Barton Musical Circuits BMC106 Resonant Glide

video upload by boogdish

via Barton Musical Circuits

"This module is composed of two Sallen-Key low pass filters designed to be used on very low frequencies. When pitch control voltages are processed through this, it creates a portamento which then turns into vibrato. Depending on resonance control, this vibrato can die out almost immediately or go on for the duration of the note. When used with envelope generators, this module can be used to add extra "bumpiness" to an envelope signal allowing for more harmonic content. With a gate signal, the module can be used as a simple envelope generator with equal sloped attack and release.

This design can be used with +/-15V systems without modification"

M2C Short Demo.mpg

YouTube Uploaded by fonitronik on Jun 30, 2011

"This is a short vid demontrating the basic functions of Dave Kendall's CMOS based MIDI 2 Clock Converter.
For the patch i use the M2C (controlled by Cubase), my new BinSeq (divider/attenuverter based sequencer), Boogdish's simple Quantizer and my dual X-4046 VCO (Thomas Henry).
For clocking the BinSeq i use the gate out of the M2C, the stop out resets the BinSeq. So each time i stop the Cubase sequencing software the BinSeq gets a reset. When staring the pattern from the beginning, the sequencer is in sync again."

BMC114 Diode Break Shaper

video upload by boogdish

"New waveshaper module. PCBs are available for DIY builders. Links to documentation, mp3 sound samples and purchasing info are found at:
https://www.bartonmusicalcircuits.com..."

BMC114 Diode Break Shaper Schematic Walkthrough

"This module splits a waveform into 5 bands of voltage ranges and then mixes those bands together with attenuverters. The break points between bands can be controlled with external CV. This allows for harmonically complex outputs that remind me of strings and woodwinds.

Compatible with 12V or 15V systems. The Pots are PCB mounted, but all jacks are off-board."

"This is a step sequencer module. It has an internal clock with it's own output as well as two programmable output channels. It has EEPROM save/load function (saves patterns after powering down), and a range of 2 to 32 steps. LEDs, Pots, and Switches are all mounted to the PCB to minimize wiring while allowing for 1/4" and 1/8" jacks to be used with the same PCB."

Barton Musical Circuits 1Song Demos

Published on Jan 29, 2014 boogdish·25 videos

"This is the first demo of the '1song' module by Barton Musical Circuits. For more information visit http://www.bartonmusicalcircuits.com/..."

1Song Demo2

1Song Demo 3

"'1Song' is a simple, microcontroller centered synthesizer module for generative (self composing) music. It both composes the melodies and produces the audio itself, requiring no other modules to make music, but it also features inputs and outputs for timing which help it integrate with other modules in a modular synthesizer system. It can also be built in a stompbox style enclosure without these inputs and outputs and act as a standalone music producer, powered from a 9V battery or power adaptor.

The melodies that '1 Song' produces are not traditional melodies produced from a diatonic scale and using duple or triple meter for rhythms. Instead, it composes by using algorhythms to produce semi-random numbers, and uses these numbers for it's pitch and length a note is held. Notes are held anywhere from 1 to 16 beats, and there are a total of 64 different notes which can be played. The notes are not arranged 12 per octave, but rather as divisions of the highest frequency, the lowest note it produces is 1/64th the frequency of the highest, the second lowest note is 1/63rd, and so on.

The board features PC mounted pots for less wiring, and mounting holes for flexibility in panel layout. There are Eurorack and MOTM power connecters."

"This is a demo for a new DIY synthesizer module I designed. If you're interested in building this, you can find ordering information, a documentation PDF and a front panel drill guide at http://www.bartonmusicalcircuits.com/..."

"Utility Buttons is a performance/controller module that provides gate/trigger outputs based on button presses. Buttons can be set to act as momentary, latching or tap tempo. Each channel has two outputs, one of which can be configured as a Multiple, inversion or trigger of the other output.

This module works on either 12V or 15V systems with no modification. The switches are mounted to the PCB to minimize wiring, but jacks are offboard so it can be easily used in multiple synthesizer formats. Outputs are +5V."

Barton Musical Circuits BMC111 CMOS CHIME

video uploads by boogdish

via Barton Musical Circuits

This is a percussive voice composed of four CMOS square wave oscillators with manual frequency controls. The harmonies between them create metallic chiming sounds. Two of the oscillators have mute switches to simplify the sound, and a loop toggle allows you to create repeating sounds.

Compatible with 12V or 15V systems, PC mounted pots, but jacks/toggles are offboard.
