"We first saw the impressive Mayer MD900 at Superbooth a couple of years back, it seemed inconceivable that it was created by such a small team and yet aimed high in terms of features.

It's now out in the world and ready to ship, although yes, it's a chunk of change at £2,958.00, and as they are a small outfit, stock is limited.

But if you do get your hands on one, you'll be able to enjoy an extended Virtual Analogue synth with 16 voices, four parts each with VA modeled oscillators, wavetable, sample playback, drum sequencing and more.

Everything is modeled in DSP and does a pretty good job of it, according to @matthsmatthsmatths who is taking a look at it for us.

"Mayer EMI's new Vibes is a virtual analog synthesizer offering wavetable synthesis capabilities using the same X-VA engine as the MD900, all in a seemingly lower size and price.

As with the MD900, the X-VA sound engine features 4-part multitimbrality, two virtual analog or wavetable oscillators per voice and an additional sample-based noise section, 16-voice polyphony and stereo. The multimode filter allows the emulation of classic filter types and the routing matrix allows the routing of the different modulation options. Finally, each of the four parts has its own effects section, with reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, compressor, EQ, and more.

In addition, you find a sample-based drum section, an arpeggiator, a step sequencer and a clip launch function. On the subject of connectivity, the latter seems quite complete, with inputs and outputs on 6.35 mm jack, a DIN MIDI input and output, or three USB ports.

The release date has not yet been announced, but the Vibes should be available from retailers of the brand at a price of around €2,000. More information to follow on the Mayer EMI website."

Mayer Electronic Music Instruments MD900 Extended Virtual Analog (XVA) Desktop Synthesizer

MD900 is a polyphonic desktop synthesizer, multitimbral with 4 parts. A polyphony of 16 voices are shared by the 4 multi-timbral parts. All of these 4 parts have their own effect stack [Mod-Delay (flanger, chorus, vibrato), Reverb, Tube-AMP, EQ, LP-Filter, DYNAMIC (Limiter) , Stereo Delay ...].

The overall audio path is stereo. Rationally, the oscillator, mixer filter, amps and effects are all in stereo.

Four independent arpeggiator und step sequenzer assigned to each of the four synth parts. The trigger sequencer may trigger the built in transient sample player (Drum Kit .wav) or send triggers to MIDI-Out (USB-DIN or USB-MIDI)

The housing is made of aluminum with real walnut wood on the front and back.
All components are industrial grade. On the operator panel we use precision potentiometer with aluminum covered knobs.
For some parameter entries we use endless encoder without rest.
This kind of encoders feels like a potentiometer.
All of this feels very valuable and it feels great to work with.

The MD900 XVA engine is patch compatible with the M800-R2 synthesizer.
