A Guy Called Gerald synthfest 2019

"Living legend, Gerald Simpson, AKA A Guy Called Gerald, takes us through his live set up and discuses the state of today’s 'live' DJ performances.

I recently watched Gerald perform a full 4 hour set in Manchester, so to see him break down how the magic happens, was a real privilege."

2019/10 - Pearl SC-40 ... 512 sounds

Published on Oct 6, 2019 Stereoping

"A quick run through all the 256 sounds of my Pearl SC-40. I used the trigger inputs instead of midi because the midi-triggernote is saved in each sound (!) and they are completely different throughout the kits.
Then i loaded the 4 factory preset banks and recorded these 4 banks containing another 256 sounds. Short break between the bank-switching for not missing a sound.

Between the 2 recordings there is a part showing how to load the audiofile through the Cassette input: start the audio, then press ENTRY on the CASSETTE/LOAD page. Pressing ENTRY before the audio is started will result in "Error 10 - level to low" (display shows: E-10) interrupting the LOAD procedure."

Yamaha Portasound PS-1 keyboard demo - "Lens Flare"

Published on Oct 6, 2019 Alfonse

"Yamaha Portasound PS-1 keyboard (1980)

All sounds you hear in the track were made using the PS-1 and run through various single effects pedals (TC Electronic Sub Up octaver for bass notes and for a floaty lead part, the very synth-friendly Yamaha SDS CH-10MII chorus pedal, and the Vestax DDX vintage digital delay). Parts were recorded to a DAW, where compression, EQ, and reverb were added as required. Individual drum hits were sampled from slowed-down rhythms and processed to allow fresh beats to be built, rather than using the rhythms found on the PS-1 itself.

The aim of these videos is to see what you can create using sounds from retro classic keyboards together with current production tools. One of the first three portable keyboards that Yamaha produced for the home market in 1980, the PS-1 was the most compact, with only 4 voices and 4 rhythms to work with.

Klangbau Köln Eurorack - Sunday Ambient Noise Jam #TTNM

Published on Oct 6, 2019 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Patching my new cables from Luigi's Modular Supply into my Klangbau Köln Eurorack. MORE INFO BELOW :)

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

While it has been a while since I patched my Klangbau Köln Eurorack synthesizer, I always enjoy playing some ambient drone/noise music with it. In this jam I'm triggering a sample played on Tom Whitwell's Radio Music through the Twin Peak Filter, while Rob Hordijk's Benjolin is making some liquid filter ping sounds as well, while also providing a modulated master clock and Rungler CV. The Wavetable DCO, the XR-VCO and the qVCF are acting as oscillators, going through a Ring Mod, Waveshaper and Tube VCA. There's a bunch of modulation coming from the Envelope, the Joystick, the Closed-Loop Sample & Hold and the digital and analog Logisitc Equation modules."

"The Korg SB-100 Synthe-Bass, released in 1975, is a Japanese-made analog monophonic synthesizer that offers fat, warm vintage synth tones that evoke the sounds that defined a generation of electronic music. It has been used by artists such as the B-52s, Soft Cell, and more. The SB-100 has one analog oscillator (Pulse, Saw Up, Square, Triangle) with controls for an attack/decay envelope and a low-pass filter. As expected from a “Synthe-Bass”, the SB-100 is known in particular for its ultra-fat and punchy bass tones. The comparatively small form factor allows this synthesizer to travel well, and its simple, tactile control panel will serve you well in live performance situations. If you're looking for the real deal when it comes to iconic 70s analog synth sounds, look no further!

This synth is in very good condition, showing some natural signs of age, including minor scuffs and some coloration of the keys from aging (please see photos). It has been tested by our professional technician and is working perfectly. The sound is exceptional."
