11.16.2024 Mos-lab 2500 [01]

video upload by batchas

"I rearranged the studio and am testing different things with diverse machines around the 2500 and a simple sequence. There's IMO a promising potential, but it would require way more time to invest, than the one hour I spend on a session to make a serious track. I usually concentrate on one modular system, cause it's more direct, plug'n'play fun, perfect for short 30 minutes sessions in the studio. But I've been thinking for a long time about having again the drum machines in the game, also some rack synths I like. Means connecting again MIDI and so on. I hesitated a lot, cause the last thing I want to do is spend time on programming! But I have to admit that I'm easely bored with the repetitive 16 steps sequences on the modulars (or 32 or 64). Time will tell if it was a good idea to take out the Buchla system to make space for the beat machines & effects corner.

The first synth we hear (4 bass notes repeating) is a Oberheim Matrix 1000. Then comes the Ace Tone FR-2 drum machine. Then the 2500. And after the Waldorf Q (fast sequence, staccato)."

"I made different patches in the same sessions, also checking how the 2500 filter does sound with diverse waveforms.
In retrospect I think a simple beat on top wouldn't have spoiled anything, at the contrary."

"Une vidéo en français comme état des lieux relatif à la matrice que j'ai construite pour les modules du Mos-lab 2500.
I checked the french text generated automatically by youtube and did some corrections, so the english translation is available and not too bad."

"I recorded on 2 tracks in the DAW. Track 1 is the output of filter 2 and track 2 is output of filter 1 (hihat sound made with noise).
I don't have a multiplier in the 2500. So to multiply the clock of the hihat I simply copied the hihat track in the DAW afterwards and shifted it a bit to make it a double of the main clock.
I send the output of the sequencer to a quantizer before going back into the matrix to control the CV of the 3 oscillators."

"Exploring diverse sonic territories with the Los-lab 2500 and a couple of Scrotum Lab modules (Radio Music & Orgone Accumulator MK1).
As info, on my channel all the videos with a date in the title are recordings of my sessions on the modular. Direct takes while I improvise with the modular. These are not 'songs' or pieces in song format, just moments of joy making electronic sounds and sharing with you here."

Morning jam with the Mos-lab 2500

video upload by batchas

"I've had a lot of fun improvising with the system this morning. I hope you'll enjoy too.
I took the patch from the day before, change the sequence, added the 1047 Filter/Resonator, tweaked some values... A new chapter!"

"Focusing on Filter/Resonator 1047. As usual I record the session with the modular, not focusing on musicality or composition. Simply enjoying frequencies. It sounds pretty good on the Neumann monitors, now that its in a nice walnut case ;)"

Analogue Solutions Introduces the TC5000 - ARP 2500 Inspired Synthesizer

video upload by sonicstate

"Tom's stand is hard to miss, always something massive and/or impressive to catch your attention ;-]

This year it's the turn of the TC5000, a synthesizer drawing inspiration from the ARP2500 with a patch matrix system along the lines of those he has developed since the Vostok. The TC5000 has a unique mix of circuits - compiled from years of development in products like the Fusebox and Colossus - and its user interface, for ease of patching across upper and lower matrices.

With a host of modules, including oscillators, filters, sequencers, and dual spring reverbs, Tom plans to provide a comprehensive package, with potential expansions through additional "wings" or systems.

Price is expected to be in the £22K range, available towards the end of the year"

This one is in via Soviet Space Child.

via Analogue Solutions:

"ANALOGUE PATCH PIN MATRIX SYNTH

This product is so new, we haven’t even finished this web page!

The selection of modules that will be configured in the final system will differ from the pre-production unit features in the current photographs.

WE ARE TAKING PRE-ORDERS NOW (DEPOSIT REQUIRED).
ETA TOWARDS THE END OF THE YEAR.

This is not an ARP2500 clone! TC5000 ustilises Analogue Solutions’ own circuits. Some are adapted from our other stunning synthesizers, like Leipzig, Telemark and Fusebox. Plus some new designs especially for this synthesizer.

TC5000 features two full width patch pin matrix panels that provide the same kind of UI experience that made the ARP2500 so incredible.

Using TC5000 for sounds design will give you a similar experience to the ARP. User interface is a very important aspect of sound design. It really isn’t all about the filter. How you interact with a synth is equally important. Different UI and working approaches means you will come up with patches you might otherwise not have come across using say, patch leads."

Improvisation on Matrix 12 and Yusynth modular by wo visiting friends

video upload by yusynthman

Update:

Two passionate friends visiting my studio. (2)

"Last Saturday afternoon, I had the visit of two musician friends visiting my synth studio. Here, the 'dread lock giant' is having a lot of fun tweaking a sequence on my Yusynth modular synth, while I manage to play a few notes and chords on the Memotron (a modern recreation of the Mellotron by Manikin Elecronic) to accompany the sequence. The other visitor is behind the camera and makes a kind of panoramic view of my music studio."
