VOLTLIFE: Kamieniec quick patch

Published on Dec 6, 2016 voltlife

"My first exploration with Xaoc Devices' Kamieniec phaser. Sorry for the shaky camerawork, but it sounded so good I just wanted to get it out there!

The input is some chords from Braids in WTx4 mode, sequenced by a Verbos Multistage, with occasional changes to the chord timbre. The 4 and 6 stage outputs of Kamieniec are used as a stereo pair, with some delay added externally.

Modulation is mostly simple, but in the last part I run the Kamieniec's LFO output through a Doepfer A189-1, mostly in XOR mode. This creates interesting quasi-fractal stairstep patterns, which is added to the internal triangle LFO to produce a mix of typical phaser swoops and almost chiptune-like chirps."

Befaco Noise Plethora Demos by Friendly Noise

Playlist:

1. “Befaco Noise Plethora - Azatoth’s flutes” by Friendly Noise
This is my first video with the Befaco Noise Plethora, a triple digital noise generator with also three analog multimode filters, offering plenty of flexibility to shape the sound.

Modules: Befaco Noise Plethora, Befaco Rampage, SSF Vortices, Intellijel Quadrax, Intellijel Planar, Xaoc Kamieniec, Xaoc Tallin, Qu-bit Data Bender.
+
Strymon Nightsky reverb

2. “Noise Plethora 02 - Sequencing Programs” by Friendly Noise
The programs of Noise Plethora can be sequenced manually or using the CV inputs for each channel. That greatly adds to the sonic variations of the module.

Modules: Befaco Noise Plethora, Befaco Rampage, IOLabs Flux, SSF Vortices, Intellijel Quadrax.
+
Strymon Nightsky reverb

3. “Noise Plethora 3 - Drum Kits” by Friendly Noise
Because Noise Plethora is a triple noise generator, you can set up some drum kits using only this module. Clever use of modulation for the sound parameters, filter settings and (external) envelope shapes can results in many different sounds from just only one Noise plethora “drum kit”. :-)

Patch notes are included in the video.

Modules: Befaco Noise Plethora, IOLabs Flux, SSF Vortices, Intellijel Quadrax, Xaoc Tallin, QU-bit Data Bender.
+
Strymon Nightsky reverb

4. “Noise Plethora 4 - A Noise Landscape” by Friendly Noise
A live performance and tour de force using the third noise generator of Befaco Noise Plethora as the only sound source.

Patch notes are included in the video.

Modules: Befaco Noise Plethora, Befaco Percall, Befaco Rampage, Befaco Burst, IOLabs Flux, SSF Vortices, Xaoc Kamieniec, Xaoc Tallin, QU-bit Data Bender, Schlappi Engineering 100 Grit, Schlappi Engineering, Angle Grinder.

XAOC Devices Kamieniec Demo

Published on Dec 20, 2016 Perfect Circuit Audio

"The XAOC Devices Kamieniec is an analog phase shifter inspired by classic 1970s OTA-based phaser designs, but optimized for use within the Eurorack modular ecosystem. Featuring four variable phase stages and two fixed stages, the Kamieniec offers extended control of a traditional phaser topology, for everything from simple notch filtering to intense seasick outer space frequency sweeps."

Modular Minutes: XAOC Devices Kamieniec & Belgrad Chords

Published on Mar 16, 2017 Analogue Zone Showroom / Synths and Studio

"Modular Minutes: XAOC Devices Kamieniec & Belgrad Chords

We decided to make a clash between the analog & the digital: Qu-bit's Chord which is a wavetable VCO is processed by 2 analog monster filters/phasers from Xaoc Devices, while it also gets some stereo DSP treatment at the end by Erica Synths Pico DSP! The rhythms and sequencing plus the audio dynamics are enhanced by other modules from 4ms, Erica Synths & Intellijel Designs plus one side of the new Xaoc utility Samara is used to turn some modulation signals inside out. An extra icing oscillation sweep is coming from the PGH Osc V2! All in all, lot of sounds and a lot of possibilities. We had this patch running for days in the showroom!"

All Creatures Festival

Published on Dec 9, 2016 Lightbath

"All Creatures Festival

4-part suite performed live on a modular synthesizer and mixed in Ableton Live.

1. While Everyone Sleeps, Tiny Creatures Decorate (Extended)
2. Arise for Celebration! (Extended)
3. Welcome the Larger Beasts (Extended)
4. And They All Rejoice ‘Til Dawn (Extended)

Visit http://lightbath.bandcamp.com to download a studio edit of the suite along with the four extended versions featured in the videos.

PATCH NOTES
============

This suite explores four variations within a single modular synthesizer patch.

René generates the initial pitch and rhythm. Ornament + Crime’s Quantermain app re-quantizes (and re-re-quantizes) pitch from René while Just Friends modulates the rhythmic triggers from René and creates envelopes with those triggers. Ornament + Crime is also running a Turing Machine as CV source in Quantermain to generate pitches for Rings, which is being heavily processed by Kamieniec and Belgrad.

Detailed patch notes can be found here: https://goo.gl/fSvQbU

VOLTLIFE: Kamieniec in the feedback loop of a delay

Published on Dec 31, 2016 voltlife

"It's common to use a high- or low-pass filter in the feedback loop of a delay, but phasers can also produce attractive effects. This is a short demonstration of Xaoc Devices' Kamieniec phaser in the feedback loop of Roland Demora delay module."

Early August Noodle (Modular Synth Performance)

Urs Heckmann
Published on Aug 7, 2017

Urs Heckmann is the man behind u-he.

"Here's last weekend's patch on a small system. All sound is recorded straight out of this synth. Goes to show that two oscillators, one filter plus Rings and Clouds make for a nicely dense patch. Base drum (way too loud, sorry for that) stems from Peaks. I'm using Batumi + 2 x Tirana and the Sequenced Switch to create all sorts of triggers, random offsets and rhythmic context.

Most of the performance is setting the levels of each component, plus a few tweaks on Maths. I could have done more, but...

... the general problem with recording a video like that is, I could do much more to make it interesting, but it might be difficult to come back to the original setting. Hence some knobs are better left untouched if there's the slightest chance one needs to reshoot. Then, after five or six attempts one is just fine with the bad light, noisy looks and some mixing errors. I need more experience with this :-)

Trippy in Kamieniec

Published on Jun 27, 2017 Urs Heckmann

Urs Heckmann aka u-he.

"Minimal Modular Synth performance.

I'm currently in a phase where I enjoy building a whole idea within just a small, contained rack. This time using the Vermona rack with a bunch of their 1U multiples/mixers.

3 Bass/percussion voices: Used Tempi and Bytom to cut up gates and clocks from Metropolis to generate three different rhythmic bass/percussion lines from STO and MiniMod VCO (through MMG, uFold and LXd). All of this through DLD.

Solo Voices: Using Maths as envelope (RingMod via Blinds) and control voltage for a random melody with Dixie II+ , displaced by Batumi /w Sport Modulator and scaled by uScale II. Using MiniMod VCF as Filter/Volume control for this melody. Put a Kamieniec on top of that, which in the beginning is heard by itself as fx sweeps in self oscillation (ringmod'd through cycled Maths).

Mixed, delayed, equalised and limited in Logic."

WORNG Electronics - LRMSMSLR (stereo mid/side wizardry - make your mono FX stereo etc)

Published on Jun 28, 2018 DivKidVideo

"TIMING INDEX BELOW - SKIP AROUND! :) GRAB HEADPHONES YOU'LL APPRECIATE WHAT THIS DOING EASIER ... pinky promise.

Here's the very excellent, very underrated, very overlooked LRMSMSLR module from WORNG Electronics ... that's wrong, spelt wrong ...

The LRMSMSLR takes a stereo input (left and right) then sums them together to create a mid input and creates a signal that's a difference of the two to create a side signal. This is a common mastering technique often doing things such as removing low end from the side stereo elements to clean up a mix. The mid signal is a single mono channel and the side input is a single mono channel, it's the way their phases are flipped and interacting when brought back together to recreate a stereo image. It's great for taking that side output and using mono FX modules that when brought back into the module create stereo images with those FX on them from super wide to more subtle stereo images (with a dry unprocessed mid to keep things focused). It can also do some unity summing, CV difference / averaging. Lots of patches, lots to get through, skip through the index below if you can't watch all the way through.

A Nostalgic Phase

Published on Jul 17, 2017 voltlife

"I just got myself a Minilogue, which is the first analogue polyphonic keyboard I've had in a long time, so of course the first thing I did was run it through Kaminiec for liquid phasey sweeps that took me right back to my JMJ-idolising childhood. Add a chugging bassline through plenty of delay, some low-fi analogue percussion and some random squelches, and the 70s electronic nostalgia-fest is complete.

It's not all retro analogue styles, though. The Minilogue chords (shamelessly stolen from you-know-who) go through Kamieniec into Clouds, which I use to pitch shift and freeze the output. Clouds is modulated by an Erica Octasource and occasionally trigger by bursts from Drezno, while Demora and Erbe Verb add echoes and space to the bassline and percussion. There are a few missteps with chords and mixing, but it's fun to play!"

Xaoc Exploration | Eurorack Modular Synthesizer

Published on Aug 22, 2017 Lightbath

"This video is break from the norm. It was recorded before the eclipse and presents a glimpse into a process of exploration.

The basic idea of this patch is to use Drezno & Lipsk to mangle the audio coming from two ER-301 synth voices (the percussive sounds), which is shaped by Maths envelopes shaped by Batumi and Voltage Block. The bass is Tides, and the lead is another ER-301 synth voice. All voices played by Voltage Block. Praga mixes all three voices and sends to Chronoblob delay, which outputs to Kamieniec. Tirana II handles some panning.

Audio recorded straight to camera."

XAOC Devices Zadar, Batumi, Belgrad And More

Published on Mar 21, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"We put together a whole system of XAOC Devices modules including the new Zadar quad envelope generator, two Belgrad filters that can be used as interesting oscillators when self oscillating, and a Kamieniec phase shifter. We also used a Batumi, Drezno and Tirana II for sequencing and modulation. The SSF Entity Percussion Synthesizer provides some drums.

The new Zadar is a powerful digital quad envelope generator with many different envelope shapes that can be warped and modulated. The Zadar can even run at high enough frequencies to be used as a kind of odd wavetable oscillator.
