Modal Electronics 008 Part 1

Published on Nov 23, 2019 synthlegends

"Demo of some custom patches from the Modal Electronics 008 analog synthesizer.

I didn't use any FX, mastering, compression, it is just recorded directly to the audio interface.

This synthesizer was announced 2015 and is quite underestimated, maybe because of very few reviews, many software bugs in the beginning and a high price tag. Nevertheless this synth is capable of a huge array of sounds thanks of two oscillators with two suboscilators and noise, 15 filter types, two LFO, two envelopes, but one of them you can also use like a modulation source, lots of modulation possibilities (i.e. animator), filter drive, FM and much more. The sound can be very warm and lush, but also fizzy and sometimes cold. Meanwhile with the latest OS the synth ist "gown up" with interesting new features and removing of bugs.

I love this synth almost as much my Modal 002. They are two very different beasts but have the same genes.

Thanks for watching again. Cheers"

Overlooked Module #5: WMD Pro Output

Published on Nov 23, 2019 poorness studios

"A lot of folks ignore output modules but I think this one is brilliant. It can take a modular level signal and instantly drop it to commercial line leve (-10db), professional line level (+4db), and headphone level all at once."

Hawkeye - Looped Happiness (midiphy LoopA launch demo)

Published on Nov 23, 2019 Hawkeye

"With the launch of the midiphy LoopA just around the corner and just in time for the upcoming holiday season, here is another quick demo video - it is not focussed on musical finesse :), but on some of the new features integrated in the launch software version of the LoopA.

In the beginning of the track, the LoopA is launched with "Beatloop" mode active, a new non-linear time progression model, which has different modes. Some modes scan the sequence while retaining an identical sequence playback time. It is great to create new melodic progressions while retaining harmonies and is also interesting for scrambling up recorded drumloops.

Later on, we explore some 'live transposition' features, where multiple selectable tracks (e.g. to exclude drum tracks) are transposed via a single live encoder action. Live transposition is measure-synchronized to occur "always just in time".

Also, scene progression is fully synchronized to the recorded loops, so you can confidently proceed to a new scene at any time in your performance.

The midiphy LoopA is inteded to be used as a "musical note pad" or an "idea generator", it has been designed to be easy to use and has different features than its bigger 16-track brother, the midiphy SEQ v4+. Depending on your musical style, it should normally be easily able to hold a whole song in a session, which contains up to 36 looped note clips (these are arranged in 6 tracks x 6 scenes). Sessions are fully storable and recallable on/from a removable SD card within seconds.

We have released the user manual, you can preview it over here:
https://www.midiphy.com/files/468/mid...

You can obtain a fully documented DIY kit of the midiphy LoopA here (or subscribe to it becoming available, it should be available soon):

Hope you enjoyed the demo - and thanks for watching and listening!
Best regards and many greets,
Peter / Hawkeye"

"Future Retro Mobius sequencer. Excellent condition. Rare. Only 600 of these were made.

This is an awesome one-track sequencer which is great for writing patterns and generating new ideas. Also functions as a MIDI to CV converter, MIDI to DIN Sync converter, and MIDI to Analog Clock converter with Reset. You can synchronize the Mobius via MIDI to an external clock or have it act as a master device sending MIDI Clock, DIN Sync, and Analog Clock signals to external sequencers, plus send and receive MIDI note data and Velocity. Patch accent to control multiple target parameters on modular synths. The Mobius also supports SysEx dumping of patterns and songs.

Great for acid style basslines for analog synths. Many options for creating TB-303 style sequencing.
Glide, Accent, Master Clock. Great to connect to modular synths and the rest of your gear.

With separate outs for V/OCT and Hz/V, you can use it with most any analog synth, including Roland, Moog, Sequential Circuits, Oberheim, ARP and the Eurorack standard along with Hz/V synths like the Korg MS-20 and Yamaha CS-15."
