Hardware Girls

via @muffwiggler

"Thought of @matrixsynth when I bought this awesome "Hardware Girls" photobook in Tokyo"

:)

Update via the world of next tuesday in the comments: "I'm not familiar with her but did some quick research. Looks like she really multitasks (though I presume she has a staff). As a photographer she's Julie Watai or just Julie. She's modeling in her own pictures which aren't just music gear but vintage games and computers too. As a pro model she's called Ai Amano. Then she does chiptune singing gigs as JulieHally."

Pro Tools 9 Goes Native

I try to limit posts to synths only, but I'll make an exception for this. Pro Tools has finally gone native. Video below.

"The Next Generation of Pro Audio Production

Open yourself to the possibilities. Pro Tools 9 redefines the world’s most popular, most advanced music and audio production platform with a completely re-architected, open version of Pro Tools software, giving you what you asked for—and so much more.

Work with an audio interface—or without. Create bigger, better-sounding mixes with more tracks, Automatic Delay Compensation, and other pro features included as standard. Open your workflow to projects created in other audio and video software—and to the entire Avid Artist Series and Pro Series (formerly Euphonix) console/controller line. With Pro Tools 9, you can compose, record, sequence, edit, and mix the way you want—in more ways than ever.

Work the way you want
Get the flexibility of using Pro Tools 9 with your favorite Avid audio interface or third-party Core Audio- or ASIO-compatible interface—or use Pro Tools 9 completely standalone for easy on-the-go creation.

Create bigger, better mixes
Develop larger, more complex projects, with up to 96 or 192* simultaneous audio tracks, 128 instrument tracks, 512 MIDI tracks, 256 internal busses, and 160 aux tracks. See all track specifications.

Be more creative with coveted professional tools
Work efficiently and get the best sonic results with Automatic Delay Compensation, multitrack Beat Detective, full Import Session Data dialog, DigiBase Pro, and other separately priced add-ons—now standard.

Collaborate with others more easily
Team up with other creators, editors, and mixers easily—with built-in OMF/AAF/MXF file interchange support, you can exchange projects created in other audio and video software with Pro Tools and vice-versa.

Get more options to grab hold of your mix
Along with C|24 and ICON*, you can now use Avid Artist Series and Pro Series consoles and controllers to enhance your editing and mixing workflow, thanks to added EUCON integration.

Work with picture in more ways
Expand your post production capabilities with powerful features now included as standard, such as the Time Code Ruler, OMF/AAF/MXF interchange, variable stereo pan depths, and updated 7.1 surround panner*.

Boost your power with Complete Production Toolkit 2
Get the Pro Tools HD software feature set**—without a Pro Tools|HD or Pro Tools|HD Native system—with the Complete Production Toolkit 2 option."

Tom Oberheim SEM Pro!

"Geoff Farr of GSF Agency has taken over exclusive distribution of Tom Oberheim's new SEM product line. There is a new one, the SEM Pro, shown here playing beautifully with a Moog CP-251. The Pro combines the best features of both the MIDI and patchable versions, and includes Tom's personal signature on the front.
I had a lot of fun messing around with this prototype during testing, and I can honestly say that this pair is a killer combo!

Update: Note the Waldorf Wave spotted in the background by Computer Controlled in the comments. Geoff Farr was the US distributor for Waldorf back during the first iteration of the company.

Musikladen - Massive Classic Synth Spotting Vids

This one in via swissdoc. Videos below. There are quite a few, so if you are viewing this post on the main page, click on the "Click for more" link below.

"This is about a German TV Show from the past, called "Musikladen". Currently they repeat the whole lot, good for Synth-Spotting (and more) -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musikladen

Synth-wise they have lots of acts using Synths on the show, mostly they use their own synths on Stage, in other cases, they use the varying "resident" synths, basically a set of 2 MS-20 side by side or a 3-set from ARP (polyphonic (strings or piano), monophonic, sequencer.

SOUND TWISTER

https://sites.google.com/site/soundtwister/

"I started to be fascinated with electronic instrument in 1978. At that time, because of the price and as I was quite young, I started reading specialized electronic magazines trying to understand how to built a modular synthesizer. The first instrument I bought at 16 years old was a FM oriented Yamaha instrument. It was ok, but already at that time I wanted an analog sound..."
