"Love what @aqeelaadamsound and @blankfor.ms crafted with their awesome #outgrowth app ❤️❤️❤️ Here i‘m using it as a granular instrument hosted in #musikraken to use camera-tracked hand gestures to move through various waveforms. Left-right movement is mapped to sample/playback start while hand openness is mapped to grain window size. Going out of frame and back in triggers a new waveform using Outgrowth‘s round-robin playback feature. So much fun and yet so much more to explore there…"

The app is built on modified synthesis algorithms from Fractal Bits, Relic Waves, and Relic Flow, with the addition of pure tone generation code.
The sound space is divided into 4294967296 presets, each corresponding to a set of 8 sample textures. The volume of an individual sample can be adjusted in the top panel or via MIDI. The bottom panel is a classic musical keyboard that sets the note for the sounds in the set. Each note triggers all 8 samples at once - together they form a complex harmonic pattern that almost never repeats over time due to the different lengths of the looped fragments.

Features:
search for new sounds with three buttons: next random set, edit code, previous set; each set of 8 sounds corresponds to a code of 8 characters (you can save/copy/paste it as plain text);
three types of keyboards for live performing: on-screen, PC keyboard, MIDI input; for the on-screen keyboard, you can set the number of displayed octaves and scale;
20+ parameters can be controlled via MIDI or directly through the app interface: Settings / MIDI Mapping;

"Live piano improvisation over synth riffs driven by my in-development iOS MIDI control app (no name yet). The app sends MIDI to my computer to play arpeggiators and tweak sound parameters in real time (filters, tone, mix, FX) using on-screen faders, knobs, XY pads, mini keyboards, and pitch bend.

Session routing (Kontakt):
• CH1: Noire Piano — played from Arturia KeyLab 88 Mk3
• CH2: Two synths — driven by the app’s Bass Arpeggiator (riff inspired by Vangelis’ Blade Runner theme)
• CH3: Lead synth — performed from the app’s mini keyboard
• CH4: Minimal electronic drums — driven by a second arpeggiator

Why this app? Many keyboards I use on stage have few (or zero) surface controls—sometimes not even pitch bend—so I built a mobile controller to unlock hands-on control: shape filters, automate movements, morph textures, balance layers, and keep playing fluidly. If this helps me, I know it can help other players too.

This video is a 6-minute+ live jam to show the workflow: arpeggiators keeping motion underneath while I improvise on piano and ride parameters on Page 2 of my scene (faders/knobs/XY). The app is still in development and I plan to release it as soon as possible.

"I’ve released my new app RollBud for DJ style rolls and trance gate effects.

- The XY-pad is customizable for both X-axis (beat lengths) and Y-axis (envelope or mix controls), and it’s also MIDI controllable.

- You can record your movements and play them back. They are saved in iCloud and also the recordings can be triggered with MIDI as well.

- The roll mode has a reversed roll mode playing the loops backwards, and the trance gate mode has a inverted envelope mode for fun.

- Envelope’s rise and fall ratio, curve (logarithmic to linear to exponential) and amount, as well as the dry/wet mix can be set on the UI.

More technical details on the effects:

- Roll mode: records the input signal and starts to loop the last beat from the recorded buffer. The loop length is selected on the xy-pad. Applies the envelope on the each loop. The live signal continues to run underneath and with the dry/wet mix you can balance the mix as you’d like.

- Trance gate: applies the envelope to the live input signal. The envelope duration is selected on the xy-pad. You can use the dry/wet mix to balance the intensity of the effect."
