Going Deeper in Modular with the Waldorf KB37

Published on Nov 18, 2018 ProckGnosis

"Just some playing around, discussing, and reflecting on what I'm liking about modular synths in general and in the context of the Waldorf KB37.

What I love?
- Lets you get massively creative
- Lets you do things you can't do so easily with a self-contained, stand-alone synth
- It's all hands-on! No menu diving!
- Helps you really think about and learn how patches are constructed

Slight negatives
- It's sometimes not as immediately satisfying as a self-contained, stand-alone synth (due to "setting things up" just to get sound)
- The cables of all the modules can get in the way of uninhibited knob twisting, slider sliding, and switch flipping
- Not so easy to get back to that amazing patch you created last week

Side note: the intro tune was recorded with only the KB37 and the modules seen in the video, plus some Reason Kong drums."

"Here for sale we have a VERY rare limited edition Moog Model 15 reissue modular synth with matching Duophonic keyboard controller. Made in 2015. All original cables and accessories are included. Notice the exact replica hardcover manual! So cool! The original box is included as well.

This piece was the 21st unit of 150 total made by Moog. I am the first owner and this unit with the controller was $11,000 new and took over a year to receive it from date of deposit. This piece was purchased as an investment and used only a few times in a smoke free home.

It is in perfect Mint condition exactly as it came from the Moog factory! Finances are forcing me to sell it - not only is this a world class synth and sound design tool it will no doubt appreciate greatly with time!"

"Original vintage ARP Solus & Avatar synth monster!!! 4 VCOs, 4 filters, 2 LFOs, 4 envelopes, ring mod, sample & hold, 3 noise generators, you can filter the audio of either unit back through the filters of the other, or use as the input for the ring modulator, or trigger something, or smash something, or god knows what. With all of the routing & modulation possibilities of a semi modular 2600, (plus stereo master outputs. My fave is battling the oscillator synch with detuned oscillators on the other board. You will get lost in the nerd. If you have an hexaphonic arp guitar synth pickup, well...."

"Please checkout video to get a better idea of this synthesizer

The VCF is bleeding through in the background when it's turned on at the fader section. Might just be aging parts or don’t worry about its very low in volume once your playing.

One LED is out to tell you “ALL” is on instead of Lower” or 'Upper'

Click on additional info to see / hear recent video of it in action 10/7/18

Due to this being almost 50 years old and being very rare this is a 'AS IS' sale"

Orchestral Colours - Kria MIDI for Norns, Spitfire Tundra, Diva and Roli Noise & Seaboard

Published on Nov 18, 2018 junklight

"I've just finished porting Monome Kria from the eurorack module onto the Norns platform so it can drive MIDI (& other Norns things). This is such a deep and powerful sequencer and I'm quite excited about exploring it outside of Eurorack - written by Tehn from Monome it provides 4 separate tracks - every part of it has its own clock divider and length , there is also an alternate note page and an octave. Each track can produce quite incredibly complex sequences and with 4 going together you can make an a lot of music!

Here I have three channels of Kria driving some instruments from the wonderful Spitfire Tundra, and the 4th channel driving Diva. I'm also playing Noise SWAM clarinet from the seaboard (which you will note irritatingly loses it's connection at one point) . It's all recorded into Ableton but that's just hosting the instruments - no sequencing going from that side at all.

I'm going to be submitting the PR in the next day or two so any Norns users will have access to this fantastic sequencer"

RSF Polykobol II story & synthesizer demo records 1983

Published on Nov 17, 2018 AnalogSynthMuseum

"Ruben and Serge Fernandez are originating in Tarbes in the south-west of France;in 1972 whereas they start to arrange small modules of sound traffics, they discover the world of the synthetizers thanks to Moog and decide to create their characteristic synthé. In September 1975 they settle in Toulouse to finish their studies, a licence in data processing (Cobol language) for Ruben and a IUT of electric genius for Serge. They first of all build modules to measures at the request of buddies Toulousains musicians.Modular Series 11 are born in 1976.

At the end of 1982 RSF SA is in liquidation and the Company ARIA in Aston in Ariège directed by Mr. Baumesnil repurchases RSF for 100.000 Francs with stock, half of the personnel, a prototype of limps at rate/rhythm the DD10, Ruben Fernandez becomes technical director then and preserves the design of the products. The motivation of ARIA is to diversify its activities and thus wishes that department RSF be very quickly profitable.First Polykobol 2 are finally delivered to the summer 1983 after more than one year of waiting for certain customers who had ordered and paid in advance. The polysequencor and the dynamic keyboard do not walk and the instability of the machine is catastrophic, in spite of a fabulous sound it is a total failure moreover the price of 60.000 Francs the reserve with an elite, Yamaha leaves at the same time the DX7 for 15.000 francs, the numerical revolution starts, exit the analogical monsters.

RSF is now a mark of legend, these instruments are from now on very required for their great sound qualities and the scarcity made climb the prices on the second-hand market.Glory is like often posthumous!"
