"Up for auction, a vintage Health Club “Switcheroo” analog synthesizer filter. This unique synth/filter was created by the late synth guru Ray Wilson (1956-2016) [MFOS]. The fully functional unit is in excellent condition and comes with a power source. Only a few of these were produced, and they rarely come up for auction.

Some of the features include:
2 Voltage controlled oscillators (VCO), scaled to 1v/Octave)
1 Voltage controlled filter (self-oscillating and 1v/Octave, as well)
1 Attack-Release envelope generator
1 Low-frequency oscillator (LFO)
1 Voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA)
1 Mixer
1 White Noise Generator"

Health Club MFOS Synth With TT-78

Published on Aug 29, 2018 Perfect Circuit Audio

"This odd synthesizer is a Health Club Micro Game, the front panel looks like it is designed more for a day at the beach than in the studio, there is even a rope handle. The circuit is based on a design from MFOS (Music From Outer Space). The drums are from a Cyclone Analogic TT-78 drum machine and a Doepfer Dark Time is used to sequence the Micro Game.

Healthclub Switcheroo Boutique Analog Synth on a Rope

"Rare chance to buy a Switcheroo synthesizer in fantastic condition. Only a few of these were ever made by Health Club.
Really unique sounding - deep, gritty analog whooshes and subs, as well as screeching warbles. Sounds like nothing else I've come across, yet still capable of dense, rumbling pads and wide basses. Totally analog signal.

The Switcheroo features:
2 Voltage controlled oscillators (VCO), scaled to 1v/Octave
1 Voltage-controlled filter (self-oscillating and 1v/Octave too)
1 Attack-Release envelope generator
1 Low-frequency oscillator (LFO) w
1 Voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA)
1 Envelope follower (that can trigger the envelope)
1 MIXER
1 White Noise generator
CV and gate in. (NO MIDI IN)

Based on Ray Wilson's MFOS design this is quite a one-off synth. Of all the synths I have owned it reminds me most of a VCS3 in terms of the rawness of the sound and the endless possibilities to cross modulate everything. You can also do some unusual things such as plug in a guitar, keyboard, drum machine into the envelope follower and it can then modulate the VCA, oscillators, and filter! The Envelope can be triggered by a gate signal from a sequencer or keyboard or it can be triggered by the LFO or it can self loop (like the VCS3 trapezoid). Works great as a drone machinne, as well as a full fledged synth. The oscillators can be synced together and modulated by just about anything and everything. All in all a great synth for experimentation and research into the farthest corners of the sonic sphere (OK a bit OTT but you know what I mean). Includes 12vAC adapter."

Pads & Envelopes

YouTube Uploaded by traumaduo on Jun 3, 2011

"John Trauma messing around with the Modular Mix from Health Club Music

Using different padsounds from Roland JP8x & Jupiter 4, Ensoniq Mirage, Korg Delta & Poly 800, Lem Bit 99

all this pads where feeded into the Audio Inputs of the Modular Mixer. The Envelopes of the Mixer are running autonomously. The Channels where are used are from 2 till 7.

Channel 1 is triggered by the Leploop. The filter is self oscillating and the Cutoff-Frequency is modulated by Sample&Hold from the Korg MS20.

Channel 8 is also triggered by the Leploop feeded by White Noise from the Korg MS50. The Cutoff-Frequency is modualted by a triangle Wave from the LFO of the MS50"

The Magic Echo Music GEM Optical Theremin

via Magic Echo Music

"These GEMs are noise making art objects that are so much fun to play and perform with.

It is a single square wave oscillator that changes in pitch depending on the intensity of light exposed to it.

There is an additional LFO (low frequency oscillator) that can be switched on or off to modulate the primary oscillator.

The LFO is a Sawtooth wave that can create tremolo effects while oscillating at a higher speed. There is a speed knob to control its frequency.

There is also an additional CV (control input) 1/4" jack so you can use this with your other analog synthesizer outputs!

Outputs to both stereo headphones and your amplifiers. These GEMs get LOUD.

This video [below] was taken during its prototype stages, so the product looks different. You're looking at the real deal in the photos." Magic Echo Music formerly designed with Health Club Music that brought us the synth on a rope. You can see more of her new projects at www.magicechomusic.com.

Health Club Music Soundlab Mini Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"For auction: one of the "Playpad" versions of the Soundlab Mini-synth by Health Club Music- only two Playpad versions were ever made! The interface should be pretty self-explanatory to those interested in this auction- mostly patched with banana cables plus a few 1/4" ins and main out as well. This synth is in the same physical and working condition it was in when it arrived new. The unit requires 12VAC/500mA and will come with a normal wall wart power supply for 120VAC/60Hz outlets so is ready to use for standard US outlets. More info and audio samples can be found here"

Health Club Boomin Analog Drum Synth

via this auction

"This is a super-cool Boomin Analog Drum made by Health Club Music.
It is based on the Roland TR-808 Bass Drum, but with much more control over the types of sounds it can make.
It can be triggered by the onboard pad or an external source like a microphone, drum pad, or any sound source.
This particular Boomin can reach self-oscillation when the decay is turned up all the way."

Health Club Music Boomin Analog Bass Drum

"It's cool! You can play it with a drum stick, trigger it from a drum machine trigger out, or any sound input to the jack.

This particular one has a reaaaaallllly loooonggg booooooommmm! It self-oscillates at decay maximum and at minimum is a tight bip. The tuning range goes from super-high pitched to sub-audio bass rumbles. You can even make it sound kinda like a rimshot or conga."

Health Club Music Switcheroo Envelope Filter Synth

via this auction

"Health Club Music is a custom boutique builder with typical build/wait times for its units. This auction is the only place where you can get one of these beauties already built - no waiting! I tried it with my vintage synth keyboard and got everything from wild oscillations to serious synthy distortions to sweet envelope filter sweeps. It can also do a ridiculous variety of self-oscillation, even with no input signal. Even though the Switcheroo sounds great with my keyboard, I think it more suited for loops, mixes and drum machines. DJs and producers should love it! I just sold a sweet Jomox M-Resonator, and this Switcheroo is like an M-Resonator on steroids! But, like the Jomox, the Switcheroo is too much filter for me."
