Kraft Music - Sound Comparison - Korg SV-2, Crumar Seven and Viscount Legend 70's

"Find exclusive Korg, Crumar and Viscount BUNDLES at Kraft Music:
https://www.kraftmusic.com/digital-pi...

The Korg SV-2, Crumar Seven and Viscount Legend '70s, are all three powerful instruments that offer each a unique set of features, control panel and most importantly, type of sound. Some musicians require that, "certain sound" that really matches with the music or the style they're playing. High gain, slight distortion, subtle rotary and etc, all matter when you are considering which electric piano is the right fit for you. Another thought to consider is the panel layout. If you're a working musician, there's a strong chance you're looking for a very specific set of features and settings placed in a convenient area of the panel for easier access. No screen driving, pressing shift for alternative functions or use of jog dials.

While not meant to be a deep-dive into the difference in sound, we patched together this short sound comparison of the three aforementioned pianos. Each piano closely playing the same piece written and performed by our good friend Ray Tevich.

Take a quick sound check of the Korg SV-2, Crumar Seven and Viscount Legend 70's Electric pianos and consider what are the sounds and features that matter to you! If you'd like, you can give us a all or chat with us at Kraftmusic.com and ask us any questions you have regarding any of these pianos. Our team is composed of seasoned musicians that love to share their passion of music with everyone, and help you with your musical endeavors.

"Brilliant synth, as long as you don't expect it to be an OB-XA.....Instead, it has to be considered for what it is: a Virtual Analog with a whole lot of possibilities. Strong points are it's pads, basses and particularly it's weirdo sounds. Viscount have really good VA technonlogy, just look at their organs and more recently their acoustic and electric piano simulations. Real-time performance accessoiries are great: phrase recorder, arp, motion recorder and the ribbon controller which alows you to control 2 parameters at a time. Important: the hold function of the ribbon controller actually works on this instrument. Most OB-12's have a none working hold function.
This synth got a lot of negative critics and opinions when it came out, because people expected an Oberheim OB series...which it isn't. It has a personality of it's own, very organic and that is why they are starting to be highly thought of. It is, IMHO, also one of the most beautiful synths ever made. Moreover, there were not a lot of them manufactured..."

NAMM 2020 Viscount Legend '70s Stage Piano w/ Swappable Front Panels

Published on Jan 16, 2020 Kraft Music

Don't miss the demo of the modular front panel.  This is interesting.  New modules may come in time. I really love the idea of this - a customizable hardware synth not restricted by panel layout. Sleeper hit from NAMM? Imagine if Roland did this for all of their vintage synth models. Imagine a Jupiter-X or Xm with swappable hardware controls. No more having to mentally map synth engines to front panel controls - you just swap out the real panels and arrange them however you like. It would allow you to explore vintage synth engines as they were originally designed for a more authentic experience. Size would be a factor of course... Regardless, this is an interesting design worth some consideration.

There is also an 88-key edition with a wooden keyboard, the Legend '70s Artist W (starting at $3,060), at the same weight. OBERHEIM OB-12 VIRTUAL ANALOG POLYPHONIC SYNTHESIZER

via eBay and Reverb.

The listing states: "This blue beauty is Oberheim's virtual-analog version of the classic sounds and tone of the original Oberheim synthesizers, with some additional modern features."

The OB-12 actually does NOT sound like a classic Oberheim. That said, it is a good sounding VA with it's own character. It excels at strings and pads as well as some harsh and abrasive sounds. Be careful with the resonance turned up high. It can be ear piercing in a way not found on other synths, except maybe the Akai AX-60. The OB-12 was a Viscount synth.
