Charlottenburg, Live Ambient Impro, Wavestate, MicroFreak v3, Volca Drum, Monologue

"In this live improvised jam, I introduce the Wavestate to some old and new friends - MicroFreak, Monologue, Volca Drum, Novation Circuit, 3 Zoom MS-70CDRs and Korg NTS-1. The only prerecorded sequence is the drums on Volca Drum. The rest of the jam is live playing and active use of the arpeggiators on the Wavestate and MicroFreak. The recorded video is annotated with some notes about the performance.

During the jam, I let each synth/layer have a solo part where it is up front and center - the MicroFreak, the Monologue and the two arp parts and the pad part on the Wavestate. I try to think of them as different members of a band.

The Wavestate patch/performance is a slightly modified version of "WF Charlottenburg" and is a part of the "Berlin School and Ambient Construction Kit" available here: https://gumroad.com/waveformer​.

It has four layers - 2 arpeggiators, one arpeggiated bass and one pad. I added some inharmonic wavesamples to steps 9-16 of the pad sample wavesequence, moved around a few notes and rests on the timing lanes for the two arps, added some octave shifts to the pitch sequences, and some ratcheting to one of the arps.

During the jam, I play around with the wavesequence lanes for all the four layers - timing lane to change rhythm, sample lane to vary the wavesamples, pitch lane to add some octave changes to some notes, shape to add ratcheting, and gate to add some variation to note length. The wavesequence loop lengths are different from lane to lane, creating interesting polymeter effects. I also modify pan, filter cutoff, envelope decay and reverb mix through the jam.

Pollen(8) is a "full featured" 8 voice 2 oscillator virtual analog synthesizer for your Daisy pod. "Full featured" includes:

2 Oscillators per voice with the following features:
Smoothly mix from Triangle to Saw....
Or from Saw to Variable Pulse Width
Oscillator Sync
White Noise Generator
2 LFOs
Currently LFOs are triangle only, this may change in the future if demand sees fit.
These are applicable to pitch, pulsewidth and filter cutoff.
Low pass filter with resonance
Filter Overdrive - Allows you to overdrive and clip the input to the filter
Four play modes supported:
Polyphonic - 8 voice polyphony
Monophonic - 1 voice only
Unison - All 8 voices / 16 oscillators playing at once
Poly-Unison - All 8 voices play at once, but the voice pitches are re-allocated as the number of keys pressed change.
Unison spread from 0 cents to up to 1 octave per voice!
Two pitchbend modes supported:
Standard, where the position of the pitchbend determines the pitch
Motion-bend - where moving the pitchbend wheel determines the speed at which the pitch bend occurs
Pitchbend key range
So you can keep bass notes in tune while pitch bending higher notes, or vice versa, etc.

All of this is controllable via two buttons, and two knobs, using the RGB leds to indicate the current menu - with the encoder serving the File read/write functions. In addition, the seed LED is used to indicate MIDI activity, and will glow inverted if you are on an unused menu.
The encoder wheel is used to control the SD card file reading and writing.

Cathedral, Theatre, Haze and Mist are four new deep reverbs that use a low pass filter (Cathedral and Theatre) and a high pass filter for Haze and Mist. The minimum reverb times are half for Theatre and Mist, but all reverbs allow a maximum of 'infinite' reverb time.

Breathe (and "sniff") are similar, only with a little more modulation in the reverberators, and the filter frequency is controlled automatically via signal presence.

Note at 1:08 you "shake" the depth knob to erase the recording. Thought that was interesting. The SDK of course allows you to program your code however you chose.

Oxide is a delay that uses a "variable rate" approach (vs a variable read position) - resulting in a very 'tape' or even BBD style delay. Feedback greater than 100% is possible for some very noisy results!"

"Without using any custom oscillators, you can generate a "laser harp" type sound with your minilogue XD...!

The settings are roughly (see video for details)
OSC1 Full amplitude, 2nd octave square wave at 50%
OSC2 1/3 amplitude, highest octave square wave at 25%
- OSC2 pitch also a fifth above (+700C)
Sync on ring off
EG no attack decay 700-800 or so, INT 17-18%
Filter cutoff ~600, maybe a little resonance
Use the LFO as a second EG, by selecting 1-SHOT mode, and use the sawtooth shape for an attack only sound.
LFO Rate 600, LFO int +300.
A chorus added (I used my "hera" chorus as it is somewhat similar sounding) and you should be done!
