Custom controller for the Yamaha FS1r. Almost looks like custome eurorack modules.

Curious how many of the FS1r parameters it controls. I once made an 80 page editor with Touch OSC with over 1000 parameters. It was ported to TB MIDI Stuff. There is also an editor for Patch Base here and free Edisyn 26 editor here. Without an editor it's like trying to paint a canvas through a keyhole.

Plus it works in performances, with the ability to stack four of these together to create some awesome sounds. The internal DP effects are also very nice and smooth."

"Video demo of some presets I created with the Yamaha fs1r synthesizer. Some of these presets feature 'Formant Sequences' which were a huge selling point for this instrument enabling the creation of human vocal timbres as well as other more experimental sounds. All of the examples here feature MIDI CC of parameters. Most of the sequencing was done with Five12 Numerology. Some of the drum sounds were just factory presets. All effects are from the fs1r built in effects. Recorded into Logic. Enjoy!

The FS1r is the most advanced FM synthesizer ever released by Yamaha. Not only does it exceed the capabilities of previous hardware by 2 operators with its 8-operator FM engine, it also includes formant synthesis, which can be use to create sounds much like the Human voice.

Octatrack MKII meets Yamaha FS1R and Analog Heat

"The Octatrack provides 4 channels of MIDI sequencing to the FS1R using different step lengths, time signatures and probabilities. The audio is routed back in to the Octatrack where probability resampling and playback happens. All sounds comes from the FS1R. The main out of the Octatrack goes in to the Analog Heat for additional distortion and equalization."

If you have an iPad you can edit it with this FS1R iPad editor by TB MIDI Stuff, ported from my 80 page TouchOSC FS1R editor for The Missing Link.   This is an incredibly powerful synth.  The original Yamaha DX7 only had 6 Operators.

The FS1R is the pinnacle of Yamahas FM synthesis with algos holding up to 8 (!) operators at once. In addition you have Formant synthesis that you can blend in with the classic FM and these sounds can be setup into 4 different parts with traditional, albeit digital, filters, amps, LFOs and whatnot.
It can even import original DX7 sysex.
The result can be spectacular, As I demonstrate in this video.

The module flopped back in '98 and was produced for only just over a year and quickly went into the digital purgatory. But over the years to come, rumors began spreading about this other-wordly sound module and now it's highly sought after. As it should be!
