Soulsby Synthesizers Releases the Odytron Special Edition

Soulsby Synths - Odytron Special Edition

"London, UK - 01/02/16. Soulsby Synthesizers have released their much anticipated Odytron Special Edition today. The Odytron is a limited edition of their Atmegatron 8-bit MIDI synth module. It comes pre-loaded with the brand new Odytron software and factory presets, as well as having unique Odytron paintwork. Only 150 units have been manufactured.

The Odytron is £225 inc VAT (approx $339) and currently only available from their website. Shipping is available worldwide. Some retailers will be stocking it in the near future.

The Odytron software simulates the specification of a classic analogue synth but in an 8-bit environment. The result is a fascinating combination of analogue warmth and 8-bit grit. Features include: 2 independent oscillators (duophonic), 2 filter algorithms + bypass, 2 envelopes, LFO, ring mod, wave sync and numerous modulation methods.

Despite the sound being radically different to the original Atmegatron software, the Odytron is 100% Atmegatron compatible and comes bundled with 3 overlays and a programmer cable. This means that it is essentially 4 synths for the price of one. The overlays for the alternative synth engines are: Atmegatron (the classic software), Atmegadrum (drum machine) & Delayertron (delay effects synth).

Paul Soulsby, CEO of Soulsby Synthesizers: 'This software version has taken nearly a year to develop and has been a real labour of love. I was determined to see just how many classic analogue synth features could be crammed into the little Atmega micro-controller. I hope people enjoy this unique blend of synthesis.'

Existing Atmegatron owners can download the Odytron software from the website for free and can also purchase optional extras: vinyl overlay, programmer cable and instructions."

"Absolutely mint Moog Prodigy MK1, virtually no marks on the chassis and really little on the wood panels, the varnish is still glossy. This synth has been serviced a year ago and is working perfectly. it stays in tune really well too. Really great sounding Moog, the raw oscillators sound are great and full and the famous oscillator Mod screams. The 24db ladder filter is what you would expect from a vintage Moog, creamy, fat... and of course the resonance will go all the way to self oscillation."

Latin Percussion is a sample-based plugin (VST/AU/AAX) emulation of the Sound Master Latin Percussion, a rare analog drum machine form the 80s. The instrument features 6 classic latin sounds: Bass, Low Conga, High Conga, Bongo, Claves, and Maracas, which can be pitched, panned or mixed independently. You can additionally shape the sound with the Overdrive and Reverb.

The sequencer lets you easily build patterns that you can also drag and drop to your DAW."

Emerson Lake & Palmer - 'Pirates' practice

Replicating the GX1 with various synths.

"I ran through my 'Pirates' set-up for Kev yesterday. I've been working on the piece for a few weeks - going through it, learning it and also making patches and mapping them out on the synths. It's not an easy one... I want to make it similar to the band-only performances when ELP had to drop the orchestra. It really is my favourite version where the GX-1 shines and you can hear Emo really getting to grips with the sounds. He used sounds that were very similar but with subtle differences which makes the piece for me. It should be much more satisfying that sticking with "orchestral" sounds as most people seem to do...! Anyway, I don't know it all yet so I didn't want to play it for a video... but it looks like Kev had other ideas...;)"
