MAM MB-33 mk2 Analog Bass Synth

via this auction
"The MB 33 is a rack-mounted TB-303 clone released in the mid-nineties by German synth maker MAM (Music And More). It's basically a re-packaged Freebass 383. It is a true analog monophonic bass synthesizer with MIDI implementation so you can create 303-like bass lines from your sequencer. Its single VCO offers the same two basic waveforms as the TB-303: a sawtooth and square wave. But in the MB 33 they can be mixed together for a more interesting tone than the 303 could originally produce.

Additional knobs control the VCO tuning, filter frequency cutoff, resonance, envelope mod amount, envelope decay time and accent intensity - the same controls found on the TB-303! The 24dB lowpass filter can also produce the characteristic sound of the 18 dB filter used in the original 303. There's also an auto-slide function (4 octave range) for producing those 303-style slides and a separate input for filtering external signals through it. Unfortunately there is no program storage.

MB 33 mkII
The MB 33 mkII (pictured above) released in 1998 adds a few more features. The 24dB filter has been replaced by an 18dB filter just like the original TB-303 used. A new sub-oscillator was added and can be mixed with the other two waveforms for even meatier mono-bass sounds. A new distortion effect is also present and can be dialed-in to dirty things up - sounds great when resonated at high frequency cut-offs! MIDI can send/receive controls for the cutoff, resonance, ENV mod, accent, decay, distortion, and autoslide on/off."

Reaktor Spark

See the full write-up on CDM
"Native Instruments calls Schmitt’s latest creation “Spark,” but I like to think of it as the Schmitt Box – like a mysterious, powerful invention from a designer who loves to experiment. Stephan has been evolving the instrument in Reaktor through some 160 iterations. He uses foot pedals to modulate the sound live, and rails against the evils of dull, repeating LFOs. Spark ships as a Kore soundpack, so for US$59 you can fire it up right away and start playing, even without knowing how it works. Even better, though, is if you have a copy of Reaktor 5, because you can use the full-blown UI seen here to design your own sounds or even dig into the plumbing of the patch beneath. (It’s still worth looking at the Kore sound presets, because they’re consistent with Stephan’s approach of designing the sound for live performance.)"

via Native Instruments
"REAKTOR SPARK is based on a new and unique REAKTOR ensemble, resulting from three years of design and development work by Native Instruments founder and conceptual mastermind Stephan Schmitt. This KORE SOUNDPACK breathes new life into the concept of the subtractive synthesizer, adding a dynamic and unpredictable element that causes sounds to ignite into living and sometimes chaotic entities. As the father of REAKTOR, Stephan Schmitt has designed REAKTOR SPARK as his very own statement in synthesizer design."

Casio Christmas

via Kasio Kristmas on the forum

"Greetings everyone!

We just finished our experimental 10 track CD of classic Holiday tunes using only Casio instruments (mostly Casio keyboards, but we also used the Casio DH-100 Sax, DG-20 Guitar, and some Casio hand-held games). The recordings are mostly instrumental, but the few that do have vocals, we sampled our voices using the SK-1 & SK-5 or sang through the Casio VA-10 Vocoder, and Casio Rapman keyboards. This was an entirely fun and experimental project that we are very excited to have released. So far the respones has been great.

We hope that some of you here will have some time to check out what we have done with these old cheesy keyboards.
We have blended the nostalgic sounds of 1980's arcades, new wave, synth rock, modern electronica, chip tunes, ambient, atmospheric, disco, sountrack, jungle, & exotica all into one on this new Holiday CD. Even though limiting ourselveselves to only using Casio Instruments, extra care was taken to keep things interesting! It has many Audio layers and great production value . Isaiah Ikey Owens (The Mars Volta) plays a special appearance on the exotica honored track Mele Kalikimaka.

Thank you for your time and we hope to hear from you.
