Hohner K4 String Synthesizer kosmische phaserings

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by Blake Helton

Update:

via this listing

"Hohner String Synth from late 70s made by Italian company Elex who made other string synths for Farfisa, Logan and whoever else asked them to build a model. if they asked real nice.

This thing is in awesome shape and sounds like a poor man’s ARP String Ensemble/Eminent Solina. Much closer to the functionality and sound of an Elka Rhapsody 490 but I think the ensemble modulation sounds thicker. The lowest F# not working when just using cello sound. Could be a case of reseating one of the socketed ICs. Your basic divide-down synth. The power supply has been recapped and some other cap replacements. I added a mod so you can dial in or remove the ensemble modulation. Gives another sound set for some combo organ type vibrato-less sounds. Separate power supply/swell pedal.

With the power supply/vol pedal, this is kind of heavy so would prefer to meet somewhere in the Atlanta area. Of course I offer shipping as well for a flat rate.

Run this gal thru some phaser and start working on that horror movie soundtrack or Klaus Schulze-inspired kozmik voyages. Very easy to work on but you wont need to do anything to enjoy immediately."

"Dragonflight" (Dungeon Theme, tribute to Jochen Hippel)

video upload by No Lake

"You've probably never heard of this guy and you've probably never heard the original music either but Mad Max, as we used to call him back then, played a major role in my musical roots, maybe the most impactfull musician before I turned 18 and before I was 100% into my masters Vangelis, JMJ, Klaus Schulze and Harrold Budd. This is just a humble 'Christmas improvised revisited jam-cover blah blah blah' of one of his track. Headphones recommended."

Berlin School live performance at home - "Analog crabs"

video upload by Caught In Joy

"'Analog crabs' is my Berlin School electronic music performance from my latest album "La chica de la playa" out on Bandcamp: https://caughtinjoy.bandcamp.com/albu...

Playing the analog synthesizers, modular drum machines and guitar pedals in a Berlin School music style is like embarking on an electronic journey through time and space. As your fingers dance across the synthesizer's lush, vintage-style keys, you unleash a sonic universe that harkens back to the iconic soundscapes of the 1970s pioneers like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and Jean-Michel Jarre.

I hope these analog warmth and organic textures will transport you to a sonic realm where pulsating sequencers guide your way through mysterious, cosmic landscapes on a rainy Berlin night.

All my recent songs are fully improvised and performed "dawlessly". Creating "dawless" electronic music in a home studio involves producing music without using a traditional Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Instead, hardware synthesizers, modular synths and effects are used to create, sequence, and manipulate sounds directly. This approach can provide a hands-on, tactile experience and encourage creativity by relying on physical gear rather than a computer interface. It allows for a more immediate and intuitive workflow, with real-time control over parameters, resulting in a unique sonic character.

Timeline:
0:00:00 Intro with Moog Mavis, Prophet-10 and Moog Matriarch
0:07:16 Moog One solo
0:11:28 Moog Matriarch ending solo

Playing Moog One, Moog Matriarch, Moog Mavis, Moog DFAM and Prophet-10.

If you appreciate music that helps you unwind or just old-school electronic sounds crafted with analog synthesizers, explore my extensive collection of 20+ albums on Bandcamp."

Yamaha EX5 Demos by Snupps

videos upload by Snupps Synth channel

Use the player controls to skip through videos.

1.
A demo of a effect sound i made, Under the Name The Abyss, its a strange sound. And only the EX5 can achieve this type of sounds, I used no external FX for this and there is almost no layered tracks, mostly one continous recorded track. I used the AWM/FDSP engine for this, Cheers!
Yamaha EX5 Demo The Abyss 2. Public Transport (Yamaha EX5 Demo)
A ambient track, where i mostly use my Yamaha EX5, and most specifically a sound i made under the name Transporter, which kinda sounds like a bowed string instrument, where i used the FDSP synth engine. I also used my Korg M50 and Kawai K5000s for some more layered sounds. All the sounds were made by me.

Superbooth 2023: Doefper Has New Modules For Polyphony and more

video upload by sonicstate

"Herr Doepfer - the man who started it all! He showed us their latest polyphonic systems. The first one is a polyphonic portamento controller that allows the glide function to be available in a polyphonic system. It has three CV inputs and four CV outputs which are already internally wired to the oscillators.

The other polyphonic module they showed is a polyphonic mixer that can mix several polyphonic VCOs to obtain a fatter sound. It has three polyphonic channels with four voices each, and internally it's made of 12 VCAs arranged in a matrix of 3 by 4. It has a very special feature where if channel B is not used, the module generates the sub-octaves of the channel A.

They also showed a phaser module which is a copy of a phaser from the 70s called Schulte Compact Phasing A that was used by famous musicians such as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Kraftwerk and more. In the meantime, these units are available second-hand at very high prices, so Doepfer decided to build a copy of this phaser."

'Old School Jam' All-modular, Step Sequencer, Bucket Brigade Delay, Eurorack FX, and no quantiser!

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"Un-quantised, old-school sequencer fun: Inspired by early sequenced electronica such as Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, much of whose music used a Moog 960 sequencer, which didn't have quantising features, and were sometimes difficult to tune accurately or reliably. Such as the track 'Phaedra' by Tangerine Dream, during which the Moog performing the opening pattern had to be re-tuned during the actual recording, and it was left on the album! Yet it sounds great, it's imperfect tuning adds so much to the atmosphere of the music, irrespective if it was deliberate or a 'happy accident'.

Here I use an un-quantised sequencer, in fact an Erica Synths Sequential Switch, with it's CV expander that turns it into a great little 8-step sequencer. I also run it through the AJH Synth CV Mix, to offset the CV going to the oscillator, allowing me to push the output into the negative CV range. I then send this shifted signal to the VCO's frequency modulation input instead of the 1V/Oct... just to make it more difficult to tune! Seriously though, this was a fun experiment, and taking off the digital stabilisers (or quantisers) once in a while is highly recommended, and a good learning experience. This was an all-modular session - no external FX or mixing, just Eurorack modules for all functions.

The AJH SYNTH Eurorack range consists of high-end modules, all hand-made in the UK, most of which are based on classic, vintage designs, authentically recreating the circuitry of much sought-after analogue instruments and technologies of the past, whilst greatly expanding them, and bringing them to modern Eurorack levels of convenience, limitless flexibility, and reliability.

Check out the AJH Synth playlists for module 'User Guides', and 'Patch of The Week' videos, which will be either performances or 'how to' guides, detailing functions/methods, and a range of sounds, some familiar, some less so, containing a patch sheet at the end to show you how to construct it for yourself.

Meet us and the modules in person this year at Superbooth 23, Berlin, on May 11th to 13th.

Luftrum 27 - Patches for MatrixBrute

video upload by Luftrum1

"Here's a playhrough of 38 patches from Luftrum 27 for Arturia MatrixBrute. A classic soundset in the vein of previous Luftrum numbered releases, it fuses retro analog colors with cutting edge modern timbres.

This was recorded during the course of the day, so you'll see the transformation as it gradually gets darker with the approach of evening. All sounds in the vid are straight out of the MatrixBrute, with no additional effects or external processing of any kind. Apologies for the shallow depth of field.

Totaling 80 presets by Luftrum, this set provides a well rounded mix of timeless analog emulations, as well as esoteric explorations. Think Retro 80s meets Downtempo Ambient, takes a quick dip in 90's Acid and Detroit House, and finishes with a stroll through Berlin School. Expressive sync leads, 80s inspired synthpop keys, glistening arpeggios, warm paraphonic pads, berlin-school sequences, mixed with drones, cinematic duo-split compositions, percussive loops and more.

Inspiration was drawn from synth legends such as Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, Vince Clarke, Klaus Schulze, Royksopp, Le Matos, Sinioia Caves and Disasterpeace to name a few. As always, patches are volume balanced with assignments for all four macro controls plus modwheel, velocity and aftertouch.

'Sonic X-Voice' - Human Vocal Patch from our Klaus Schulze Tribute video with Sonic XV Eurorack VCF

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"This Patch of The Week shows how the vocal sound was created that featured in the Klaus Schulze tribute video. It uses the Sonic XV Diode Transistor Ladder Filter for both it's band pass filter, and it's built-in wave folder. Patch sheet at the end of video, plus a download link for a PDF version with notes further down the page. Musical Tribute to Klaus Schulze: https://youtu.be/VA-Io4jVKbA

The Sonic XV is a surprisingly flexible multimode VCF - it can do the kind of aggressive, screaming resonance chaos that you'd expect from some of the famous diode filter-wielding synths of the past, but it's also particularly good at softer, delicate sounds, and having a well-featured wave folder on board gives it a much wider scope for tone-shaping. This, coupled with it's fast response, and simultaneous band pass, 6dB and 24dB low pass outputs, makes it a great choice for fast melodic sequences and percussion sounds. It's character is significantly different than that of the Minimoog-based Transistor Ladder Filter, and compliments it nicely, even if only used for it's wave folder to feed other VCF's. Sonic Wave Folder & Sequencer: https://youtu.be/pJUb-ZEddqQ

Video by @DreamsOfWires

Patch sheet with notes: https://kvisit.com/8AE/x_8G

Patch notes:
--------------------
Green dots show approximate pot and switch positions. Pots and switches that do not have green dots are not used in this patch, and should be left at their zero or off positions.
DH-ADSR: As we are using the inverted output here, it will constantly be sending a +8V signal to the LIN-CV of the VCO (therefore raising it's frequency/pitch) until it receives a gate signal, at which point it will follow the envelope settings, starting from an output of 0V. This is why the VCO will need re-tuning to match other instruments used, but preferably after you are happy with the amount of envelope to pitch influence you have dialled in. Dual LFO: The Tap Tempo VC-LFO module could also be used here in the same way, as it also has a built-in VCA (level control). Sonic XV: Small differences in wave folder settings can make a big difference to the sound, so it'll probably require some fine-tweaking to get the ideal timbre. I have added some resonance in this version, as it can help to simulate the tone of a human voice, but this is of course subjective - all voices are different. Band pass is definitely the best filter type to use, as it can remove both high and low frequencies that would be beyond those produced by a human voice. Modules used from left to right: DH-ADSR Envelope, Dual LFO + VCA, Vintage Transistor Core VCO, Sonic XV Diode Filter, Contour Generators, Discrete Cascaded VCA."

'Für Klaus' - Tribute to Klaus Schulze, a Eurorack Modular Performance #eurorack #synth #ajhsynth

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"On this channel Sunday 8th @7pm GMT - a 13-minute track recorded as a single-take performance, and a purpose-made tribute/dedication to the late Klaus Schulze. The piece is inspired by his music directly, creating some sounds akin to those he used in the late 1970's, even including one of his sequences. Much of it was composed and rehearsed, whilst some of it was improvised, but I suspect much less so than Schulze's works, which were often much longer, involving more improvisation and more instruments. This piece consists of just three voices across 4 audio tracks/channels, altered or converted in real-time during the performance to achieve different sounds.

As a creator of electronic music, Schulze was one of the most significant influences for me (the video creator). His music, his attitude towards it in the interviews I read of his, and the way he worked alone to create dense, fascinating, complete musical performances and soundscapes, at a time when the technology was in it's infancy, and before later technologies such as complex computer sequencing, sound creation, processing and mixing were available. As a solitary musician, his was a great, empowering example. His bravery to improvise, experiment, and co-exist with imperfections, embracing them rather than fearing them, makes me warm to the artist and the music even more. Schulze used, among others, an early Minimoog (leads) and a large Moog modular system, which he customised with additional modules over the following years. Since the core AJH MiniMod system is directly based on the early, more desirable R.A.Moog version of the Minimoog, yet is entirely modular, it makes a great choice for this homage to one of electronic music's greatest pioneers.

Winds of Time

video upload by Vykaar Tones

"Improvisation in the style of the much missed Klaus Schulze. I have just acquired an Elka Rhapsody 610 in lovely condition and thought I would use it in a Berlin School piece. You can clearly hear how it was used by Tangerine Dream on albums made from 1975 onwards."
