VEMIA is Peter Forrest's auction house. He is the author of The A-Z of Analogue Synthesizer Books.
"CR-8000s are seriously lovely drum machines, but they have tended to last less well over the years than some of the other classic Roland drum machines. This one is an exception. It looks like it could have been made yesterday. Why have we not called it mint? Well, if you study the close-up pic of the left front corner, you might see some tiny marks. But this still exudes an amazing quality of newness.
In full working order (obviously scarcely played at all in its life) with its original user manual and service manual, and with its original carton and internal polystyrene bits. It also has its original dust cover, which possibly helps explain how incredibly new it looks. We'll cover the carton in card to keep it free of address labels etc..: 6GBP."

classic analog drum machines: Korg KR-55 & Roland CR-8000
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by ohm_studi_ohm
"KORG KR-55 for sale [via this listing]
Since they look so similiar it was too tempting to compare those 2 classic rhythm units. Despite their similar design they are quite different, and the comparision is not really fair to the Korg since the Roland has programing abiltities. The CR-5000 would have been a closer contender but I don't own one so it is the 8000.
Though the Korg Rhythm 55 has less features and sounds than the Roland it has more patterns (48 patterns wheras the Roland features 24 preset patterns and 8 user ones) and a tighter, punchier sound.
Overall I prefer the Roland, especially for percussive sound (cowbell, claves, tom, rimshot and that amazing clap) but the kick, snare and hi hats of the Korg are very nice.
The Korg was fitted with a 24 ppq clock input so it can easily be synced to other gear in the studio, as it is the case here, slaved to the Roland.
The Roland had it's Kick, Snare and Toms sounds modified slightly. The kick is lower and boomier than it originally is and the snare is way snappier than it originally is. The Tom had the white noise part removed to have a more round sound."

"Classic presets analog drum machine from 1979.
Unit was serviced and is in fully working order.
It was fitted with a 3,5mm jack clock input. It works on 24 PPQ so like most of the gear you will have in your studio and much easier to sync than the 8 PPQ the unit internally runs on. Check the video, as it is synced to the Roland CR-8000
Cosmetic is fair with some cracks on the case and bumps here and there, see pictures."

ESK - Drums + Mixer Jamsession
video upload by Metunar
"Jamsession with an Elektron Digitakt and a Roland CR-8000 mixed together in an analog Ibanez RM-60 Mixer.
There is also reverb from a Lexicon PCM 90 (yellow FX knob on the mixer).
Furthermore I use the monitoring send as feedback line (blue FX knob on the mixer).
With mastering.
The Ibanez RM-60 is similar in design to the Boss KM-60. The Boss has more drive in the preamp and the HiPass filter in the master section can be used better in a performance.
The Ibanez Mixer on the other side has less ground noise and a monitor send.
I like both of them. Good usable for a jamsession.

8/4/23 Electrocomp EML 200 (flutes) + Roland CR-8000 (squirrel heartbeat) on undated cassette tape
video upload by Cfpp0
"This is an excerpt from an undated and unlabeled cassette tape from 2020 or 2021. EML 200 with a short envelope into its spring reverb, plus a kick drum from the modded Roland CR-8000 we used to have. I imagine a squirrel scurrying from tree to tree along the edge of Lake Waramaug. The video cuts right when the CR-8000’s congas kick in and the recording stops making any sense."

ROLAND CR-8000 Analog Drum Machine 1981 | HD DEMO
Published on Jun 4, 2020 AnalogAudio1
"(c) 2020 by AnalogAudio1
The Roland CR-8000 is a programmable analog rhythm box. 8 memories for own patterns. Fill In, Roland DIN sync, TRIG OUT jacks and other nice features. The sound is similar to the Roland TR-808!
The CR-8000 has a great analog sound.
I played the Roland CR-8000 with a small amout of ambience from Lexicon MPX-500. In the intro I played the CR-8000 along with the MPX-500."
