"Deftaudio MacroPot is a single knob deeply programable MIDI controller with extended interface capabilities based around Teensy HW and Arduino programming model. It’s designed to be the most compact Teensy3.2 MIDI implementation in a very dense packaging inside a rugged enclosure. You don’t need to be experienced in Arduino programming, it comes with full featured firmware. However for experienced users can leverage an Open Source firmware available for your own modifications.

Hardware features:
- Rotary dual color (with brightness control) encoder with a push button
- OLED display for a visual feedback and preset information
- Up/Down buttons for a preset management
- 1 x MIDI Input (3.5mm TRS MIDI A or B)
- 3 x MIDI Output (3.5mm TRS MIDI A or B)
- USB MIDI Class compliant with 4 x MIDI devices under OS (1 physical port)
- 1 x Audio/CV/trigger/sync output (via PWM or DAC)
- Programmable activity LED
- Standalone operation from a power bank or power supply.

Software features:
- MacroPot is based around the idea of controlling multiple parameters at a time and quick switching between presets (macro). Within a current macro it’s possible to assign up to 5 simultaneous active controllers for transmit as well as a push button behavior. This allows to create layers or splits in values, assign controllers to different events, messages and MIDI ports, implement curves. MacroPot is also a 1x3 MIDI interface device with merging capability, which enables it at any place in the setup — as a USB controller for any class compliant device or pass through HW MIDI input for your gear.

Roland CMU-800R XMas CAROL

YouTube via digitalbeatsyndrome.

via this auction

"I take no credit for any of the work in this film. The DIY retrofit of the CMU-800R was done by RJB who is author of the Japanese DIY synth blog Radiojunkbox."

via this auction
"Roland CMU-800R Analog Synth / Drum machine. Very rare to find one of these in this condition, complete with the Apple IIe software and interface card. It has a Bass Channel (mono), Lead Channel (mono), Chord Channel (4 note poly), and Drum Channel (TR-606 drum sounds). It also has 8 Channels of CV(0 5.25v, 1v/octave) out and 8 channels of Gate out (0-12v), which would compliment the CMU-810 sister synthesizer or other analogs using CV-Gate. This particular unit was found in the basement of a music school with another flawless unit, some confused person had marked on the box sound mixer. I had hopes to MIDI retrofit it but never got around to it. I've listed links so you can listen to how the machine sounds, I do not take credit for any of the music or film in the links. The particular unit for auction is NOT in any of the videos and audio clips, I've listed them for audio demonstration only. For those who are interested in MIDI retrofitting this synth, the video by deftaudio demonstrating this machine in action with the MIDI retrofit installed. He offers the retrofit for sale."

Deftaudio midi merger [DIY & github] quick review/demo

video upload by Meska

"More a realy quick review, than a demo, but you don't need it for simple function like that.

Many other configuration : https://www.tindie.com/stores/deftaudio/
Github : https://github.com/Deftaudio/Midi-boards

Thank you for watching.
My name is Meska of the statik collective . I've been making mostly "dark and expérimental" music for more than ten years now, i'v learn so much online, now it's time for me to share my knoledge, my exploration and this channel is a place to talk about the tools, sound design and techniques to make music with.
i'm tattooist at day jobs and you can found my work here : www.meska.fr

You can stream my albums and EPs at https://statikwave.bandcamp.com/

If you'd like to support the channel consider buying music from bandcamp ;)"

"This MIDI Merger / Splitter is the special 2 input 5 output thru box which I designed from scratch while not being happy with other options.

It has two MIDI input ports which are merged together by a microcontroller and then split to five MIDI outputs. Programmed microcontroller is included with a PCB or Kit purchase.

It has optimized schematics for 5V and 3.3V MIDI sender devices, optimized circuitry for optocoupler to minimize false triggering and improve sensitivity. Finally it uses hex inverter with a Schmitt trigger for driving a stronger output signal. This makes it very reliable device. This is an active circuit, so it does require an external power. That’s the way it should be according to the MIDI specs.

There are two options for external power:

To be used with a standard wall adapter 6-12V and 5.5mm*2.1mm connector. In this case a Kit comes with corresponding socket and 7805 power regulator
To be powered from USB port. In this case a Kit includes USB->5.5mm*2.5mm cable, corresponding power socket (so you wont plug wall adapter) and doesn't include 7805. Instead of that you'll solder a jumper Pin 1 and Pin 3. Leave Pin 2 not connected. Please make sure, you use USB port or adapter with 5V output and verify it prior to connecting to the board. There are some QuickCharge USB chargers which can bump a voltage. Please, avoid using them.

Board size and an enclosure choice: Size: 5x17cm"

Deftaudio Fidget Spinner Eurorack LFO DIY kit

video upload by DeftAudio

"Here is a simple to build fidget spinner kit for Eurorack to use as an LFO with other modules.

Deftaudio SpinnerLFO is a simple DIY kit based around a fidget spinner and a double bass pickup.

This module is fully passive and requires no external power. It can be used as an oscillator source, where the frequency is based on the rotational speed. To control other CV inputs, you need to amplify the signal coming from it, such as with a preamp built in Behringer 2600. Any other preamp, mixer and a guitar pedal will work too.

Assembly notes:

Assembling the kit is straight forward. You need very minimal soldering skills, just to solder the sockets and two wires together. No special tools required.

Rare Russian Analog Synth ALISA 1387 w/Case

via this auction

video below

"Russian monophonic analog synth ALISA 1387. It has a 3-octave keyboard, a modulation wheel, control knobs and regulators. The process of synthesis is performed with the 2 OSCs, 1 sub oscillator, noise generator, filter with ADSR, 1LFO, and wide range of modulation functions. The synthesizer plays a stable keyboard pitch thanks to quartz stabilization of oscillators.

ALISA consists of 7 main sections - OSCILLATORS (called TONE GENERATORS), MIXER, FILTER with ADSR (called FILTER CONTOUR), AMPLIFIER ADSR (SIGNAL CONTOUR), and OUTPUT section.
OSCILLATORS section has three subgroups - OSC 1-2 (called GENERATOR 1 and 2), and REGISTER (waveshape). Their parameters are the following:
- osc1: waveshape switch (pulse, saw, and square - can run simultaneously!), pulse width modulation (wave forms 1 and 2) levels;
- osc2: waveshape (saw/square), sync interval, sync on/off;
- register: 8'', 16'', 32'' and subharmonic; next - portamento on/off, level and global tuning.
MIXER section - osc's 1-2 levels, noise generator level.
FILTER - cutoff, resonance, filter vibrato, key follow.
FILTER CONTOUR - attack, decay, sustain release (called amplitude) also switched on/off.
SIGNAL CONTOUR - attack, decay, sustain (only on/off), release.
OUTPUT - main volume level, power on/off.
MODULATION section(left from keyboard) - mod depth wheel, mod purpose - osc/filter, waveform switch - saw/square, rate (called tempo).

On the rear panel, the CONNECTION plugs are located:
- line out plug;
- power source - 220V/50Hz, cord plug, fuse;
- external run - CV/GATE control plug on/off switch;
- phones out (located below Modulation section)
It runs on 220V AC (US customers will need an adaptor).

After the end of the auction, the buyer will receive a full set, which is shown here on pics: ALISA 1387, POWER CORD, FULL SCHEMATIC SET, ORIGNAL USER MANUAL, ENGLISH FRONT PANEL TRANSLATION, 5 DIN TO 1/4 JACK INSTRUMENT CABLE ADAPTER, FUSES!"

Larry Klein's (Peter Gabriel) Fairlight CMI Series III For Sale

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
Fairlight CMI Series III - the last restoration in 2020! - DeftAudio

via this auction

"Yes, this is the real deal and your chance to jump onto a completely restored Fairlight CMI Series III system.

Hello. My name is Andrei Kudryavtsev. If you've been tracking Fairlight sales, you probably saw my other restoration work. All systems that I sell are completely restored and refurbished to the original condition, as much as possible. They are also upgraded to modern standards providing better reliability and usability. This system is not the exception. It used to belong to Larry Klein. It was one of the cleanest Fairlight I've ever received, however it required extensive work to get it up to date to Rev 9 standards. It's running OS9.34 with all required hardware changes, with 16 voices 32MB sample memory, with SCSI2SD replacing original hard drive, USB2CMI replacing original Preh keyboard, and a VGA monitor. It has fully repainted the CMI mainframe, music keyboard.

Power supply section is brand new. Old switching PSU has been replaced with three modern PSUs, driving clear power rails and dedicated power rail for fans. Cooling section is brand new, replaced all fans with server grade fans and new fan speed controller with a separate zone management and thermal sensors.

All work is carefully documented and available in my Instagram with all dates it was performed. It took me over 5 months to bring it to the condition you currently see. instagram.com/deftaudio/

This system needs a new home, a person who will be using it to make the music and not being distracted by common failures. All of those have been addressed to make your life easier and bring new life into this wonderful machine. I should say a disclaimer anyway, that as is a vintage gear....it may fail any moment...and obviously no return offered. However, I'm offering you my help in learning this great machine, and so you get 10 hours of my time at no charge. You can use it for whatever you want - set up and install online, learning session, tutorials, technical support etc... I want to make you happy.

What's included into the package:

1. Fairlight CMI Series III mainframe: Rev9.34, 16 voices, 32MB, 100kHz sampling input, SCSI2SD, cooling and PSU upgrades.

2. Fairlight CMI Series III music keyboard

3. USB2CMI keyboard adapter with Apple keyboard and mouse.

4. VGA Monitor, Video scaler, Green color adapter(if you want your fonts to be green)

5. Original Preh alphanumeric keyboard (touchpad doesn't function)

6. Fairlight CMI Series III original green phosphor monitor (faded CRT)

7. All necessary cables.

8. Larry Klein flight cases."
