Reason Micro Tutorial - Kong's Synth Drums
YouTube via PropellerheadSW | July 11, 2010
Double Rainbow ref in this one.
"Has music just not sounded the same to you since Miami Vice went off the air? Then you're in luck! The synth drums in Kong bring analog drum sounds back to your music. Most analog sounds these days are sampled, meaning the sound you load is the sound you've got. In this micro tutorial you'll see how easy it is to make wonderfully tweakable analog synth drums and assign them to your pads."

Yamaha CS-01 Documentation and Charlotte the Cat
via Lee Tizzard
"Here are a few pics of my Yamaha cs-01 and documentation ( the original manual and product info./ ad )
Included in these pics is a captioned pic of Charlotte the cat revealing a common misnomer about the little cs-o1 "analogue" synth. (perhaps you could post on your fine MATRIXSYNTH site)
About 5 years ago I came across a site that retro-fitted all older mono analogue synths with MIDI, but noticed that the CS-01 was not on their list.
So I emailed them and asked if they could MIDI retrofit my CS-01 and how much it would cost, they responded saying "first I would have to get it modified with Gates an CV's, because the CS-01's VCO was actually a DCO."
The cost would have been about $250, so I passed.
Now I see that Highlyliquid will MIDI retrofit a CS-01 without the need for gates or cv's for less than $50.
Cheers,
Lee"

E-Mu Emulator for a Buck.. In a Van... Down by the River
In Portland via this Craigslist post:
"Original EMU Emulator Sampler with teh 5 1/4 Floppy Drive, and one Disc. Looking for a Best CASH Offer on this one. It powers up, but I have not tried to get it to function. It is in my car, very heavy, and I don't quite have the patience to check it out, or go about finding 5 1/4 inch discs to try it out with. I am in SE portland. But for a collector or someone with patience, this is your chance to grab a Very Rare and one of the Very First Samplers for your Museum :)"

Gonzo Makes Lolcats
Remember Gonzo? It looks like he's up on I Can Has Cheeseburger?, I beleive the official lolcat site. What's a lolcat? Some bizarre craze going on where people put silly words, usually in the font you see, on images of cats and sometimes other animals. Some are actually pretty funny. You can create your own at the I Can Has Cheeseburger? site. Nice name for a site, btw. As for synths... Sherman Filterbank, MOOG The Rogue, and KORG MS20. via Michael.

Con Brio ADS200... in a van... down by the river...
A little humor in the title for any fans of Chris Farley and his classic Van Down by The River skit on SNL (Saturday Night Live).
Humor aside, Brian Kehew of The Moog Cookbook sent me some exclusive shots of his Con Brio ADS200. You can check them out here. More will follow after the show mentioned below. If you remember from this previous post, only two of these were made and this one has just been resuscitated. If you are in the area you can see and hear it at "The FAIR and the MUSEUM: Sat/Sun 10-6 pm!! Exhibits from 2-6pm!"
More info on this shots from Brian:
You will see -
1) Con Brio ADS200 - the one I've had for over almost 15 years. This was me driving it up to a "vintage computer warehouse" in Silicon Valley - hoping we could get it running again.
2) Con Brio ADS200-R, which was picked up on the way, where it had been stored in a garage! Or the main part of it - minus the keyboards, which are already taken out. It hadn't worked when it was put away either - and no discs or manual, alas...
3) One of the main boards inside (forget which one), there are about 10 inside, various functions.
4) The wiring BEHIND that very board - now you can see why this stuff was so expensive to make - this is called "wire wrap" construction, and VERY time intensive - and you can't make a mistake!"
