Self Synthesizing

Published on Mar 21, 2020 George Benton

"Playing around with the sequencer to make a pattern with rests instead of straight 8th notes. Ended up making an 8-step + 8-step with different filter/envelope settings on each group using an electronic switch.
Of course, one thing leads to another... :)"

Published on Mar 21, 2020 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"I received my Gotharman’s Little Deformer 3 and had a little deformed jam =)

The Little Deformer 3 is a Danish groovebox, sampler, synth, effects box, granular processor, analog multi-filter, coffee maker, audio recorder, MIDI & CV and performance sequencer ... and much more, I guess. I’m just scratching the surface here and look forward to dive into it.

Introducing Elmyra - a DIY drone synthesizer by Neutral Labs

Published on Mar 21, 2020 nyppy

"This is just a quick demo of my Elmyra prototype. You can easily build this synth yourself. I will share the schematics, PCB and code in a few days. A video detailing all the features is also coming up. Just watch this space or drop me a message.

This is obviously inspired by the Soma Lyra-8, which I love, but it's not a clone at all.

Reverb provided by Eventide Space. Next video will have the dry sound as well. The Elmyra delay can get pretty reverb-y on its own.

Note this is the first post to feature Neutral Labs.

TTMC 158 drone and Easel melody

Published on Mar 21, 2020 Todd Barton

"I'm still learning this Tokyo Tape Music Center prototype Dual Sine-Saw Generator 158. Here it is providing the rich, spacious drone while the Buchla Music Easel's Complex oscillator explores the melodic landscape."

Korg NTS-1, Triangular Arpeggiator Jam

Published on Mar 21, 2020 Waveformer

"Here's a simple jam featuring only the Korg NTS-1 synthesizer, using its surprisingly powerful arpeggiator.

My music on Bandcamp: http://waveformer42.bandcamp.com/

There's no way to share NTS-1 patches yet, and not easy to read parameters settings, so this is the patch as far as I can remember. Oscillator type Triangle, Sweep rate 0.1. Filter type LP4, Resonance 0%, Rate 9Hz, Depth 50%. Modulator type Flanger, Time 25%. Depth 40%. Reverb type: Submarine, Time max, Depth 60%, Dry: 65%. Tremolo rate 0.2Hz, Tremolo depth 20%. Arpeggiator type d-C, Tempo 69 BPM, Pattern length 19, pattern type varies throughout the jam.

During the jam, I play with filter cutoff, oscillator shape modulation, and switch the arpeggiator between octave, sus4, minor and minor diminished.

The audio is recorded on a Korg KP2S and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on iPhoneX. Audio and video is synchronized in DaVinci Resolve 15.

Gear:
- Korg NTS-1
- Korg Mini Kaoss Pad 2S (for recording)

Connections:
- NTS-1 - KP2S (for recording)

Misc:
- NTS-1 effects: Delay: Ping-Pong, delay time max, depth 60%, dry 25%, Reverb: Submarine, time max, depth 60%, dry 65%
- Tempo: 69 BPM
- Key: Cm"

MIDIMINI V30 Oscillator Demo

Published on Mar 21, 2020 StudioElectronics

"This demo is an attempt to capture the raw power and fatness of the Studio Electronics Midimini V30- High quality monitors or headphones are recommended. We do recommend hearing it 'in person' if at all possible. However if you can not, and are curious to know what the raw oscillators sound like- This video is for you Starting with a single oscillator, various filter and resonance settings, and envelope settings. As the video progresses the sounds get a little more complex and wild."

Midimini V30: Monosynth Polysynth #2

Published on Mar 21, 2020 StudioElectronics

"A Bass Odyssey was planned (and promised) yet a more salient inspiration was followed. And it was/is good. Built on the same shell of our mid-80s ST. REGIS tune, “You Lover Lost,” this vid features a near punishingly poppin’ bass response to the initial backstage band effect, and then drifts purposefully into organy, multi-tracked lead slides; a dreamy Fm gathering of heavenly, ethereal eternals focus and fire a Quadnic-like pulse, after that haunting “Sound in my Head” patch made the way straight for its duality. Earthy Taurus-like pedal vibrations praise and present reprise tonalities, and wise culminating paraphonic conversations. Revelations ensue.

OK, THAT was fun. In short, the MIDIMINI V30 makes sounds you like—well beyond the typical; the patchpoints, gain-staging, ringmod, triangle wave #1 wrapped around the filter, crossmod, and Boomstar LFO see to that. 🎧 or better per favore.

Erica Synths DB-01 Pros and Cons // Almost Perfect..

"The first 500 people to use this link get 2 months free of Skillshare Premium: https://skl.sh/rickytinez4
I originally thought the Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline would fall in line with other similar tb-303 clones. But i was way wrong. It reminds me more of an Roland SH-101!! With 303 tendencies. It doesn't just stop there either with features. Some of my favorites are the Analog BBD Delay turned into a detune knob, As well as the Polivoks Analog Filter."
