Mirage Atmospheres - Ensoniq Mirage (Australia/Asia Pacific Version)

Published on Mar 10, 2018 100 Things I Do

"In this clip I explore some atmospheric sounds using the 'limitations' of the Sampler. Letting samples end abruptly, maxing out the filter or lowering the sample playback to the point of maxing out the 8 bit grit. In the 4 short clip examples I feature each of these.

Its been a while since I have played with the Ensoniq Mirage. I hate to say but its been on its side in the studio for the last few months! I forgot how great this box can sound :D"

"Kilpatrick Phenol is a great gateway synth into modular world. Excellent envelopes, filters, midi to CV, and clock adder/dividers leaves plenty of hours to explore and create entire compositions from. Audio inputs, heavy duty build, and bonus delay and sequencer make this a synth built to last.

Unit includes 20 Kilpatrick banana cables, factory PSU, US/international plugs, instruction manual, and original box."

"It is limited edition of only 500 ever made worldwide. It is fully functional with minimal wear to the outer shell (light scratches, marks) from normal day to day use & due to the synths age. It comes complete with synth module, original operator manual, power supply and the latest OS 2.23 already installed."

0-Coast Ambient: a dawn must break

Published on Mar 10, 2018 C Nich0lls

"Ambient synthesizer exploration made with Makenoise 0-Coast and Moog mother 32 synthesizers.

A light flickers on the horizon.

Track was recorded as a single take/performance using the Mother 32 to control the 0-Coast via CV and Gate. Strymon Timeline and BigSky pedals were used for the delay and reverb. Recorded in Ableton Live with light EQ/Compression on Master buss.

Double Note Sequence Chord Progression. Two Moog Sub 37s.

Published on Mar 10, 2018 Resonant Anvil

"Live. All settings as shown. All audio from these two Moogs. Nothing happening out of shot except some reverb. Two note per step 64 step sequence running on the lower Sub 37 very slowly, as shown. The lower drivers the upper through MIDI. The faster progression is coming from the upper Sub 37."

KORG volca keys budget ambient jam

Published on Mar 10, 2018 ollilaboratories

"If you like my stuff please support me on http://music.ollilab.com/ and https://www.patreon.com/theBURG

I wanted to make something simple and minimal using two of my favourite budget gear i have in my setup, the KORG volca keys and the Zoom MS_70 CDR effects pedal. I use these two all the time, for leads, pads and other dreamy stuff and I wanted to showcase them solo to give everyone an idea how they can sound together.

I also use a tc electronics ditto X2 looper in this setup, but you can basically use any of the loopers on the market that can handle 2 bars of recording time with overdub to achieve the same result.

Gear used: KORG volca keys, Zoom MS-70 CDR and the tc electronics X2 ditto looper pedal.

Cheers !"

Waldorf Q+ Ruby Red w/ new ALPS encoders and OLED display

Interestingly honest description:

"Here it is... the unicorn.

Let me be honest and say that the analog filters on the Q+ are just underwhelming. So if you are looking to buy a Q+ because of the analog - well you may be disappointed. The last downside to the analog filter use is... the Q+ can crash once in awhile. This is a known issue with the Q+ so if you use the analog filters make sure you save often.

Now here's the positive: This Q+ has 100 digital voices using dynamic voice allocation programming with then DSP code. So if you can do without the analog filters and stick with the digital filters - you get 100 voices to play with for your long drones and utter madness this synth can create. You've all seen the Jexus demos... A Waldorf Q synth is like sitting at the controls of some interdimensional spaceship.

Summer of 2017 I replaced ALL the rotary encoders with brand new Alps encoders. So the controls of this spaceship are luxuriously smooth with no skipping values at all. It's a 'brand new' experience. I replaced some but not all of the detent encoders because quite a few were beyond any kind of repair. Therefore there are no issues with any of the controls of this synth. A few dings but nothing on the face of the synth. Brand new yellow OLED display. This will ship in a road case and then packed in a box with foam."

"You arent likely to find another cs60 with such stable tuning, remarkably stays spot on for hours. A few cosmetic scuffs and scratches but the usual for a synth this age. The pitch ribbon has only cosmetic wear and functions 100%."

"Amazing tweakable 6 operator FM synth with step sequencer, filter, ADSR and lots more besides. Has the common data wheel issue, which skips values and is sometimes unresponsive. However, as this only controls a handful of functions it is totally possible to use the unit with this fault. I always used program change messages to select patterns for example."

"Self-contained generative system.

Disting 4(1) is in quantised ASR mode providing the shifting sequence. Disting 4(2) in dual random trigger mode providing clocks for 4(1) and the drumming.
Shuttle Control provides master clock with divisions.
Warps picks out a top line. Drone Commander does what it does. I try not to intervene."
