JSI Polymoog Resonator

via this auction

"JSI Polymoog Resonator desktop module.

It's essentially the resonator section from a Moog Polymoog.

Here's some info from the JSI website:

'Resonator is a Polymoog inspired formant filter that is intended to emulate static resonances that are typical for acoustic instruments. Its three non-overlapping bands have frequency, gain, and emphasis or resonance controls.

All three bands can be switched between Low pass, High pass, and two Band pass modes (Band pass 'notch').'"

JSI also makes the PROGUE, Moog Rogue & Prodigy desktop synth. This is the first post to feature the JSI Resonator. Curious if it's based on the JH Resonator.

Polymoog Resonator Dotcom module build (by Synthpro)

Published on Mar 30, 2016 synthpro

"This is an idea I have had for a while but finally had a drive to try it. I had a very sick polymoog board and turned it into a dotcom rack module for a friend.

Still working the bugs out of the circuit but believe it is going to work very well once complete."

Polymoog Resonantor Clone PCB preview

via JH

"I'm taking pre-orders for these PCBs now.

(See http://www.jhaible.de/resonator/resonator.html for details about the project.)

Pricing is EUR 27.00 per board plus a single EUR 6.00 shipping flat charge for worldwide shipping, regardless how many boards you are ordering and where you live.

It does *not* include any customs fees or tax that you may (or may not) have to pay in your county.

What you get is a double-sided printed circuit board with component overlay, approx. size 160mm x 100mmm.

You have to buy the electronic components for this, and build the device, yourself. (Check the above website regularly for updates and building hints, bill of matrials etc.)

I reserve the right to cancel orders if a certain number of total orders isn't reached.

But I will not take any money before I actually have th emanufactured boards in my hands!

If you want to place a pre-order, please send me an email to the following adress:

jhaible debitel.net

and use the FOLLOWING FORM (fill in your data instead of [], for instance: "2 Boards" instead of "[quantity] Boards")

===== Start of Email Order Form ===============

Email Subject line: Polymoog Resonator order: [quantity] boards

Email text:

I'm ordering [quantity] pieces of the Polymoog Resonator PCB for EUR 27.00 per board + EUR 6.00 single shipping flat charge for any number of boards.

I'm aware that I may have to pay additional amounts of customs and tax in my country.

I'm also aware that I'm only buying blank PCBs that may help me building an electonic module - I'm *not* buying a diy kit, not a "project" - just pieces of FR4 with copper traces.

I know how to build electronic circuits and I am trained in electrical safety matters.

The seller of these PCBs will not be held responsible for any damage that results from these PCBs, directly or indirectly.

JH Polymoog Resonator + voltage control and Voice of Saturn

JH Polymoog Resonator + voltage control and Voice of Saturn from Travis Thatcher on Vimeo.

"Quick demo of the JH Polymoog Resonator module. I added voltage control using 6 vactrols, 2 for each frequency band in paralel with the dual pots that control the frequency offset.

Still need to work out a better way to get direct sound."

Polymoog Resonator Section

YouTube via Elhardt. follow-up to this post.

"This is an unplanned demo I threw together today of a Polymoog 3 Band Resonator that I ripped out of my Polymoog and built into a stand-alone unit for processing sounds. It consists of three filters in parallel which all be switched to lowpass, bandpass, or highpass modes. Each filter has three controls: frequency, resonance, and amplitude. It's one of the unique things about the Polymoog synthesizer which you don't find in any other polyphonic analog synth.

What happened to the rest of my Polymoog? I used the Polymoog case to built a coffee table, of which you can see a few pictures at the end of the video. That was sold off. The rest of my Polymoog was sold for parts to quite a few people. My Polymoog just had too many problems to bother putting in the time and effort to fix."

Polymoog 3-Band Resonator for Sale/Auction

via Elhardt on the Moog Forum
"I've been going back and forth as to whether I want to sell this thing because even though that was my original intention, the end result is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, stand-alone unit, that I put quite a bit of work into extricating from my Polymoog and getting it built. It's essentially a 3 Band Variable Formant Filter for all kinds of tonal modifications, similar to the Polyfusion module that somebody just put up on ebay, but the Polymoog Resonator can also switch the filters into lowpass and hipass modes in addition to bandpass, and it covers a greater range of frequencies. See links for Polyfusion comparison:

[http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2009/08/rare-polyfusion-modular-moog-format.html - note the original link went to the Polyfusion formant filter auction, but that will expire in time so I added the post link]
http://www.flickr.com/photos/matrixsynth/30931197/

I was originally going to put it up at $550 + shipping (Paypal preferred, I'm located in Cary, NC and can also be picked up for cash), but the only way to give more people a shot at buying it, since there's only one of these on the planet, is to allow them to bid on it if they want to pay more than that amount. So it goes up here at the initial bid of $550. If somebody offers that amount and nobody else bids, it's yours. I'll give it about a week (bid increments of a minimum of $10). For anybody not a member of the Moog Forum, you can email me with a bid and I can post that to the thread. If it doesn't sell, it will probably go on ebay, or maybe I'll end up keeping it for a while. A bunch of pictures are at the link below, and it includes everything you see in the 3rd photo down (Resonator, Power Supply, and a couple of 1/4" cables).

http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/search?q=polymoogerfooger [Note this is a search on polymoogerfooger which will bring up this post as well. The prior two posts are here and here].

I can be contacted at my last name, which is my Moog Forum user name, same as my last name, followed by @att.net (just to avoid those internet scanning spambots) for those not registered on the Moog Forum who might have questions or want to bid.

Stand-Alone Polymoog Resonator - (Polymoogerfooger)

via Elhardt on AH: "Preliminary pictures of a one-of-a-kind stand alone Polymoog 3 Band Resonator. Just one more thing my defunct Polymoog synth produced as I don't believe in wasting any part of a Polymoog. It makes a great external processing unit. After I get the finishing parts from Mouser, it will also have a red/green bypass/enable LED on the front panel and will probably go up for sale or auction if I can manage to part with it.

Polymoog 203a Vintage Analog Synthesizer

YouTube Published on Oct 3, 2012 by Sjobeck7

"Recorded / improvised with my Roland CR-68 (Compu Rhythm) on minimal setting.
From the Polymoog I had the direct output and resonator outputs fed into my Behringer mixer while the VCF output was fed into my Ibanez UE 305 with Analog Chorus,Delay and Compressor all engaged and output back into my cruddy mixer.
I was obviously tweaking the sound in spots... Most notably the VCF Cutoff and sometimes S/H rate etc. Towards the end, or somewhere in the middle I brought down the release for a more plucky sound while the lower half of the Polymoog had a bit more sustain... Unfortunately I recorded this to digital (Tascam DP01FX) It sounded much nicer through my Tascam 688 Cassette 8-track but then I couldn't transfer it to this media from there. Also, my Polymoog is only offering out Square waves at this time or else it would have sounded even way more complex and OTHERWORLDLY!!!
I have a feeling the Blondie and Gary Numan mostly used just Squarewaves anyway for their string sound... Though ealy 70's Ultravox relied more heavily on the deeper and fat sounding Polymoog sawtooth waveforms..."

Polymoog undergoing restoration

Published on Jun 12, 2019 SynthDan1

"In April 2019, against my better judgement, my friend Martin and I purchased a broken Polymoog (but aren't they all?). We've fixed issues with the power supply, octave divider chips, and a multiplexer chip in the resonator section. We've replaced all the LEDs and dismantled, cleaned, and lubricated every single slider. There are still a few minor issues (aren't there always?) but the Polymoog has roared back to life, and you can see and hear how great this instrument has become."

Grove PM Resonator Eurorack Module in Yellow

via the Grove Audio Blog
http://www.groveaudio.com

"The Eurorack version is shown here. It is 17.5HP wide and accommodate 2.5mm pitch mounting holes." MOTM format is now available as well.

via the PM Resonator page & previously posted here: "The PM Resonator is a recreation of the formant filter section of a Polymoog™ synthesizer in a standard 5U double-width modular panel. Each of the three filter channels has a control for frequency, signal gain, and emphasis or resonance.

A rotary switch selects the type of filter mode for each of the three channels. The modes are low pass, bandpass, band notch, and high pass."

2010 Build Pictures on electro-music.com

I haven't put up a post on the 2010 Build Pictures thread on electro-music.com in a while. Check out the thread for more. Pictured here is davebr JH based system. Be sure to check out his site linked below.

"I've completed a number of Jurgen Haible, Thomas Henry, and other modules in 2010.

Top Row (left to right)
Haible Polymoog Resonator, Haible Scanner/Chorus Vibrato, Haible Frequency Shifter, and Haible Varislope Filter/Phaser

The holes in the center of the knobs on the Scanner/Chorus Vibrato are for the LED indicators. I used clear shaft potentiometers with the LEDs behind the potentiometers. I needed clear center knobs so I drilled holes and glued in an eyelet.

Bottom Row (left to right)
Buchla Lopass Gate, Henry VCLFO, Wogglebug, Henry VCO, Haible Living VCO

Information on all my modules is on my site.

Inside the Stand-Alone Polymoog Resonator - (Polymoogerfooger)

This is a follow-up to this post.

via Elhardt on the AH list:
"Now that I got the external power supply and other parts and finished it, I took a photo of the inside, back, and a new one of the front now that there's a red/green LED there which works just like the Moogerfoogers. That means it's green when the unit is enabled, and red when bypassed."
