Digital Cymbal

video upload by George Benton

"I took an MKS50240 Top Octave Synthesizer IC (TOS) and copying from a Lowrey Organ circuit from the 80's made a Digital Cymbal noise Generator.
Lowrey D350. The MKS50240 is obsolete as far as I know. If anyone can source them put it in the comments. I hope to do a part 2 when finished."

Kind of like the EML Polybox.

JVC & Lowrey Keyboards KB-500 KB-700 Micro Genie

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Note these are from supporting member, Loscha.

The are listed for parts. Note the smokey transparent music stands, that also act as front panel covers when not in use, on each of them.

"Of Note: all of these keyboards have the smoke grey plastic music stands, and they don't have the tabs broken off!!!!! These are quite rare in any condition as they fall off if you carry the keyboard at an awkward angle, and can shatter.

Despite my vague notes here about the keyboards partial functionality, the only one I can be sure of is that the KB-700 actually was making good noise, accompaniment played, voices switched, etc.

Updated to add: the winner of the auction will receive the KB-500 service manual via email. I had to purchase this separately.

NO RETURNS ACCEPTED -- THESE ARE SOLD AS IS, AS STANDING.
JVC KB-500 White Keys - no sound, doesn't power up
JVC KB-500 Black Case Silver Keys - no sound, doesn't power up
JVC KB-700 - this one works except for tempo slider.
Lowrey Micro Genie V-120 "Mach Plus" (rebadged JVC KB-700) only a few keys worked a few times, I think the drums worked however
Lowrey Micro Genie V-105 with MIDI - doesn't turn on at all. Has a cute little cartridge that stores the accompaniment patterns.

These are collection ONLY from Neill St Carlton, Melbourne, Australia."

Custom DIY Lowery Organ Bass Pedals Midi Controller

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is a custom made foot pedal midi controller. It was created using original Lowery organ bass pedals.

It functions much like your average midi controller keyboard, but specifically tailored to the needs of live foot controls. For example, it has a hold feature which holds the last pressed note only until you press the next note, allowing you to play it much like a bass guitar but with one foot. With its midi capability you can trigger samples, loops, and easily change the octave/patch on the fly. Compared to the Nord or other bulk manufactured options, this is an opportunity to own a one of a kind epic that performs just as well for a fraction of the cost."

Ethereal cheesy organ

Published on Sep 22, 2016 100 Things I Do

"I was looking for some new atmospheric sounds to use on a track and thought I would do a very quick clip to share. I'm still working on this weekends also.

$20 Lowery Wandering Genie Organ going into a wold of delay, reverb and some pitch shifting to create a much more unique sound. The top end still needs some taming but low in a track it would work really nice"

Lowrey Genie meets Microbrute, Minilogue, Mother, Vahlhalla

Published on Feb 21, 2016 Earmonkey Music

"I found this little organ at the swap meet yesterday for $35. Brought it home, Played its cheesiness for a while (I"ll post my Little Mermaid jam later....I'm not kidding), and then introduced it to the big boys. Shove this thing through some Valhalla Ubermod and Shimmer (big plug for those FX plugins here), and you have a beautiful sounding thing indeed. The volume pedal on the organ allows you do to the swelling pads. The "repeat" feature on the organ gives you kind of an LFO of sorts in that it will retrigger a preset. I kind of messed with that in here and varied the speed of the repeat. It almost goes into the audio range....too bad it doesn't quite make it. Anyway, the Microbrute you can see, and the Minilogue and Mother 32 are synced via my Beatstep Pro playing a simple sequence that comes in a few minutes into the thing. But I think this goes to show that you don't need a Prophet 6 to make nice music. Though, if anyone out there wants to send me a Prophet 6, I'm game."

A joygasmically ballztastic synthy blues shred jam on nine keyboards!

Published on Jun 4, 2013

"More music on umop.com/parallax.htm

The blues was not meant to evolve into this. It was not meant for a scrawny, ashen man-child idiotically kanoodling in his air-conditioned man-cave filled with rare, blinkety-blinking Japanese noiseboxes. But it's 2013 and this is just what it's come to!

Sorry I haven't uploaded any movies in a while. Or maybe I should say YOU'RE WELCOME if it's going to be this kind of thing, eh? I really would like a vacation from this person that I've become. Sometimes I wish I was more like a cool bass-player type dude with big arms & knows how to work on cars. Or maybe not even a musician at all... maybe just a ranch hand from Wyoming who knows fourteen different types of hay. And can bale the shit out of any of them.

Why am I still typing"

Extremely Rare 3 Manual LOWREY G-7000 Organ Synthesizer

via this auction
"This organ sold new for about $32,000

Auction includes Organ, Pedalboard, Nice Padded Bench, Owners Manual, Two "Style" cartridges [Variety 1 & Contempo 2] plus Two Lowrey Song books as pictured.

The organ has beautiful full sound with flutes and string sounds that Lowery organs are famous for via traditional organ stop tabs that are lighted plus a plethora of synthesized orchestral voices via lighted push buttons. The organ has a gorgeous, room-filling sound, from a host of built-in speakers including a very realistic Leslie rotating speaker simulator. Features GALORE!!

~THINK OF THIS ORGAN AS A GIANT PRESET SYNTHESIZER MONSTER!~

Built in Rhythms and auto accompaniment features makes this organ a breeze to play and learn on. Split-voicing function on lower keyboard gives you even more performance options - like having a phantom 4th keyboard/manual. Designed for both the beginner and advanced organist. Excellent for advanced players as well as the organ can be played as a typical organ without automatic features as well. This thing looks real cool when light up in a dimly lit room - My wife says it looks like a futuristic jukebox on steroids! Cabinet is in good condition with typical scratch/dents here-and-there and slight surface marring on left-side. Has tambour, wooden roll-top for when the organ is not being used. Lights and indicators on the back rail push-button control panel are working and lighted LCD display is in good condition and easy-to-read. Alesis Reverb. Lighted graphic mixer for balancing the organ voices /sounds to your liking. I brought this organ from an older gentleman's estate for conversion to a virtual theatre pipe organ and MIDI controller for external MIDI synthesizer modules because of the three full sized keyboards and pedalboard and its MIDI capabilities but decided to go in another direction. All functions on the organ were working fine when purchased but now the upper keyboard doesn't work as it should which I suspect was the result of moving the organ [movers placed it on its back when it was transported]. I don't have a local organ tech but have been in touch with a few organ techs on-line who said that the problem is most likely due to a loose circuit board that got disturbed during the move [not guaranteed that this is the problem, just a suggestion]. As it wasn't a concern of mine, I didn't pursue repairing the sound function as I was intending using it for its MIDI capabilities and creating a HUGE MONSTER Synthesizer & Virtual Pipe Organ. [However, if you want to use this organ with the internal voices, I wanted you to be aware of this and that the upper keyboard section will need attention].

The organ is heavy - about 300-350 +/- lbs."

via the Lowrey story pdf on Lowrey.com:
"1989 - Lowrey has brought forth the G-7000, the largest regular production home organ in the world, featuring three 61-note keyboards and 25 console pedals. The G-7000 represents the culmination of the Genius Series and uses the full compliment of Lowrey easy-play features. Digital Genius voicing is introduced, by far the most authentic- sounding musical voices available."

Sonic Reality Studios

click here for a video walkthrough of the studio on Keyboard Magazine online. Check out the custom Oberheim SEM racks.

In the third video they talk about the Lowrey organ used in The' Who's Baba O'riley. They mention that some thought the gated sequence effect in the track was done with a synth but was actually all the Lowrey organ, specifically the Marimba effect. Do not confuse this with The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again below which was processed by the EMS VC3S.

Add a popular '80s song with an unpopular '70s organ that weighs over 400 lbs., with a few '60 tiki mugs, and what do you get? More timelessly delicious cheese than the entire state of Wisonsin, for starters. Enjoy without apologies."
