Dtronics - Production of the final batch DT7 Programmers

Published on Jan 23, 2019 Dtronicsmusic

Dtronics DT7

"We started the final run of the limited edition DT7 programmer.
It can be used with the Yamaha DX-7 ( DX-1 DX-5 TX-802 TX-816)

The DT7 programmer is produced on our prototype line..

In the early 80's the Japanese engineers invented the digital synthesizer, known as the DX-7 the first portable FM digital synthesizer hit the market.

It was a great success followed, making it in practically every top 10 hit in the 80's and 90's.

The beast never got tamed, as the learning curve to operate it was so steep, people started using presets, and barely touched it's vast array of parameters.

At DTronics we have brought many MIDI solutions and even brought new life to the Roland JX-3 and Alpha Juno series through our dedicated programmers the DT-200 and DT-300.

Being one of the most powerful synths in the world we believe that a DX-7 programmer to explore the powerful array of parameters is a worthy addition to our product line.

DTronics presents:
The DT7 programmer for the DX-series synthesizers. The DTronics DT7 Programmer uses the same type architecture used in our DT-200 and DT-300 series, but on a massive scale!

Key features:
- The DT7 runs it's own software within it's own processors
- Firmware updates over MIDI
- Supporting different types DX-series
- Provides a knob for every parameter, no layers, no fuss!
- Easily adjust envelopes of the appropriate operator's Envelope generators, pitch settings, scaling...!"

Almost skipped this one as it's not exactly directly synth related, but it is Clavia, and it is the first NAMM 2019 video from Sonic State. So it begins...

Sequential Debuts Eight New 8Dio Sample Packs for Prophet X at NAMM

"Anaheim, CA—Jan 23, 2019— At this year’s NAMM convention, Sequential will debut eight new add-on packs from sound developer 8Dio for their flagship samples-plus-synthesis keyboard, the Prophet X. The sample packs are focused largely on vintage synthesizers and include the Minimoog Model D, Sequential Circuits T8, Oberheim OBX, ARP 2600, Juno 60, Jupiter 6, Moog Prodigy, as well as a new deep-sampled piano.

The Prophet X has garnered critical acclaim for its sonic versatility and sound design capabilities through its substantial internal library of 150 GB of sample content as well as its ability to import up to 50 GB of additional user samples and add-on content from sound developers.

All sample content can be manipulated by the Prophet X sound engine, which powers two simultaneous sample-based instruments plus two high-resolution digital oscillators, with a full complement of traditional synthesis tools, all processed through analog filters. Dual digital effects and a 64-step polyphonic sequencer round out the package. In standard performance mode, the instrument provides bi-timbral, 8-voice stereo, or 16-voice mono operation. 32-voice performance mode, allows paraphonic filter operation when using a single sampled instrument and oscillator.

'I’m excited to introduce these new Prophet X add-ons from 8dio at NAMM,” commented Dave Smith. They add an interesting vintage slant to a very modern synth. To have these classic instruments available to perform with or to manipulate with the Prophet X synthesis engine makes an already-powerful musical tool even more versatile. '

Dave will be representing Sequential at the NAMM show at Meeting Room TKAB.

The add-ons packs will be available for download from 8Dio’s website at a date to be determined after the show.

Disclamer: All musical instrument manufacturer and product names used in add-on packs by 8Dio are trademarks of their respective owners, which are in no way associated or affiliated with 8Dio or Sequential LLC."

Building a patch on the Prophet-12 (No Talking)

Published on Jan 22, 2019 MR TUNA Music

"It's a brand new episode of PATCH FROM SCRATCH™!
I tried to make my awesome Holo-Display™work, but my stupid arms kept getting in the way, so experience a much more practical (and legible!) display in the lower corner, totally un-skewed by my desire to make things marvelous and awe-inspiring.

AAAaaaannyways. Follow along as we make up a patch (from scratch™) on the cool-ass Prophet-12. We'll do things like: twist knobs, play keys, affect values, effect filters, turn on arpeggiators, and so on and so forth.

Actually all the really cool stuff happened after I turned off the camera... go figure!"

Casio VL-1 (1979) / Ambient - Drone Version

Published on Jan 10, 2019 Fahmi M.

"Ambient / drone sound experiment used only Casio VL-1 (1979, first commercial digital synthesizer) as sound source.
.
The VL-1 was the first instrument of Casio's VL-Tone product line, and is sometimes referred to as the VL-Tone. It combined a calculator, a monophonic synthesizer, and sequencer."

You might be wondering how he got the VL-1 to sound like this. The answer is reverb & "PaulStretch", and "extreme sound stretching algorithm" from Paul Nasca aka Nasca Octavian.

"This algorithm is designed to stretch the sound by a very large amount while preserving the subjective quality. For example using this algorithm it is possible to stretch 5 minutes of sound to 1 hour. The best results are on orchestral/choir audio inputs."
