Playing filters: Sherman Filterbank VS Elektron Monomachine

YouTube via gattobus
"Just I a little experiment I wanted to share with all synth freaks like me.

It's a drum loop filtered with ELEKTRON MONOMACHINE and SHERMAN FILTERBANK 2.
I took advantage from the perfect tracking capabilities of the Elektron digital filters to "extract" a melody from the drum loop.
The signal coming from the Monomachine triggers the envelope of the filterbank, then I tuned the filters frequency to get a deep bass-like sound.
The 2 filters of the Filterbank are also hard-synced at different octaves to get a more harmonic timbre.

I hope you'll like the result..."

Navs DIY Trigger Twin Dual Comparator

"Inspired by Peter Grenader's Triple Event Timer, I gave up on my original LM339 design and settled on a simple Op-Amp circuit. A timing CV is fed into the lower middle jack, pots one and two are used to adjust the delay time, triggers are output from the left and right jacks, orange LEDs indicate the on and off time."

Unniversity of Amherst EMS Synthi AKS Goes for $10,100

via this auction
details from the auction:
"Synthi from the Late Everett Hafner of EMSA. I bought it in 1996, it was his, and he had gotten it from the UMass Amerherst [sic] Physics/ Astronomy Dept. It is in perfect working order (including the KS), and was used for years as bench reference by JL (formerly of Musictek) when he had to fix one. The Spartanite case is beautiful, and it comes with the stand, the original power cable, and an additional power cable I had made, as well as the KS cable.
All original factory condition. Pre-Presto Patch. No modifications. As you can see in the pictures, there are a lot of pins of all different colors.

This is a once in a life time chance to own an absolutlely perfect specimen of the EMS Synthi AKS.

Check my upcoming auctions for EMS Synthi-related items. I will be selling a EMS DK1, as well as a MASSIVE collection of EMS paper ephemera."

Richard Lainhart on Cables, and his Buchla 200e Master Performance Patch

via Richard Lainhart on the Plan b list regarding Markertek cables:

"I use those cables with my 200e system, and I love them, although I don't think they're for everyone. Markertek makes them themselves to order, and I've never had a problem with the build quality (bad jacks, loose solder joints, etc.), and I've purchased over 50 of them. I'd purchased many cables from them in the past for my former job, and found the Switchcraft jacks and double-shield, double-lead format to be really reliable and clean. I got them for my system primarily for the color variety, because I've found that it makes it easier to trace the signal paths in complex patches, but I do appreciate the quality standards Markertek adheres to. Do those standards really make a difference in the signal quality in a modular synth? I don't know; I'm not sure I could hear the difference between these and other decent-quality cables, but I'm happy with them.

There is one drawback with these, though, and that's the size of the jacks and the thickness of the cables. Both are much greater than the original cables that shipped with the 200e, and as a result, the front panel tends to get more obscured in a complex patch. Here's the state of my current master performance patch:

http://www.otownmedia.com/Current_Master_Patch.jpg

It's gotten pretty dense over time, and you'll notice that in some places, particularly the lower left, the cable density is such that it's getting hard to get at the knobs. Thinner cables and smaller jacks would make that easier. But for me at least, the build quality and color selection make them worth it."

Sequential Circuits Pro-One Custom Wood Case

Another synthwood Pro-One born

I've seen these in person.
They are very, very nice.

Note the Moog/DSI style clear mod wheels. Synthwood.com offers a mod to add RGB leds.

Badalamenti Twin Peaks Love Theme

YouTube via Popcasting. sent my way via fischek.

Not a synth, but this one goes up.
"Badalamenti explains how he wrote the Twin Peaks Love Theme on an old Fender Rhodes sitting alongside David Lynch"

Update: a little trivia via bunnyman in the comments: "What's also cool about Angelo is that in the Sixties, he went by the name of Andy Badale - and worked with Jean-Jacques Perrey!"
