"New modules coming to my euro rack soon. The Softpop sequenced/played by Rene gets to play a few solo notes and some low low uncontrolled bass."

OB6 does: Soft Brass

Published on Jul 1, 2018 Kris Lennox

"I sat down earlier with every intention of recording some of Bach's Goldberg Variations, but I got carried away in making a brass sound :) The idea here was to give a sense of very soft, high-register french horns. Good sound for in a mix.

The initial 20 seconds will sound more convincing than the rest: most brass writing is two-part harmony. At about the 20-sec mark I develop into 3-part harmony; ergo the sound won't be 'convincing'. The tone is ok - it's just the texture that isn't exact. But this is ok, I was just going for a walk with it. Obvious at the end i.e. too high for French horns.

Howard Hanson popped into my head as I'm planning on recording one of his works soon. The progression you hear at the c.21-sec mark is from his 2nd Symphony - one that most came to know through the film 'Alien' - as this is what plays at the end credits. Here is a link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sS1kg...

The same progression can also be heard in the Orphan soundtrack. If you listen to the following link, you'll hear it at the beginning. Different key, but same progression. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XHER...

All best
Kris"

Mario on OB-6

Published on Jul 2, 2018 Kris Lennox

"Yes. Playing Mario on an OB-6 is probably slightly absurd. It could be equated to the likes of buying a Fazioli for practising Elton John songs.

Well, maybe not quite as absurd as Elton John. But you get my point.

Good fun, this one. Good for staccato practice. PS the piece is the Underworld Theme."

Digitone Controller for Ableton Live

Digitone Controller from Pauk on Vimeo.

Digitone Controller is a midi max for live device to control the Elektron Digitone.

The UI is divided in the main sections of the hardware, two parts of SYNTH, the Filters, the Amplification and the 2 LFOs

There is a Preset storage section where you can save up to 45 presets within the Live project.

And finally there is a Randomize section where you can define where the randomization affect by sections: SYN, FLTR, AMP & LFO

You can use up to 4 devices, one per voice. Be sure to put the device in a MIDI channel and configure the MIDI Output to route the desired Elektron voice.

The device is ready to be updated as well with the hardware control changes so you can finetune the preset from the hardware and these changes will be reflected on the patch.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you find any problem or if you have an idea to update the device :)"

Robaux - SWT16 (16 output trigger/gate feature packed sequencer)

Published on Jul 2, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Here's the new SWT16 (it stands for sweet 16 btw) from Robaux, which is a feature packed 16 output trigger and gate sequencer for the Eurorack modular synth format. It had a classic 16 step mode that will be very familiar to many of you that have used sequencers and controllers before, there's also options to create polymetric patterns where the 16 channels have different step lengths which can be anywhere from 1 to 64 steps. This works by creating up to 8 banks with up to 8 steps in each bank. As polymetric patterns can get a bit chaotic sometimes and hard to keep in check there's a internal pattern reset so if you want patterns of 12 over 5, over 9 but you want to reset on step 21 you can do. There's an internal clock divider for each track to divide down the master clock (which can be the internal auto clock or external clock input with reset) for your patterns. There's also a tap record mode, random mode (to fill a pattern randomly which you can keep doing or edit) and also a great performance mode that brings many features to the front interface. There's also a mute mode, fill mode (which fills the pad/channel you press with every clock pulse), invert mode to totally invert your patterns ... there's LOTS to go at. So here's a video manual style video that walks through the majority of features but check the link below to see the website and manual, which is short, simple and graphical in showing everything. You can actually play around with a web based version of the module clicking the buttons and seeing what the different modes are.
