"Using the littleBits Synth Kit as a customizable circuit bending interface for performance and exploration.

These are standard littleBits modules, flipped upside down and played by rubbing dampened fingertips over the exposed circuits.

Important note: only try this using a 9v battery source. You may damage your gear or, more importantly, yourself using other power supplies.

Funkular Synthesizer

"proof of concept for a new performance patch I am working on for improvisatory rhythming"

Funkular Rides Again from richard scott on Vimeo.

"The second in this "research" series of videos of improvising with patterns, rhythm and live interaction on a eurorack modular synthesizer. This one has a pretty straightforward tempo and rhythmic feel at its heart but no sequencer or drum machine is used - just control voltages and gates. With an, errm, spontaneous spoken, errm, introduction explaining not much."

Funkular falls off from richard scott on Vimeo.

"Third part of this "research" series exploring rhythm and interaction. This piece is non-metric, meaning the parts do not align with anything like "normal" barlines or note positions. Everything can be modulated in real time and the different parts can interact so more complex polyrhythms can be easily constructed which most digital software, drum machines and sequencers will never allow. Note the change in tempo halfway through, and the "broken" section at the end where Funkular falls off her horse... For the technically minded: this music is primarily constructed with a random voltage generator, Slope Detectors, shift registers, resonant filters (Cwejman MMF1) and Serge Universal Slope Generators (and quite a lot of VCAs)"

"In this video we are running a Mutable Instruments Braids through the Tiptop Audio Z2040 LP-VCF. The Cwejman RG-6 is being used to modulate the cutoff Frequency. The RG-6 is also pinging a Cwejman CTG-VC which is mixing with the RG-6's random CV's in a 4MS VCA Matrix to vary the FM signal applied to the Z2040. The Cwejman PH-4 is used to modulate the depth of FM being applied to the Z2040 LP-VCF."
