"This is the app we've all been waiting 40 years for! With this librarian you can avoid the hassles of trying to get Tape Load/Save working on the finicky 909, and still backup, restore and move banks around on your 909 over MIDI!"

Oberheim Begins Shipping OB-X8 Analog Synth Desktop Module

Follow-up to this post. Larger pics & the official press release follows:

San Francisco, CA – June 9, 2023 – Oberheim is now shipping the OB-X8 desktop module. For the first time ever, all the sonic power of the Oberheim OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8 has been condensed into a footprint that is compact enough for studios of any size, and convenient enough to take out on the road.

Following the extraordinarily successful release of the award-winning OB-X8 keyboard in 2022, the desktop module version boasts an identical sound engine, featuring an all-analog signal path with discrete VCOs, VCAs, and filters. The top panel maintains the knob-per-function sound designing experience, with immediate access to virtually all the synth’s parameters, allowing easy and precise creation of unique sounds.

Although the paddles and keybed are missing from the module version, the Arpeggiator and Keyboard Split & Double functionality are maintained, so the OB-X8 desktop is ready to go when connected to your favorite controller.

“The OB-X8 desktop module provides a great opportunity for musicians with limited studio space to get into the classic Oberheim sound, heard on so many hit records over the past 45 years”, said Taiho Yamada, Head of Marketing for Oberheim. “And the combination of synthesis features from the original OB-series synths means that new sounds can be created that were not possible until now.”

Oberheim is a legendary American synthesizer company that has created instant-classic instruments, from the iconic SEM to the modern OB-X8. Founded in 1969 by Tom Oberheim, the company earned the respect of the world for producing innovative synthesizers with unparalleled sonic richness and character. Today, Oberheim brings its products to market with the help of the Focusrite organization and renowned synth maker, Sequential.

The OB-X8 eight-voice analog synthesizer desktop module is available now with a US MAP price of $3,499. For more details visit www.oberheim.com.

"East german string machine from late 70s / early 80s. The instrument has 3 string sounds, 3 keyboard sounds and an embedded Bucket Brigade Device triple chorus with different presets to accomodate for a variety of tones. Instrument was serviced and is in fully working condition. It comes with its original sheet holder and volume pedal (not on pictures). Condition is quite good with only minor wear."

"So I've only just bought the Make Noise 0-Coast Semi-modular synth. I'm loving the sounds you can get out of this seemingly simple box. It really is a thing of inspiration....

No DAW used other than to record in one take and to put a bit of reverb and delay on the 0-Coast."

5 Things you can create with the Yester Versio simple three-tap delay module

"We're featuring 5 things the Yester Versio simple three-tap delay module can do, and if you find this helpful, let us know in the comments!

More about Yester Versio: https://bit.ly/3kMQpjK

Yester Versio is the long-awaited answer to the request for a simple delay on the Versio platform. Yester Versio is a three-tap stereo delay designed to be straightforward and easy to control. It’s perfect to help glue together almost any patch, with just enough character to stand out if that’s what you want.

Yester Versio is also part of the Versio DSP platform and can be transformed into a completely different effect by loading a growing number of alternate firmwares, completely free at the Customer Portal. Plus, with open-source support and documentation at LibDaisy, you can write your own firmware. Learn more about the platform at the World of Versio: https://bit.ly/3KJWzZC

Yester Versio comes with controls over panning, delay feedback, and delay time, but we didn’t stop there. The Time control interacts with the Even/Triplet/Dotted switch, allowing for flexible delay syncing. These also work with the Tap button and jack input, making it easy to sync Yester to the rest of your patch and create interesting rhythms.

Use the DJ-style filter to shape your delays. Add flavor with Chorus, a bipolar control that adds a bit of clean pitch shifting or LFO-modulated effects. Turn up Fold for some gentle saturation, then gritty wavefolding, and at the top of the knob, to add in chaotic suboctaves for a bit of doom.

And of course, because it is a Versio, almost everything can be CV controlled.

Yester Versio is the delay you will keep coming back to...back to...back to...

Magerit KAIROS - The master controller - New Release

video upload by Magerit

Not to be confused with the Arcaico Kairos.

"The purpose of KAIROS is to control and direct your Eurorack using waveforms, functions, clock signals, and MIDI-to-CV converters. Do you need a sequence of trigger signals for your drums? Done. How about automating a VCF? Of course. What if you want to do polyphony? It is also possible! Well, but it is necessary... We've got you covered; it's also possible with KAIROS. And since there are 8 independent outputs with 12-bit resolution, there is more control for your Eurorack!"

via Magerit

KAIROS, Greek god of the opportune moment, is a concept that represents a moment when circumstances are suitable for making important decisions or achieving a specific goal. In life, if we choose correctly at the right moment, we can have a positive impact and achieve our goals more effectively. Applying this idea, we present a master controller for Eurorack that allows you to adjust and control all the other modules at the right time to create a unique and coherent sound experience, giving way to creativity and experimentation: KAIROS.

Control your music

The purpose of KAIROS is to control and direct your Eurorack using waveforms, functions, clock signals, and MIDI-to-CV converters. Do you need a sequence of trigger signals for your drums? Done. How about automating a VCF? Of course. What if you want to do polyphony? It is also possible! Well, but it is necessary... We've got you covered; it's also possible with KAIROS. And since there are 8 independent outputs with 12-bit resolution, there is more control for your Eurorack!
Shapes and more shapes

Shapes and more shapes

We have designed several algorithms that allow us to generate almost any wave in a very simple way. Starting from basic shapes such as pulses, sines, triangles, clocks, Bézier curves... we can transform them by applying various modifiers: tilt, phase, delay, smoothing, quantization, offset, and many more. We have even included a crossover mode with various types of mixes.

Time to sequence!

All waves are played rhythmically. KAIROS includes an innovative hybrid step-euclidean sequencer. The best of both sequencers in one, allowing you to do really crazy things. What if we give it one more twist? In each step of the sequence you can even introduce 2, 3 or 4 microsteps, as if they were eighth notes, eighth triplet notes and sixteenth notes. Now we can make really interesting patterns. Ratios, directions... and those are not all the functions it has.

A powerful UI

What stands out the most about this module is its generous circular full-color screen with a resolution of 240x240 pixels. The module interface has been carefully developed to take advantage of the circular design of the display. In this way, the aesthetics are much more pleasant, intuitive and with everything you need at a glance. Forget about having a hundred submenus with a thousand hidden parameters.

A bit more

KAIROS is easily controlled using the two encoders and buttons, but it is also possible to add small automations to the sequencer thanks to its CV input. Designed in Alcorcón, Madrid, by David Vijuesca and José Vijuesca.
