Syntakt 1.40 update | Drum n Bass

video upload by VoltageCtrlRtv

"The new Elektron Syntakt 1.40 update opens up some really interesting creative possibilities, so I decided to take it for a spin with a Jungle / Drum & Bass session built around the legendary Amen Break.

In this session I’m layering chopped Amen break fragments with additional sampled percussive elements, then shaping the groove using the Syntakt’s sequencing and modulation tools. The goal wasn’t to recreate classic jungle exactly, but to explore how the Syntakt’s hybrid digital/analog engines can push those rhythms into new territory.

I’m also using several of my custom presets from my Syntakt West Kept Secrets and Formless Sound Packs, which add evolving textures, bass layers, and percussive machines that blend nicely with breakbeat programming.

One of the things I love about the Syntakt is how quickly you can move from an idea to a full performance. With the new update, the workflow feels even tighter for live rhythmic experimentation.

If you're into Jungle, Drum & Bass, IDM, or experimental rhythm programming, this session might give you some ideas for pushing the Syntakt further.

The Art of Merging African Polyrhythms with Futuristic Sound Design | Hydrasynth | Machinedrum

video upload by VoltageCtrlRtv

"Lately, I’ve been diving deep into the Elektron Machinedrum and Analog Heat +FX, crafting some truly otherworldly rhythms for an upcoming Frequenseers scene.

The focus? Merging African polyrhythms with futuristic sound design. I’m layering ancient rhythmic traditions—syncopation, call-and-response, and cyclical grooves, then pushing them through modern bit-crushing distortion, harmonic saturation, and dynamic filtering.

The result? A sonic journey that bridges the ancient and the modern, weaving the pulse of ancestral drums into an Afrofuturistic soundscape. These rhythms don’t just move the body, they resonate with the soul, telling stories of a timeless connection between rhythm and evolution.

The Frequenseers live in a world where time is fluid, where tradition meets innovation. Through sound, I’m exploring how these hybrid beings communicate—vibrations that are equal parts history and prophecy.

Elektron | Analog Four | Digitone | Jazz Sketch

video upload by VoltageCtrlRtv

"In this video, I'm taking you through my latest Synth Jazz sketch, where I fuse hybrid jazz drums with electronic melodies. I’m using the Elektron Analog RYTM to lay down some groove-heavy, jazz-inspired drum patterns, blending the warmth of analog synthesis with crisp digital samples. The Digitone then steps in to deliver lush, evolving FM tones and melodic lines that add a smooth, atmospheric vibe to the mix.

Machinedrum X Digitone Memories Are Portals

video upload by VoltageCtrlRtv

"Back to the sonic experiments with the Machinedrum and Digitone today.

The Machinedrum is my demolition crew. I crank the compressor, sculpting earth-shaking kicks and snare cracks that sting. Decay knobs become my paintbrush, leaving trails of haunting ghost notes. It's a percussive warzone, raw samples transformed into heavy artillery. Then I switch gears, the Digitone becoming my sonic architect. I twist its metallic heart, coaxing out FM tones that shimmer and bite. Arpeggios become rhythmic companions, each note a brick building a driving bassline. Together, they're a brutal fusion... the Machinedrum's raw power intertwined with the Digitone's laser-sharp melodies. It's a sonic assault, a dance between chaos and precision.

I included a .wav file from the Machinedrum for the

Primordial Melodies \ Digitone Machinedrum Modular Synth Jam

video upload by VoltageCtrlRtv

"This week I embarked on another sonic exploration with my trusty modular synth, digitone, and machine drum to create a new composition. As I plugged in the cables and turned on the machines, I felt a familiar excitement coursing through my veins. I began to tweak the knobs and dials on the modular synth, experimenting with different sounds and textures. The digitone provided a melodic foundation, and the machine drum added a pulsing beat that made my head nod. As the composition started to take shape, I lost track of time and became completely absorbed in the creative process. It was only when I stepped back and hit the "play" button that I realized I had just spent the last hour or so lost in the beautiful chaos of this composition. I made the stems of this song available for my http://patreon.com/voltagectrlr subscribers."

'Sonic Visions of the Ancestors' is a mesmerizing composition that seamlessly blends reimagined African rhythms with a futuristic soundscape. The use of a modular synthesizer, Elektron Machinedrum, and Digitone FM Synth creates a unique and otherworldly sonic experience. The intricate layering of beats and melodies takes the listener on a journey through time and space, evoking the spirit of the ancestors while also looking forward to the future. The pulsating rhythms and haunting melodies interweave with each other, creating a sonic tapestry that is both captivating and hypnotic. Reaktor Blocks West Kept Secrets vol.1

Published on Aug 3, 2016 VoltageCtrlRtv

"West Kept Secrets Vol.1 is a collection of live improvised modular synth compositions inspired by the west coast synthesis perspective explored by composers like Morton Subotnick, Don Buchla, Charles Cohen and Todd Barton. Even though the compositions are influenced by the aforementioned composers, I embark on a sonic journey adding my own experiences and influences to this creative school of thought.

This project is made with Native Instruments Reaktor6 Blocks software and an analog modular synthesizer.

Each ensemble includes all the snapshots that were saved as I performed the patch plus a lot of snapshots not recorded on the project for you to explore.

"This is a composition from a new modular synth Techno project I'm working on. All live one take jam sessions in the spirit of the founding fathers of the movement: Juan Atkins, Derick May and Kevin Saunderson. I wouldn't be making unclassifiable electronic music if it wasn't for the creativity, spirit and rhythm of these Detroit pillars of sound. My upcoming Techno release Negroshima is inspired by the inner city pulse of Detroit Techno with an inner city West Coast twist. This sonic offering is an auditory invite to get up and dance and get lost in the sound.
Thanks for listening."

"This is one of the compositions from my up coming analog alchemy album.

This project features 10 compositions recorded live in one take with a 6u modular synth case, Elektron Machinedrum and an Arturia Microbrute. This project is being released in the Nativeinstruments STEMS format.

Each song is made of 4 elements that you can remix on the fly as a dj or sample chop and loop the elements to create new songs.

The Stems file can also be played like a regular audio file in your favorite mp3 player, making this project a hybrid between an album and sound/loop library."
