GeneralMusic S2R Music Processor Rack Synth

via this auction

"The S2R Music Processor is a digital synthesizer workstation with 6 MB of sampled waveforms as the basis for the oscillators which are processed through two Variable Filters and a programmable envelope. The S2R came standard with 2 MB of sample ram and the new Turbo feature which allows sample data to be loaded from floppy disk without having to be converted on a computer first.

The synthesizer engine is 32-note polyphonic.

The sound structure is similar to older Korg models: Two oscillators per voice (it can also use one oscillator per voice, but with some limitations) which can use one or two of the 209 waveforms included in ROM or any of the multisamples loaded into RAM.

MESSE 2018: General Music Elka Panther Organ Recreation

Published on Apr 11, 2018 sonicstate

"Spotted at the General Music booth in the ominously quiet hall 11.1, was a virtual Organ instrument based on the little known Italian Elka Panther - an organ made in the 1960s to sound like the classic Vox Continental and Farfisas of the time.

The Panther was modeled after they found a pristine Panther original in the estate of an ex Elka employee. Together with all the schematics and manuals.

The new Panther virtual will be available soon priced at around 99 Euros from General Music.

"If you don't know much about this synth, it was made by the Italian company General Music which was also affiliated with Elka that made the Synthex. This GEM S2R even has a Synthex patch (see pictures). This rackmount synth does not have rack ears. When I purchased the synth, it did not come with rack ears. The internal battery has recently been replaced. It includes a US power cord."

New Elka Synthex Cancelled Due to Lack of Funding

"THE ELKA SYNTHEX CAMPAIGN ON INDIEGOGO HAS NOW ENDED. WE'RE SADDENED THAT WE DID NOT REACH THE FUNDING TARGET.

THIS UNFORTUNATELY MEANS THAT ELKA SYNTHEX WILL NOT BE COMING BACK AFTER ALL. WE THANK EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED AND SUPPORTED US.

ALL CONTRIBUTIONS HAVE BEEN REFUNDED. CONTRIBUTORS WILL RECEIVE THESE REFUNDS IN THEIR PAYPAL ACCOUNT, OR ISSUING CREDIT CARD (WITHIN 5 DAYS). IF YOU HAVE ANY FUTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE REFUND PROCESS PLEASE CONTACT INDIEGOGO.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COOL TO BRING ELKA SYNTHEX BACK."

The campaign goal was $414,000. It is currently closed and at $0. Curious what it got up to before closing. If you know, let us know. Also curious what will happen to http://bringelkaback.com.

Update: There is still the digital Synthex 2 from original Synthex creator, Mario Maggi, in the works.
