**NOTE: Koushion is a MIDI controller, not a synthesizer, and therefore does not generate audio by itself. Koushion will work with your DAW, MIDI hardware, and background audio apps (via virtual MIDI).

**Windows Users: A third party has developed a CoreMIDI network driver for Windows called rtpMIDI, which will allow you to use Koushion wirelessly with your PC. You can download rtpMIDI here: http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/rtpMIDI.html

---

Features:
* 16 steps per scene (up to 128 steps in chain mode)
* 8 scenes with independent midi channel per scene
* 8 scene layers with independent key, quantization, and playback mode
* 4 playback modes: single, simultaneous, chain, rebound
* Key switching between any major, minor, or pentatonic scale
* Adjustable quantization (1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32)
* Quantized scene switching
* MIDI clock send/receive
* Tap to set tempo (great for syncing with a live band)
* Velocity control
* Monophonic drawing mode (only allows one note per step; great for programming leads)
* Wireless connectivity via CoreMIDI Network Sessions
* Automatic integration with other apps via CoreMIDI virtual ports. Open up a synth in the background and Koushion will trigger the notes!
* Dark theme to reduce eye strain when working in low-light environments

---

Connectivity:
Koushion connects to your existing MIDI hardware via the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit or the iRig MIDI from IK Multimedia. It also connects wirelessly to your DAW via a connector application (for Windows) or CoreMIDI (for OS X)."

Koushion MIDI Step Sequencer - NEW FEATURES

Published on Jun 2, 2013

"Koushion was just updated, adding a host of new features that make it an even more powerful music composition and production tool. It now has eight independent layers, each with its own MIDI Channel, Scale, Octave, Clock Divider and more. Each layer can have a different number of scenes (up to eight), making long, evolving patterns possible.

It works great with external hardware synths and softsynths, as well as other iPad music apps."

Kudzu Creative Drops Price of Koushion: Pads to $1.99

"GREENVILLE, SC - July 16, 2013

Kudzu Creative drops the price of its pad-based controller, Koushion: Pads to $1.99.

From the company who brought you the MIDI Step Sequencer iPad app, Koushion, created Koushion: Pads, which adds a new twist to the popular controller by adding a key lock feature and programmable pads.

The key lock feature empowers you to improvise with a larger range of pitches by removing those that are not in the desired key. If locking yourself to one key sounds a bit too limiting, but you want to reach a few notes that are out of the 16-pad range, or even if you just want a custom controller layout, each pad can be edited independently to trigger a different note. Once you've found a custom layout that you like, you can easily save it for future use.

About Koushion MIDI Pads

Features:
16 easy-to-tap pads in a familiar MPC-style layout
Key lock: with the flick of a finger you can lock the pads to any major, minor, or pentatonic scale
Programmable layout: every pad can be re-assigned to any MIDI note / channel
Automatic integration with other apps via CoreMIDI virtual ports: open up a synth in the background and Koushion: Pads will trigger the notes

About Kudzu Creative Group: Based in Greenville, SC, Kudzu Creative Group specializes in mobile and web services including application & software development."

Koushion 4.0 MIDI CC Sequencing with Moog Slim Phatty & Little Phatty

Published on Nov 29, 2014 experimentalsynth

"Some first experiments with sequencing MIDI CC values with the Koushion iPad app. New features in ver 4.0 allowed me to control multiple CC parameters simultaneously while also sequencing notes.

In this example I'm using Ableton as a master clock, to provide beats and to route the MIDI data from Koushion to the Moog synths (Little Phatty & Slim Phatty) and a (clock synced) Line 6 Echo Pro. The heart of the timbres I'm using here come from sequencing (on both synths) Osc 2 frequency on an oscillator sync patch, and filter envelope decay. I'm also sequencing Envelope Generator amount on the Slim Phatty for some additional variation.

This just scratches the surface of everything you can do with this setup. The Moog synths were great to use for this since you can also see the CC sequencing in action.

Koushion is great integrated into a larger setup like this, or as a stand alone sequencer. Check it out on the App Store."

Koushion is on sale this weekend on the app store.. Original price: $7.99; Sale price: $5.99 through Monday.

What's New in Version 1.2:

* Fixed a bug with the "Apply to All" channel button
* Added a tutorial screen
*Added a feedback button, so that customers can easily report issues from within the app"

App details:
Pad-based controllers such as the MPC have become a ubiquitous fixture in electronic music setups worldwide. So, why would you want another? Koushion: MIDI Pads adds a new twist to the popular controller by adding a key lock feature and programmable pads.

The key lock feature empowers you to improvise with a larger range of pitches by removing those that are not in the desired key. LittleBits Explorations by Experimentalsynth.com

LittleBits + Koushion + Ableton

Published on Apr 22, 2015 experimentalsynth

Three videos by www.experimentalsynth.com

"Connecting LittleBits to the larger world of audio gear generated some surprisingly musical results. With an external sequencer like Koushion driving it, you have both hands free for knobs and switches. With some creative patching and a little extra gear, it was easy to make a highly synchronized music production environment.

Ableton provided the master MIDI clock for the Koushion step sequencer app (connected to the iMac by an iConnectMIDI2+). This gave a quick interactive composition user interface, and the trigger from the LittleBits MIDI Module was used to clock the Micro Sequencer Module controlling the Filter Module’s cutoff frequency.

The LittleBits system is the only audio source in this video. Its audio output was run into Ableton for effects processing. Since Ableton’s tempo-based effects were synced to the same clock as Koushion and the LittleBits Micro Sequencer, complex, yet cohesive sounds are easy to create, and sound great.

LittleBits + DSI Pro 2 :: CV Applications

Published on Apr 22, 2015

"The LittleBits CV Module’s Control Voltage input and output allows LittleBits systems to modulate and be modulated by a world of electronic music equipment. Everything from large modular synthesizers to new small analog synths, even some effects pedals are fair game.

In these examples a Dave Smith Instruments Pro 2 is used. The Pro 2 is a Control Voltage powerhouse, with four assignable CV ins and outs (8 total) making it the perfect test rig to push the LittleBits farther into modular synth territory."

LittleBits + Moog Voyager + CP-251 :: CV Applications

Published on Apr 22, 2015

"Combine a LittleBits Micro Sequencer, CV and Power module and you have a fun, low cost CV Step Sequencer. It can be used with LittleBits equipment, or can enhance other CV synth systems. Here are a few examples of the possibilities when used with a Moog voyager and CP-251 Control Voltage Processor."
