New Malekko/Wiard Oscillator

via Josh of Malekko Heavy Industry:
"Here is the latest creation from the Malekko/Wiard duo, simply called the 'Oscillator' (pictured middle row, left) This is a phase modulating analog oscillator with a pair of tri, saw, and square outputs, one output (of each wave) is fixed, the 2nd has adjustable phase, when you hear the two outputs together super awesome timbres are created. Also, the Oscillator has a super nice sine, sync input and a push pull pot to take you into LFO territory! As an LFO, you can have one output modulating one thing and the other output, say 180 degrees from output 1 modulating something else...or whatever. It's kind of funny, I built two prototypes the night before i flew out to the L.A. synth meet, i left one there with some friends to 'beta test' and sent the other to Grant (of Wiard) to check out so i really never had a chance to play with it myself! Today i stole two from work and slapped them into my super awesome silver Monorocket Mission 9 case. Many hours later i'm STILL finding 'sweet spots' that that are super badass!!! Here is a quick drone type thing of the first few minutes of me messing around with it..the picture is the patch you're hearing.
Enjoy!"

ELECTRONICA EM-04 RARE USSR VINTAGE ANALOG SYNTHESIZER

via this auction
"Electronica EM - 04. There is a one master oscillator in the instrument. Due to this oscillator a possibility of instrument's detuning in the process of operation is eliminated. This generator shifts a pitch of the instrument on an octave, "slalom-effect" and refines the tuning +/- 1/4. Because of split of the manual into 2 sections, the volume of each part may be adjusted."

KORG PE 1000 polyphonic ensemble

via this auction
"Being a 70's synth presets are included and although they can be modified through the filter section, the envelope section is unalterable . Where this synth shines is the control button which enables user creation of sounds. It enable the envelope section (attack ,delay ,sustain) and waveform bank (square ,saw ,chorus) . The envelope section is very nice enabling very long sustain and fully polyphonic means you can create very dense sustained chords where previous notes are fading off slowly very much like the sustain pedal on a piano except you have control over the release. Turn the octave coupler knob (adds in a note octave above) and then pitch expand (detune) and you can create some very thick lush sounds.

In additon to this is a beautiful filter section "traveller" which is basically a high pass and a low pass filter. Included is the FK-4 footpedal which can be used to control the filter.
Additional controls such as glide and damper require an external foot pedal to operate .

An unknown synth , very rare with very little information available , unique , beautiful sounds and looks."

ACID Test: Dave Smith Mopho VSTi

YouTube via inbetweenmovements — May 29, 2010 — "with the MOPHO VSTi it is really possible to get out every sound from this great analog synth!
The Vsti is free: http://code.google.com/p/ctrlr/downlo...
It`s there for windows and OSX!
I was really waiting for that VSTi because MIDI Implementation of MOPHO is not working with every controller, the MOPHO knobs are crappy and now I can finally use the APC 40 to control mopho

I recommend headphones to hear the analog quality of this demo"

iPad Omnisphere/Logic trick with Air Display

YouTube via SpectrasonicsVIDEO — May 28, 2010 — "Eric Persing shows a very cool live performance application of using Spectrasonics Virtual Instruments like Omnisphere, Trilian and Stylus with the iPad via a new third party app called "Air Display" - which turns the iPad into a wireless, external touchscreen monitor for Macs. BTW, this iPad app and the techniques shown in the video can be used with any software....but it's particularly interesting with software like the professional Omnisphere Power Synth that is far too powerful to run on the iPad natively."

Visible Pocket Oscillator

Visible Pocket Oscillator from Unearthed Music on Vimeo.

"I really love this instrument. It’s simple to build and operate, yet the variety of sounds possible is broader than you would expect. This is the third Posc I’ve built. The first one I assembled into a small cardboard box. Let’s call it the Cardboard Posc. I disassembled the Cardboard Posc to build a prototype sound object for a dance piece.

For my third version I decided to build it into a transparent plastic case, formerly packaging for my iPod Touch. Let’s call it the Visible Posc. Right now it’s held together with a rubber band, but I’ll probably replace it with a screw or something to open it up for battery replacement. For more checkout these posts:
