Buchla Easel Command 208C - Luna II

video upload by TheTrackdriver

"This is 'Luna part II'. I'm performing with my Buchla Easel Command 208C, Strymon Volante and Strymon Nightsky. The audio is sampled continuously on the Elektron Octatrack in two alternating recording buffers. The third track is trigging the samples and adds various effects. The final piece was recorded onto a compact cassette.

The moon was recorded with a Panasonic DC-G9 with a Leica DG Vario Elmarit 100-400mm lens mounted on an Olympus telekonverter MC-20 (2X zoom)."

Part 1 here.

Buchla Easel Command 208C - In the Loop

video upload by TheTrackdriver

"Playing with the looper on the Strymon Volante delay pedal. I'm using the Akai LPD8 as a keyboard which is connected to the Buchla Easel Command 208C. The Easel and the Gakken Toy Record Maker go into a Behringer Xenyx 1002FX mixer which main output goes through the Volante. The audio chain ends with the Strymon Nightsky pedal. I had recorded a sustained chord from a Waldorf Blofeld onto the vinyl before this session."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Glowing Hand

video upload by TheTrackdriver

"I am playing with my Easel breakout box for the first time that I have designed and built myself. The hidden functions has now been brought to the front panel of this aux card and I added a few extra features like attenuators and a light beam modifier (Roland D-Beam-ish controller)."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - From the Balcony

video upload by TheTrackdriver

"I played my Buchla Easel Command 208C on my balcony. The Buchla is recorded on an Uher 4200 Report Stereo IC tape recorder. A simple drum pattern is running from an Elektron Octatrack and recorded on an Aiwa TP-721. The drums were further processed through an Elektron Analog Heat."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Critters

video upload by TheTrackdriver

"I have completed my Buchla boat so I have three clones now that I have built - 266, 281 and 245. They came in kits with knobs and all but I customised mine so they would look more like my Easel. The chords comes from the Waldorf Blofeld and the bass from the Moog Sub 37.

The video is a mix of different animals and sceneries that I have filmed during the latest six months."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Orange

video upload by TheTrackdriver

"A piece of music recorded live. The two melodic stems come from the Buchla Easel Command 208C which is receiving MIDI from Steinberg Nuendo plus the internal sequencer. Some parameters are controlled by the Buchla 281 clone and the glide at the end by the 266. Chords are from the Waldorf Blofeld, bass from the Moog Sub37 and drums from the Akai Rhythm Wolf.

The blackbirds were filmed with a Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 with a Panasonic Leica DG 100-400 lens. The bird song was captured with a Røde VideoMic GO II."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Glow

video upload by TheTrackdriver

"A semi-generative piece of music. I recently built a 266 Source of uncertainty clone from Samodular which is sending random quantised notes to the Buchla Easel Command 208C. The range is set by the pitch sliders on each oscillator. The Easel sends the pulser signal to the 266 which splits them up and send them back to each lo pass gate with some random stuff added.

The chords comes from a Waldorf Blofeld and the bass from a Moog Sub 37. I used some pedals and a Roland Chorus Echo RE-301 for effects and recorded everything onto a cassette tape (Marantz PMD 430 recorder)."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Luna

video upload by TheTrackdriver

"Generative music made on a Buchla Easel Command 208C. Effects comes from a Roland Chorus Echo RE-301 only. The program card in the background has a couple of resistors added and the Korg SQ-1 outputs random pitch variations.

I filmed the moon with a Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 with a Panasonic Leica 100-400mm lens."

Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1 UW+ MK II - X04 Dub

video by TheTrackdriver

"All sounds are from the Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1 UW+ MK II. I am only using the new features that came with the X.04 unofficial OS, mainly in the GND machines (melodic). I used a CT-scan of my Machinedrum for the visualisations. The clips are rendered with Inside Explorer Pro from Interspectral AB."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Rainy Day

video by TheTrackdriver

"All sounds except the rain and birds (played back at half speed) are from the Buchla Easel Command 208C. The complex oscillator is routed through an Elektron Analog Heat for distortion and is then drenched in effects in Ableton Live."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Amazing Grace

video by TheTrackdriver

"My version of 'Amazing Grace'. All sounds are from the Buchla Easel Command 208C drenched in effects, mainly from Valhalla DSP. A few tracks were pre-recorded in Ableton Live. The complex oscillator is sequenced and controlled via MIDI channel 1 and the modulation oscillator on channel 3."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Tremor

video by TheTrackdriver

"All sounds are from the Buchla Easel Command 208C including the vinyl scratch. They were sampled and are played back from an Elektron Octatrack which is also sequencing the modulation oscillator on MIDI channel 3. The bellish sound from the complex oscillator is triggered and sequenced by the built-in sequencer on the Easel."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Murky Waters

video by TheTrackdriver

"A sonic exploration with the Buchla Easel Command 208C. The Elektron Octatrack is playing back a few audio tracks with pre-recorded loops from the Easel and a MIDI track while I am improvising."

Release Me

video by TheTrackdriver

"A live recording with my Buchla Easel Command 208C. It is controlled by and run through an Elektron Octatrack which is also adding effects. The long reverb comes from an Alesis Midiverb III.

Each oscillator receives MIDI on different channels and the audio has also been separated - the complex oscillator from a master output and the modulation oscillator from the gate 2 signal output."

Buchla Easel Command 208C - Arpeggio

video by TheTrackdriver

"Made my first video with the Buchla Easel Command 208C that I bought from Signal Sounds in Scotland. The Easel is connected with a MIDI cable to an Elektron Octatrack which is running an arpeggiator. I am changing patterns later in the video so each oscillator receives a different MIDI sequence on separate MIDI channels - the complex oscillator on channel 2 and the modulation oscillator on channel 3. The audio goes through the Octatrack with some effects added and then recorded on my computer."
