Make Noise Rene

Description via Make Noise

"I think, therefore I sequence.

René is the world's first and only Cartesian Sequencer for music synthesizers. Named for the French philosopher & mathematician René Descartes, it uses his cartesian coordinate system to unlock the analog step sequencer from the shackles of linearity.

The primary goal of this sequencer is to have a maximum amount of artist controlled musical variation, with a minimum amount of data input. There are no menus, ALL editing is done real-time, and thus, the programming of René becomes a key performance element.

"cartesian sequencer," "geometric sequencer," "planular sequencer," "axis sequencer," "non-linear sequential tuned voltage map,” all of these would be good descriptions for René.

René has up to 4 clock inputs and 2 CV inputs which may be used simultaneously to achieve complex, musical patterns output in the form of quantized voltages, non-quantized voltages and two gate/ pulse streams.

The faceplate for the René is a printed circuit board. It is black, with white and gold graphics.

This module is 34HP and consumes 80mA worth of current.

Available from Analogue Haven USA, Schneiders Buero Berlin, Post Modular UK, Moog Audio Canada."

DUBREQ PIANOMATE SYNTHESIZER AMP

via this auction

"This is a COMPLETE Dubreq PianoMate. This is a 1970s vintage piece of interesting technology from the people who brought you among other things, the Stylophone. It's a simple polyphonic synthesiser working on the divide down principal from a master oscillator (I'm told - i'm not an expert on PianoMates but it seems to work that way.) The idea was that any pianist could add the PianoMate to a piano by attaching the two (bass and treble) two octave bars above the keyboard. The two bars have plungers which sit over the piano keys. when a key is pressed by the player, the plunger is released, makes up a circuit and a note is played by the PianoMate as well. The two (bass and treble) plunger bars are attached by multi-pin plugs to what looks like a small combo amplifier. This has controls for tone, voice, articulation of vibrato, speed of vibrato and master tuning. There's a 'swell' pedal to allow control of the overall volume of the PianoMate and an input and volume control for a microphone...."
