Replacing display on a Korg Wavestation A/D

YouTube Uploaded by RanKirlian on Mar 26, 2011

"Last evening I finally decided to replace the damaged display of my Korg Wavestation A/D. I've decided to document the operation with video and added some titles to explain the process.

I've also made a simple soundtrack with some of the most representative cinematic soundscapes of the Wavestation with no additional effects."

"Quick patch test with the modDemix and MakeNoise René sequencer running out to several modules for a slow animated control voltage jam. I started with QCV to 1V/ oct into the Cwejman VM-1 (Acid Slow Bassline). Then sent the X-Gate into the Cwejman CTG-VC envelope and I use Y-Gate for Accent/volume. I used the Doepfer 160,161,4ms RCD, SCD for clock divisions for gates into the rene for half time pattern playback. ModDemix was used in VCA mode with Rene going back and triggering the input for interesting gated time triggering of signals. The distant quantized melody is one voice of the VCO2-RM through the intellijel uScale then through Tiptops Z-5000 with a touch of delay. MakeNoise Brains and Pressure Points running in sequence mode to the Synthesis Technology E350, VCO2-RM, WMD Gamma Wave for extra clustering of timbres. The Cwejman BLD is the kick drum, and Noisering for high hats and snare patterns generated by the intellijel uStep.

You can download this app for free from the App Store. It works on IPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

[MINI-COMPOSER - Masayuki Akamatsu]

We made this app not only for artistic expression but also as a way to help bring relief to those affected by the recent major earthquake and tsunami disaster. The app includes a link to the American Red Cross donation site. Through our music we wish to give courage to the victims of this disaster and to call for assistance from people all over the world.

Thus, we would be very grateful if you could let your friends know about MINI-COMPOSER. It would also be much appreciated if you could introduce the app via blogs, Twitter, Facebook, news sites, newspapers, magazines, TV and so on.

Of course, we hope that you too will enjoy our music and will consider providing support to Japan.

Please feel free to forward this message to anyone you think would be interested. Thank you for your cooperation.

TUBON very rare electric keyboard

via this auction

"One of the rarest electric keyboards out there, the Tubon was manufactured in 1966 by Joh Mustad AB, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Only a small number were produced; fewer still survive.

Imagine a small, strap-on combo organ. The Tubon's sounds are straight out of Sixties organ-driven pop: contrabass, saxophone, electric bass, woodwind. A strong vibrato and adjacent volume control give on-board sound shaping options. Two nine-volt batteries, housed at one end of the tube, provide power. At the other end is a compartment where the strap can be stored.

Paul McCartney had a Tubon, though it probably was not used on record. Kraftwerk did use one, along with countless Swedish and Finnish bands...

Output is from a din connector. Included with this Tubon will be a cable with a din plug on one end and a 1/4" plug on the other. You can change the din to a 1/4" female connector if you like; I chose to leave it with the din, to keep it original."
