The Mojave Desert Modular Experiment: Patrick Shiroishi

Published on Jul 15, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"In the Mojave Desert Modular Experiment, we worked with local artists to create modular systems suited to their own styles and workflows...despite the fact that none of them had ever used modular synths before. Each artist/group had two weeks to get to know their system and prepare a performance.

Experimental saxophonist Patrick Shiroishi is no stranger to peculiar sounds: his own free improvisations feature unbridled woodwind tones, often augmented with the use of effects pedals. Patrick's modular system, centered around a Make Noise Morphagene, was built to sample and mangle sax signals while acting as a semi-autonomous improvisational partner, co-creating webs of wild noise in response to his playing.

Come by our showroom to try out these systems for yourself, and keep an eye out for more results from the experiment each Monday this month! Read more about Patrick's system and get links to his music here: https://www.perfectcircuit.com/signal..."

Erica Synths Black Octasource - VCV Rack Tutorial

Published on Jul 15, 2019 Omri Cohen

"A couple of weeks ago, a few of the modules from Erica Synths joined the VCV collection, and one of them is the Black Octasource, a very unique LFO with multiple phase outputs, different waveshapes, and other beautiful features. In this video, I go through all of its features and build a couple of patches utilizing them.

"Korg Poly 61M Analog Polyphonic Synthesizer 1983. Very rare synth with a 120v plug for American outlets!! In very good cosmetic condition. The few flaws that it does have are pictured. The buttons “2” and “3” double trigger sometimes but are usable, it’s normal for this to happen as this synth turns 36 this year. Also the headphone jack is loose but is still useable. Everything else is in perfect condition."

"The Tauntek 2.15 custom OS offers almost too many improvements to list here. I highly recommend checking out a Tauntek’s web page on Matrix 6 Firmware. Not only is his new OS vastly more responsive to MIDI commands, it adds several new features and brings the MIDI compatibility to modern standards. A donation from your purchase price goes to Tauntek for the recognition of his hard work"

Modor eurorack-Noisy Oscillator & Comb Filter demo

Published on Jul 15, 2019 Dziam Bass

"This video shows sound from the Noisy Oscillator and Comb filter from Modor modules eurorack.

A little added noise from the oscillator from the second voice as you see the knob mix and also subtle filtering from Comb Filter to get a partial flanger effect without too much modulation.

later we got a little more effect with Fb-feedback regulation and a larger delay type, ie a stronger effect on the longer time generated by Comb filter.

Noisy Oscillator module is and oscillator that mixes two signals: a 'regular' wave (sawtooth/square/triangle) and a 'tonal noisy' wave. This adds a special noisy layer over the sound, that adds 'air', grit or dirt, depending on the combinations you make. The MOD parameter acts on the noisy waveforms:
