7/10/23 (alternate take) DIY Ray Wilson / MFOS synthesizer + Zerosum Inertia 6AS6 + Metasonix R-57

video upload by

"This video contains more filter sweeps than the video previously posted on 7/10/23, and the MFOS filter cutoff settings cause the Zerosum Inertia 6AS6 Signal Combiner to generate different rhythms than in the previous video. Two MFOS LFOs (at audio rate) go to Zerosum Inertia 6AS6, get combined, go to the MFOS filter, and go one channel on the R-57."

MFOS Noise Toaster (Luna_NT) Analog Synthesis Demo and Tutorial

video upload by CatSynth TV

"The Luna_NT was a custom build of the Noise Toaster from Music From Outer Space (MFOS). It is basically a full analog subtractive synthesizer voice, with VCO, VCF, VCA and two modulation sources: AR envelope and LFO. We go over each of the parameters of this instrument in detail and provide a basic tutorial on analog subtractive synthesis in the process.

Luna Lab Noise Research, which created this instrument, apparently no longer exists. However, one can still get the original Noise Toaster, including the PCB designed by the late Ray Wilson, as a kit from https://synthcube.com

You can also find the original design at https://musicfromouterspace.com

00:19 Background on the MFOS Noise Toaster and our Luna_NT version
01:22 Basic demo including bass sounds
02:51 VCO, and modulation with LFO and envelope generator
08:17 VCF parameters and modulation

The DIY Strings/Choir-Synthesizer 3.0 Demo

Andreas Remshagen

"This is the second Modification of my DIY Strings/Choir-Synthesizer
You hear 15 different Sound-examples repeating the same theme
- Please write in the comments which is your favorite!
Each Strings-Group from the four Groups has its own CV-1V/Oct in
and each is connected to one CV-out of a Polyend Poly2. So there is a
4-voice-Polyphony playable over a PC or a MIDI-keyboard. I added a
Gate-in that is connected to the poly2's first gate-out. The gate in drives
a variable Attack-Release for the whole Strings.
one Oscillator in each Strings-Group is tuned one Octave higher
for a larger sound
The Effects i used are a
modified behringer Vintage-Phaser (i'll explain in my next vid) and a
Yamaha FX-500.
the Settings of the FX-500 are:

REV + MOD on,

REV: TYP: DLY, MIX: 50, LVL: +1, L-DLY: 150.0, R-DLY: 300.0, FB: 1, L=R

MOD: TYP: SYM, SPED: 0.7, DEP: 80, MIX: 90, LVL: +5

The Attack-Release cirquit i took from Ray Wilsons Noise-Toaster
The VCA circuit comes from YuSynths site www.yusynth.net
The full description of the Strings-Synth you'll find in the first Strings-Synth
Video"

Eurorack MFOS Noise Toaster

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. NOISE TOASTER MOD Rack Eurorack size panel BY nvd new voodoo design newvoodoodesign.com

Published on Apr 19, 2014 J Tracy·6 videos

via this auction

"This is a MFOS Noise Toaster analog synthesizer built/modified by New Voodoo Design as a prototype/example model for a customer who wanted a series of MFOS synthesizers in panels that would fit in a Eurorack rack. This one could be put into any rack that would fit that size panel (bit more than 5" in height) or in an enclosure/box of almost any type (hammond, radio shack, etc) or left as it is.
Has the Guitar (1/4") In mod, but this does NOT mean this is a 'guitar synth'-that mod merely allows an audio in to the VCF.
There is also another mod to allow voltage in to control the VCO
Other notable things:
Wide Range VCO
White Noise Generator
LED freq indicator
low Pass Filter
VCA
AR Generator with Repeat or Manual Pushbutton
LFO with Square, Integrated Square and Differentiated Square waves
Nicely Normalized Switching Scheme
PCB Has Pads for Interface to Other DIY Projects.
Uses one 9V Battery (portable)
Low Current Design Extends Battery Life
Makes a plethora of plethoras of cool and interesting sounds
That's pretty much it. Quality design, very cool analog synth sounds can be had from this."

Kurt James Werner modified Music From Outer Space Noise Toaster

Published on Oct 31, 2013 Kurt Werner·3 videos

"My modified version of the Music From Outer Space (MFOS) Noise Toaster. I changed the Noise Toaster's semi-fixed architecture to a patchable / modular one, allowing one to reroute signals at will w/ banana cables. Here's a little demo of the kind of sounds you can make with it. The front panel is laser-cut birch laminated onto a cigar box.

I'll be posting a write-up on how to build this @ ccrma.stanford.edu/~kwerner."

http://musicfromouterspace.com

Update via Kurt in the comments: "Thanks for posting my work! :) The write-up is up, at https://ccrma.stanford.edu/~kwerner/MFOSmod.html."
