This Is A Test: Dope Box prototype - crazy beat synthesizer thing

video upload by Mountainking Electronics

"This is the prototype for the Dope Box. It is designed around an obsolete ic that contains 15 different lo fi drum beats samples. The Dope Box contains a preamp that can be driven into distortion and a active LPF. It has rate controls to allow you to slow it down til all you hear is strange, stretched out digital bits or speed it up til it sounds like a skipping compact disc. In the right hands it has limitless creative possibilities.

I hope, at some point, to officially release the Dope Box but if and when I do it will be ultra limited edition as I only have 7 of the ics that the Dope Box is designed around. I am selling this prototype if anyone is interested. Please email me if you are interested in purchasing this prototype. [ at https://www.mountainkingelectronics.com]

Thank you,
Alan"

230101 - Jamuary 2023 - Lofi-12 & Volca Beats

video upload by ChrisLody

"Happy new year everyone. It's January again and that means it's also Jamuary. Will I be able to jam every day this year? Absolutely not. Every other day then? Probably not even that to be honest. I'll be straight back into being super busy as soon as my holiday is over so i'll just have to use whatever time I can squeeze these jams into.

So here's something I put together while chilling in the studio today. It was originally intended to be a synth exploration of 4 part harmony as the Lofi-12 has 4 tracks but I got a bit distracted and ended up here.

Nothing too fancy tech wise. The Beats is sync'd to the Lofi-12 via the sync sockets and the audio output is running through the Lofi-12 so I can add its reverb to the drums. All the sounds on the Lofi-12 have been made using my recent waveform banks for the Lofi-12."

Matriarch and Melodicer

video upload by Tim Shoebridge

"Here is a brief 'typing-no-talking' demonstration of the Vermona Melodicer being used in conjunction with the Moog Matriarch and a collection of Behringer 2500 modules.

The Melodicer is really the star of the show in this video, admittedly it is an expensive module but if you are patient they do come up on the used market for good prices, that's how I bought mine.

And the Matriarch? Even though it's Moog and it sells for a lot of money it is IMHO the Bargain of the Century: Four wonderful sounding VCO's, two beautiful sounding analogue low pass transistor ladder filters in stereo configuration, two gorgeous sounding analogue bucket brigade delays in stereo configuration, and more modular patch points than you can shake a stick at. What's not to like?!"

How to make a Miami Vice inspired high speed, arpeggiated synth bass driven track

video upload by Espen Kraft

"Using the Roland Jupiter-8 to create a Jan Hammer, Miami Vice-inspired bass driven arpeggio part for my album Dreams. By layering a percussive part, with a slow attack string sound, it creates texture the momentum. All sounds in the track comes from the Jupiter-8 classic analog synth.

Album is out on all streaming platforms and Bandcamp.

An instrumental track from Daft Punk’s Discovery.

all synthesizer sounds: Roland Juno-106 Analog Synthesizer (1984)
drums: Roland TR-808 (1982)
recording: multi-track

The Roland Juno-106 Synthesizer from the year 1984 is a great analog synth with the typical 80s Roland sound. Often in the shadow of the brother JU-60 but the sound is different. Here can you find the full Juno-106 playlist with single sound demos and one synth demo tracks. Enjoy.
