"hi all,

started working on some scapes for a new collab of mine recently and finally patched the Buchla 200e with the Serge.
my findings:

as a cv-source and for cv attenuation/mixing/offseting, Serge works really nice with the Buchla. i have lots of attenuators and cv processors in my Serge, so i use them with Buchla patches as well. they work fine!

Serge gates and triggers work fine triggering Buchla 281e, but you need to mult a serge gate/trigger into 2 inputs of a cv-processor (or 'dual processor' or 'Mix pro' or 'scale processor') AND add a little bit of voltage offset to the total. i guess that means that the serge gate/trigger then has a voltage level of around 12 volts. but that is the only way for the 281e to be triggered. but it works!

still have not tried audio between the two beasts, as the audio level in Buchla, being around 1 volt pp, is much lower than the Serge audio levels... when i have new findings regarding that issue will let you know.

so, for now, the verdict is that Serge and Buchla 200e talk really fine in terms of cv/gate/trigger's!"

Parallel Worlds' new release Tonal Paintings is now available here. The above is the 2nd track off of the release. Be sure to check out the rest. It's a great instrumental album, and a bit diverse. If you enjoyed Parallel Worlds recent Dystopia, you will enjoy this release. It is a bit more minimal, but delivers just as well. The album is reminiscent of a film score at times. You'll hear hints of John Carpenter and soundscapes that would be home in an X-Files soundtrack, however, everything is uniquely Parallel Worlds.

The SYNC inputs work much better, with the points of tuning between the master & slave optimized. The sync 'grab' is now much 'deeper' into the harmonics.

Shade is the studio album follow-up to Obsessive Surrealism (DiN26 - 2007) and is the fifth CD release by Parallel Worlds (the main musical project of Greek electronic musician Bakis Sirros).

Parallel Worlds employ a vast arsenal of both vintage and modern analogue modular synthesisers with extensive use of classic sequencing techniques to produce a sonic world that combines modern electronica and ambient music styles with the feel of retro electronic music. Notes on the production:

Made entirely with eurorack and Serge modular sysystems. It was created without midi and midi-cv converters; only cv's, gates and triggers, countless lfo's, vca's & many vco's, vcf's and adsr's. I also used analogue sequencers, analog shift registers, quantizers, trigger delays, rotating clock dividers, clock multipliers, harmonic oscillators, granular processor & more. NO conventional keyboard was used.
