Buchla 200 Improvisation 2006-01 Dowser

Dowser is Hiroyuki Nagashima, Masateru Terai and Takashi Miyagawa. Since their musical approach varies with every piece, their music cannot be described in short, however, it always evokes visual images. Using vintage synthesizers such as EMS, Buchla and latest DSP, the music they produce has sometimes barbaric and sometimes vulnerable feel. They have been working with several leading film directors, including Sogo Ishii, Katsuhiro Otomo, Kunitoshi Manda and Shinji Aoyama."

Mark Jenkin's "The iPad Album" Synth List

See the update in this post. Note "The iPad Album" precedes the new Gorillaz iPad album and technically appears to be the first commercially available album made with the iPad. However it is worth noting iMatik made withe the iPhone preceded both. See this post for reference. One thing that hasn't been done from what I can tell is an album produced and mixed on the iPad or iPhone from start to finish. Note: "Mark Jenkins is the author of "Analog Synthesizers" available worldwide through Amazon(posted here) and an internationally published music technology author and keyboard collector."

MGMT - Kids short cover on Alesis Ion synthesizer

YouTube via adzy31 | November 25, 2008 |

"me trying to recreate some of the sounds from "Kids" by MGMT. this is one take, the drums are from Reason and the rest is all from the Ion.

A few mistakes but i find it hard to multitask... bass, lead, keyboard and foot pedal are too many things for me to do at once :P

fairly short - i was going to record the entire song but thought....if i'm not singing on it, there's no point really, as the background music is fairly repetitive. maybe if i can find someone with a decent voice we can cover it properly?

the audio is straight from my digicam. i recorded the audio in this on the PC but the volume was messed up, and it sounds alright from the camera anyway."

And the original track (note this is not the official video, see below):

Lyrics: You were a child, Crawling on your knees toward it, Making momma so proud, But your voice is too loud, We like to watch you laughing, You pick the insects off plants, No time to think of consequences [Chorus: Control yourself, Take only what you need from it/him, A family of trees wanted, To be haunted] The water is warm, But it’s sending me shivers, A baby is born, Crying out for attention, The memories fade, Like looking through a fogged mirror, Decision to decisions are made, And not bought, But I thought this wouldn’t hurt a lot. I guess not.

Article about the video: http://www.canyon-news.com/artman2/pu...
About Abby and Rafael: www.myspace.com/abrafever
Just to set the story straight: the facepainted kids in the video are a boy and girl from Los Angeles, two friends of mine, names Raf and Abby. MGMT was not involved in the making of this video, however, they became involved down the line.
The story goes like this: December 2007: Rushing to make a due date for a USC Music Video class, I ask my friends Raf and Abby to appear in my video. I like the way they bounce off of each other despite completely different personality types, and think they both have interesting faces. Raf didn't want to shave so I didn't push him. We shot in one night, I cut overnight, turn it in and call it the worst thing I've done so far.
January 2008: On a whim one night while visiting home in Austin, Texas, I throw the video on Youtube just for kicks.
April 2008: Ray Tintori, who has directed 3 official videos for MGMT, finds my fan video online and invites myself and my two actors to come to New York to appear in MGMTs next official video for Electric Feel.
May 2008: We go to New York and have a great time on the set with the band and all their friends."

Anyone know what synths they use? The top one in the pic looks a bit like a KORG Poly-800.
