""Powerful new tools to shape your sound.

Novation has just launched its biggest update yet for Summit and Peak. Firmware v2.0 brings in essential improvements and a multitude of features across stereo controls, modulation, unpredictability, and effects, that give you powerful tools to shape your sound.

Summit and Peak owners will now be able to create bigger, wider, and more intricately textured soundscapes with updated stereo controls. Experiment with expansive sound design with modulation and unpredictability. A range of effects improvements brings new tonalities with the addition of Chorus Modes, Flanger, Phlanger, new effects modulation destinations and Lo-Fi delay.

Firmware v2.0 Features

Modulation and unpredictability
Create deeper and more experimental sounds with new mod destinations, noise as a mod source, and additional LFO 3 and 4 parameters. Animate Envelopes and Arpeggiator Chance open more creative performance possibilities.

Effects
New effects, including Chorus Modes, Flanger, and Phlanger add new tonalities. Additional effects modulation destinations open up more experimental sound design. A new Lo-Fi delay mode enables a more vintage style sound.

Bug Fixes
The firmware update v2.0 includes a number of bug fixes. The full details can be found in the release notes.

You can read about the full details of firmware v2.0 by visiting the Components update page for Summit and Peak.

Summit and Peak firmware v2.0 is the last addition to the legacy of Chris Huggett’s innovative synth design work with Novation. Having shaped the sound of Novation’s iconic synths – including Bass Station, Supernova, Bass Station II, Peak and Summit, Chris has left an indelible imprint on our heritage, and we will always be grateful for his influence and inspiration.

Novation will also be hosting a live stream today (Thursday March 31st, 2022, 9pm UK time), with product specialist Enrique, taking place on our YouTube channel, where the new v2.0 update features will be demonstrated live.

For those unfamiliar with Peak and Summit, Peak is an eight-voice polyphonic synthesiser that boasts rich and warm sounds, while Summit is a two-part, 16-voice, 61-key synthesiser with great harmonic depth – both now with enhanced capabilities thanks to firmware update v2.0.

Summit & Peak owners are now able to download the v2.0 update from Novation Components."

Novation Peak - Sound Pack Demos Published on Oct 29, 2019 Jogging House

"I made a Sound Pack for the wonderful Novation Peak synthesizer that you can download for free at: https://components.novationmusic.com/...

In this video you can hear a few examples of those sounds. All tracks were recorded in single takes without overdubbing.

Hope you enjoy the sounds."

Towers - Ambient - Novation Peak / Eurorack / ZOIA / Tape

Published on Oct 29, 2019 Jogging House

"All sounds in this track originate from the Novation Peak synthesizer and are part of my Peak Sound Pack. You can download it for free at: https://components.novationmusic.com/...

I recorded some drones and phrases into ZOIA, Morphagenes and Clouds and then played Peak on top of this bed of sounds.

The Digitone is just used as a Midi sequencer here, it does not make any sounds.

Everything is running through OTO Bim & Bam and recorded straight to 1/4" tape.

Hope you enjoy it."

NOVATION PEAK - Custom Patches | Free Ambient Soundset & Sound Pack

Published on Oct 2, 2019 synth4ever

"synth4ever's 'Ambient Worlds' is a FREE Novation Peak & Summit soundset that contains 51 custom ambient chillout patches. Journey to the stars with this diverse sound pack of pads, arps, leads, textures, SFX, drones and soundscapes for Novation Peak & Summit synthesizers.

FREE DOWNLOAD via Novation Components:
https://components.novationmusic.com/...

---

synth4ever's 'Ambient Worlds' is a Novation-commissioned custom soundset & sound pack for Peak & Summit digital/analog hybrid synths. With "Ambient Worlds", synth4ever channels his love for ambient chillout music and sound design into a collection of 51 custom patches for musicians to use and enjoy.

With influences ranging from Isao Tomita, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Vangelis, Ulrich Schnauss and more, this ambient sound pack features numerous spacey pads, lush soundscapes, grainy textures, melodic arps, cutting leads, motion loops and experimental SFX. Each patch also has tasteful aftertouch, animate and modwheel assignments to encourage further sonic exploration by the musician.

In creating these patches, synth4ever's goal was to push Novation Peak’s hardware into new sonic territory by leveraging new features in the v1.2 firmware update. As a result, you will find many examples of modulated effects as an integral part of his patch design, and extensive use of the mod matrix to create vast morphing soundscapes.

In his own words, he says: “I aim to create melodic sounds that are pleasing to the ear and which take the listener on a deep emotional journey through electronic music, especially ambient space music”. These varied ambient-focused patches are a result of this vision, and showcase his creative approach to sound design.

Contains 51 free custom patches for Novation Peak & Summit synthesizers."

Patricia Wolf Sound Pack for the Novation Peak v1.2

via Patricia Wolf:

"This is a demonstration of the sound design work I did for the Novation Peak. I created 50 patches demonstrating some of the new features that the v1.2 firmware update has to offer. My sound pack is available for free with the update through Novation's Components App. Select the Novation tab on that app to access them as well as GForce Software's free patches.

The patches are performed with a mixture of Octatrack sequencing (using sequences from songs I have written) and live performance with a MIDI controller. I was inspired by artists like Delia Derbyshire and wanted to record little vignettes and sonatas using the Peak without other sound sources.

I made this recording so that friends can hear the sounds I made and so that other Peak users can get a closer glimpse into how I envision sound design. Please get in touch if you have any questions about my process or anything else related to this project and I will respond as best I can.

The Novation Peak was recorded directly into a Steinberg UR44 interface. No external effects. Subtle mastering from Tokyo Dawn Labs software to balance recordings of different patches.

And here is a little bit of information about me:

Patricia Wolf is an electronic musician, sound designer, and gallery curator based in Portland, Oregon. After years of working in the synth pop duo Soft Metals, Wolf became interested in exploring non-linear songwriting and new forms of synthesis. Alongside working with Novation, Wolf co-founded the gallery Variform which focuses on sound design and modern composition. Patricia Wolf is a recipient of the Precipice Fund, a grant funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, to explore synthesis in the contemporary art world."

You can find info on the Novation Peak v1.2 update here. Also see previous posts here on MATRIXSYNTH for additional demos.

Novation Celebrates 30 Years with Giveaways and More

video upload by NovationTV

"It’s been 30 years of Novation and music made with bass, beats and synthesisers.

From early beginnings in 1992, Novation has been a pioneer in developing music technology, allowing artists to create decade-defining sounds. Starting as Novation Electronic Music Systems, we built a small but innovative device, the MM10, which let you control a MIDI sequencer, the Yamaha QY10, for the very first time from a keyboard.

Since then, our synths, MIDI controllers, grooveboxes and more have helped people create, play and perform at all stages of their music-making journey.

From all of us at team Novation – we want to wish a huge thank you to our whole community for keeping us inspired. We can't wait to hear what you make next, and we look forward to another 30 years.

"Novation looks back on three decades of bass, beats and synthesizers.

Since 1992, Novation’s synths, MIDI controllers, grooveboxes and more have helped people create, play and perform at all stages of their music-making journey.

In 1992, Novation developed the MM10, an innovative MIDI sequencer that controlled the Yamaha QY10 from a keyboard, revolutionising the way we make music as the first MIDI controller of its kind. Bass Station’s arrival in 1993 pushed them further into the spotlight as a standout synth of the ‘90s. Developed by none other than synth designer Chris Huggett, his expertise with analogue and digital synth design influenced many of their iconic synths including Supernova, Bass Station II, Summit and Peak.

Over the years, Novation’s instruments have brought new life to music-making, including the Launchpad range which changed the game for grid-based music production and DIY performance, Circuit’s much-loved intuitive approach to beatmaking and sampling, and the award-winning Launchkey range of MIDI controllers used by artists in many genres.

In 2022, they’re celebrating 30 years of music, pioneering music technology and people that made Novation what it is today.

With Novation, anything is possible
Over the past three decades, countless artists have brought their musical ideas to life with Novation instruments. From October until Christmas, they’re bringing their community together to celebrate the made music with their instruments over the years with videos from artists across the globe, huge prizes up for grabs in their 30th anniversary competition and exclusive curated soundpack giveaways.

Giving back to the global community of fans
Novation will be giving away their biggest prize bundle yet to encourage their worldwide music-making community to share the love for their instruments. One lucky winner can own a full studio’s worth of gear, as well as three years of upcoming products.

The prize bundle includes:
1. A suite of Novation products, including Circuit Rhythm, Circuit Tracks, FLkey Mini, Launchkey 37, Summit, Peak, Bass Station II, Launchpad Pro.
2. Three years of future Novation products.
3. A feature on the Novation website spotlighting their entry/music and a short interview with accompanying social media promotion.
4. A 1:1 Product Demo Session with a Novation product specialist.
5. A Novation Logo T-Shirt.

The giveaways continue with 30 exclusive soundpacks covering countless genres. Newsletter subscribers can also get their hands on the Novation Legacy Sample Pack – add moods, textures and unique sounds from the Bass Station, AFX Station, and plenty of classic instruments.

Novation is also going backstage with creators in their community to see just how they make their music. Learn how to make songs and build beats in Ableton, Logic, Cubase and FL Studio from long-time Novation users including Lex Luger, Trishes, Bad Snacks, Seids and Venus Theory.

Join Novation in celebrating their story so far and become a part of their future as they continue to encourage creativity and make music production a rewarding experience for all."

Zenith Vol 3 - Patches 96 to 128 - Novation PEAK/Summit.

video upload by GEOSynths

"Out Now - https://www.geosynths.com/novation-peak

That's it, Zenith Vol 3 for the Novation PEAK and Summit is now available. All 128 Patches have been demonstrated over 4 Videos. The PEAK and Summit are incredible Synths and are capable of so much variety...Love it!

It's been a while since I sat down with the Novation PEAK and decided to make Zenith Vol 3, which also works for the Novation Summit. Again, another 128 Patches, however with Vol 2 I concentrated on using the additional Wavetables for the Patches, so had a more "Digital" edge, however with Vol 3, I've just made Patches that I want to hear, play and put into Music.

There's Analog Pads, Poly's, lots of Motion Pads and Stringers. Plenty of Bass & Lead and some beautiful Digital Soundscapes. All 128 Patches have Animate Buttons assigned, often to multiple parameters, as well as Aftertouch and Mod Wheel.

They are compatible with the latest Firmware from Novation (V2.1)

Novation Peak Presets Demo With Some Filter And Effect Tweaking

Published on Jun 20, 2017 Perfect Circuit Audio

"In this video we go through a few presets on the new Novation Peak Synthesizer. We play around with the arpeggiator, filter and effects as well. The filter is a 12 or 24db/octave lowpass, highpass or bandpass type and the effects include pre and post filter drive/distortion, chorus, delay and reverb.

Novation's Peak is an eight-voice polyphonic synthesizer that is one of the most exciting multi-voice synth releases of 2017. Containing three newly designed Oxford Oscillators for each voice, the Peak Synthesizer has a built-in resonant multi-mode analog filter for each individual voice and three distortion points in the analog chain: pre-filter, post-filter and global. It's great for both sound designers and EDM artists because it offers a wide range of tone from melodic to abstract. With a 16-slot matrix modulation assignment, three ADSR envelopes, high quality effects and a built-in arpeggiator, Novation's Peak is great for both live performance and studio work.
