"This is a fully working very rare Pearl FM-8 Fightman Analog Drum Synthesizer. I believe it was made before the Syncussion. A great piece of 80’s tech!
The closest machine that resembles it in my opinion is a Roland TR-606, except the Fightman has some very real sounding Toms.
The Hi Hat, Crash, are said to be very Metallic and the Ride is almost like a Synth Tone.
This Drum Synth is very hard to come by. This unit does not have Midi.
The only test I was able to perform was plugging it in and powering it up. The tempo light blinks and changes tempo when you adjust the tempo knob.
"I always disliked the dirty, scratched look of my black #MPC1000XL i once bought 2nd hand. In summer 21 i finally found the time to give it a decent styleflip. I planned to make it look a bit like the gorgous #MPC-60. First the original frontpanel was scanned to have a Photohop background. After all outlines and typo were added i gave a faceplate sticker with cutouts into production. Then the case and the acrylic window with it's deep scratches were sanded. The case got a white painting, the window was polished to high gloss. The window did not come out 100% perfect but much better than before. Btw... toothpaste does NOT do the job. Then I made some 3D-prints for nicer Data and Volume knobs, first in fancy transparent blue and red, later dark grey. Not sure which i like more, tending to the red/blue ones. The last step were some woodcheeks - difficult because the 1000 does have strangely formed sides with all kinds of edges and corners.

The first Dataline Sound Pack (DSP) features 100 samples from the classic Syncussion SY1 drum synthesiser. These samples were recorded using both of the SY1 oscillators as layers. Analog Rytm sending 2 individual trigs, at the same time, to the 2 Syncussion channels. Both of these channels would be mixed and sampled in the Rytm.
To celebrate these samples, I have made exclusive patterns to some good old machines - which are featured in the video as audio examples and bundled with the DSP:SYNCUSSION SY1!

"Pearl Syncussion SY-1 original vintage Drum Synthesizer with power supply, recently serviced and had internals cleaned by Thesis Audio Service in Wichita, Kansas, and given a clean bill of health, excellent working condition, cosmetics are fair. All switches, sliders and trigger inputs working great. This is the real deal, not a clone. What you see in the pictures is what you get. Item has typical minor cosmetic imperfections for a unit that is 40 years old but overall very nice. This unit is a lot of fun, especially when triggering by either pads or drum machines via the 1/4 inputs. Pads not included (I never had them)
There is no MIDI ! It sucks that I have to state this but some people are not aware that some of this vintage gear is Pre Midi. If you are looking for midi triggering, buy a clone."
"A true gem of forgotten electronic machines! Totally analog, with digital memories, this japanese Pearl Drum-X had serious potential for successful sales... But came too late on the market! The first models were released in 1987, a year where PCM drums appeared and made those fantastic analog things completly old-fashionned. Anyway, not many were built, and no one seems to know about this lil happy box. Working units can be found for almost nothing, got mine for a hundred bucks, but the 'edit' buttons are broken. Tried to fix that but now my unit doesn't start anymore... Gotta repair this one, as well as so many other machines now. Soon I'll do a noice jam with my soviet Lel UDS, RMIF Elsita, the 808 and this cool Pearl! :D
The Peal Drum-X has a huge variety of sounds, from 909-like toms to typical simmons snares or weird cowbell tones. Later models had MIDI, this one doesn't. But not a problem when you have multi-trigger drum machines! (Such as the Roland R8) It has 5 outputs, plus a mixed one, and the box can be screwed in a rack (Only 2U), so it's definitely a great studio machine, as well as for live gigs thanks the quick patch recall buttons."

These are super cool, I used this one in my studio with my synthesizers, it was driven my my Oberheim "Drummer" and MIDI clocked from my Matrixbrute.
It gave me cool percussion patterns and rhythms to everything I was doing while playing the synths based on the notes I played in real time. Very versatile unit!
Most people would more normally play it from a DAW, Drum Machine or their trigger pads / kit, its good for all!
It is based off the more well known Drum-X, and is the premium version of the MIDI enabled line of Drum-X brains.
The only difference between the SC-20 and SC-40 is that the SC-40 has twice as many voices as the SC-20.

"The Pearl SC-20 Programmable Percussion Synthesizer is an 8 channel programmable drum synthesizer. It creates a wide variety of sounds from typical 1980s Simmons sounds to very strange electronic noises.
