Square Beats for iOS

"Square Beats is a Sequencer, a Looper and a Sampler too... How many tracks available? How many bars available? As many as you need! Square Beats is really original. You create Squares. A Square contains 8 tracks and 3 to 16 Blocks (steps). You can assign an instrument to each Square (Visit the Shop for more instruments), or create your own ones (8 samples for an instrument). All the editing features are controlled by gestures. It is really hard for me to rate Square Beats because it depends on what you want to do with it... Let me explain... If you want to create a little sequence without complex melodies you can work very fast and have a lot of fun but if want to create a "real" song (3 minutes and melodies) it becomes much more complex... Why? Because a Square can contains only 8 notes, so you will have to create perhaps three or four Squares to create your melody for one bar and use the pitch feature. You can't set the volume of each Square tracks separately, so you will have to create perhaps two or three Squares for your rhythm track. At the end when you want to create your song structure it can become the hell... If the developer added a structure track which would allow you to move or copy an entire bar or a multiple selection gesture or a the possibility to group some square (easy to say...), Square Beats would be great for these two examples (and the AudioCopy Paste feature too). In conclusion it is really hard for me to rate it, because it really depends on what you want to do with it. For its originality, its great UI, if you want to have fun working on a simple sequence, Beat Square is Super App!"

Not a synth, but this is the sort of thing I hope to see on future hardware synths. It could be as simple as a indentation on the synth to rest the iPad on. The one thing for manufacturers to consider is how to connect to the iPad either via proprietary cable or via an extra set of MIDI Ins and Outs. If proprietary cable, it would be great if it could provide a charge to the iPad for long term use.  If you skip charging and a physical interface all together, bluetooth for wireless support could be an option as well.  You could then take the iPad off the dock and control the synth over wireless.

"my first synth, its an Atari Punk Console with 2 cv inputs, the first has an optional square (trig) osc feeding it...  It'ss like an APC but with the first osc's cv driven by a sqr wave osc, so it shakes and screams a bit more than a normal APC."

"vintage soviet analog delay\reverb\multi effects processor "PX-1000". It was produced on the "Estradin" factory in 1991, one of the last of its stock, while the factory suspended the productions right before the fall of the USSR (in 1991). The unit is RARE and is hard to find even in former Soviet countries. The device got amazing sound and solid construction of a rack size.

The front panel has knobs: Input,Volume, Balance, Tune, Reverb, Delay, Depth, Frequency.
Buttons: Power, Memory, 1x-4x, Bypass.

The item has cool pitch modulation function, also the "memory" button produces interesting sampler-like "stuttering" effect. The audio input\outputs are standart TRS 1\4 jacks. Also there is a 1/4 TRS "pedal" socket for connection to pedal or switch. PX-1000 signal processor produces sound that differs from well-known western processor brands. Unit sounds really fantastic - very wide and clean set of effects like delay-reverb-flanger-chorus! (check the Demo section). The mains power of the unit is 220 volts. For 110v countries I`ll include voltage converter. The unit is fully tested & is in ideal 100% working condition."
