"I posted this video right when a huge earthquake hit Turkey and Syria so I decided to take it down and give it a rest. But I do think it's worth sharing since you can 'abuse' any module with gate/trigger outputs to contribute to rhythm patches. Ceis has triggers for every stage so it's great fun to just patch it into a drum module or sampler. Not to mention it's an ADSR so you can create all kinds of synced movement and modulation."

"We are pleased to offer blackbox 3.0.7 firmware. Version 3 is a significant step forward for sequencing, songwriting, and arrangement.

Each of the 16 sequences now have 4 layers. You can sequence and switch between all 64 layers for more advanced songwriting. You can now double a sequence. Double will double the length and content. Double allows you to write in smaller sections and extend as needed. The new Song mode can have up to 32 song scenes per preset. Song scenes can control sequences, Clips, Slicers, Granular samples, and one-shots. Scenes can be looped within a song. Songs mode now has 2 loop modes. You can loop a single scene or the entire song. You can also trigger each scene individually using MIDI notes.

MID-only sequences are now fully independent of internal Pads. MIDI routing has been redesigned. You now have more complete control over MIDI input and output. You can selectively route MIDI in, out, or thru the blackbox. You can enable or disable the USB Device port, and have total control over how clock + transport is sent and received.

Dreadbox Nymphes, Oxi One, bluebox, Zoom MS-70CDR

"My first jam with the Dreadbox Nymphes polyphonic analog synth, together with the Oxi One sequencer, the bluebox mixer/recorder and the Zoom MS-70CDR effect pedal. Jam and patch notes are included as text overlays in the video. All patches and project files are available for download with link in the video description.

The custom patch on the Nymphes uses a triangle oscillator with a dash of white noise. The velocity is set to modulate the filter envelope decay and the filter amount. And an LFO with some delay/fade in modulates pitch, creating a vibrato effect on longer notes. The LFO rate is set to key tracking, so higher notes have a faster rate.

The Nymphes has complete MIDI CC support for all parameters, and the Oxi One sequencer sends CC messages to vary the filter cutoff and the decay time for the amp and the filter envelopes on a per-step basis.

The Zoom MS70-CDR adds a bit of chorus, autopan and autopan delay, widening the stereo image from the Nymphes' mono output. For some parts of the jam, I turn on a Bass Octave effect that helps fatten the sound.

A big thank you to Dreadbox who sent me the Nymphes to play with.

The audio is recorded to SD card on a bluebox recorder/mixer and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on a Canon EOS M50 mk2 with the included EF-M 15-45mm lens. Audio and video is synchronized in DaVinci Resolve 18 (free version).

"Phantasmal Force micro MIDI controller triggering chords on the kasser arcade FM synth with the little kastle spitting out drum noise. The Phantasmal Force sent the MIDI program change message to load a custom sound off of the SD card in the arcade before I started the video. Pretty helpful and simple way to send PC messages.


Program changes light up red on the Phantasmal Force. Notes are blue, CCs yellow and transport messages are green.

The Phantasmal Force is sending chords to the lemondrop. The chords were generated randomly by the Phantasmal Force and I’m just noodling around with them. "Inspired my the one of my favorite tracks, i wanted to play with the idea of layering multiple acid style basslines and bringing them in and out using the looper function on the 1010 blackbox. I'm realising i do something similar in my live setup. I'll take multiple midi sequences and send them all to the same synthesizer (ex. [Dawless Live Set below]) Anyway, this turned out a lot cooler than i had hoped! Also, running a straight forward analog monophonic subtractive synthesizer through some FX can REALLY help it go a lot further."

"This sequenced ambient jam features the OXI ONE sequencer, the Töörö wavetable synth, the Bluebox and three MS-70CDRs. It is inspired by @s1gns0fl1fe's Space Ambient Tutorial, but using a hardware synth, effects and a sequencer instead of software synths, software effects and a DAW.

The audio is recorded to SD card on a Bluebox recorder/mixer and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on a Canon EOS M50 mk2 with the included EF-M 15-45mm lens. Audio and video is synchronized in DaVinci Resolve 17.
