AJH Synth Mega Phase 12 Review

Published on Feb 8, 2018 SonicVoltage

"AJH Synth Mega-Phase 12 Full Review and Coverage of its Features. Eurorack Modular Analogue Multi-Tap Phaser Module for Eurorack Modular synth

(HEADPHONES recommended) I spent some time with the Mega Phase 12 to test its features, create a few sounds, process synth patches and some beats.

This is a unique eurorack module, the latest AJH Synth eurorack module which takes the analogue multi stage phaser to a new level with 12 Stages you can tap from and separate access to Resonance, see video to learn more about it. This AJH Synth Mega-Phase 12 also has CV control over key parameters.

"This is the third generation of Intellijel’s much loved Korgasmatron filter designed in collaboration with David G. Dixon.

The Morgasmatron features two completely independent six-mode filters (labeled “A” and “B”) — each with its own mode-select knob, input, output, cutoff, resonance, Q-drive and gain control. Each filter has a pair of CV inputs (one with a built-in attenuator and the other with a built-in attenuverter) for modulating cutoff, and another CV input for modulating resonance. Both filters self-oscillate at maximum Q, and produce pitched sine waves that track the two separate 1V/OCT inputs.

You can use the two filters independently of one another, or you can use them together (in either a series or parallel connection) and smoothly crossfade between them using either the XFADE knob or the XFADE CV input and built-in attenuverter. You can flip the DRY switches to instantly bypass either or both filters; invert the phase of Filter B; or overdrive Filter A by switching on the new Overdrive circuit. A MIX output provides (as you might suspect) a mixed output of the two filters.

Behringer: Exploring the Model D

"Join us as we ascend into the world of analog synthesis, featuring the Model D and Gianni “Synthguru” Grisanzio. Gianni has a very large collection of classic analog synths, so playing our Model D is very familiar territory for him. Please feel free to post questions/comments during the broadcast and also let us know where you’re tuning in from."

VERMONA Releases randomRHYTHM Randomized Trigger Sequencer / Clock Divider Eurorack module

"VERMONA releases remarkable randomRHYTHM randomized trigger sequencer / clock divider Eurorack module

VOGTLAND, GERMANY: electronic sound tools creator VERMONA is proud to announce availability of the randomRHYTHM randomized trigger sequencer / clock divider — duly representing the company’s latest Eurorack entry to the small-format modular system world as a remarkable random-based dual-channel trigger sequencer with four sliders per rhythm section with which to set the probability of quarters, eighths, sixteenths and triplets making an appearance to form sequences — as of February 8…

Unlike traditional step sequencers, VERMONA’s just-released randomRHYTHM randomized trigger sequencer / clock divider does not allow its users to set steps manually — or tap in a rhythm, for that matter, but rather work with four fanciful LED-lit sliders labelled 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, and 1/3 to set the probability of quarters, eighths, sixteenths and triplets making an appearance to form sequences in its two rhythm sections. Each rhythm section works in realtime or DICE mode, meaning that the module is either continuously generating new random values for each note value in realtime, whereas in DICE mode it generates them for a complete 3/4 or 4/4 bar. But in both modes the sliders still influence the resulting sequence — even if a bar has been ‘diced’, so-to-speak.

Midnight Drive 2 | Roland JX-8P Juno 6 Emax Akai S1000 Korg DW8000

"A sequel/follow-up to my popular track Midnight Drive.

I wanted to make the sequel a little faster and add a little more "oompf" to the bottom end. Without being TOO modern of course... can't have that! :P

The bass is the Juno 6 (sampled into the Roland S-10 sampler for sequencer playback) and all pads/strings is off the 8P

Piano is the Emax and the drums are the Akai S1000. Arpeggio ++ KOrg DW-8000. Some additional drums from Yamaha RX11 and Roland TR-626.
Novation MiniNova plays some hits as well.

There's even some Nord Lead A1 in there although you don't see it in the video.
The Nord Lead A1 provides all wind/noise effects.

Reverbs are Strymons Bluesky. Delay is TC Flashback.

The patches for the JX-8P/PG-8X can be downloaded here:
https://thepatchbay.co.uk/products/?d...

The track is conceived on the Roland MC50 sequencer, my old school MIDI setup, but ultimately multitracked in my DAW for better control at the mixing stage.

My tracks pay homage to all synth-pop acts of the 80'ies like Howard Jones, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Thompson Twins, Tears for Fears, Ultravox, OMD, Euryhmics, Duran Duran, Giorgio Moroder, Jean Michel Jarre, Jan Hammer, Alphaville, A-ha and many more.

A use mostly old gear in my music and among them Roland Juno 6, Alpha Juno 2, D550 and JX-8P.
Korg DW-8000, Elka EK22, Yamaha DX7 and TX802 and drum machines Yamaha RX11 and Roland TR-626.

Effects are usually handled by Strymon and TC electronics.

Sampling is done on my E-MU ESI-4000, Akai S1000, Roland S-10, Emax 1, 2, Yamaha A3000."
