EMS -Synthi E 1975 Vintage Modular Synthesiser demonstration
video upload by Richard Scott
"Just renovated by the excellent Constantin at Portabellabz. It recently came into my position after sitting in a cupboard unheard for decades. It is weird cranky, and the controllers are uh, unpredictable but it certainly has some charm. This is just recorded on my phone using the Synthi's internal speaker. It even runs on batteries, though I haven't tried it yet"

What is The Vanilla Synthesizer? It's Ready, That's What
via the STG Soundlabs/muSonics Electronic Newsletter:

Is it The Vanilla Synthesizer or the muSonics TVS?
I started working on this project a year and a half ago.
Originally my thought process was to make a new American format synthesiser that could be sold as modules, kits, and bare boards. I was concerned about the future of the format, and I felt a new line of basic modules and infrastructure at a variety of price points was important. I still do.
STG Soundlabs was a failure because I made things that ultimately the eurorack market simply did not want. Yes, I sold some, and will continue to maintain the line as best as I can, but it's very hard to find photos of eurorack installations with STG Soundlabs modules in them, but rare to find a nice big man-sized synthesiser without my modules in it.
Another thing I wanted to do was teach myself how to do my own engineering. It didn't start that way, but it became that way. I'd been a hardware product developer since 2005 but never actually laid out a circuit board. That is no longer true, and I've done things beyond this project that I haven't even talked about.

Exploring The Ciat-Lonbarde Benjolin
video upload by HAINBACH
"Peter Blasser of Ciat-Lonbarde adopted Rob Hordijk's Benjolin into his own wooden synth world. He made it into a surprising idea machine that brings out new patterns and riffs from tiny dial nudges by the player. I have had the pleasure of trying out many prototypes along the way, and here is a demo of the production unit I received as a thank you for my feedback. Thanks to Richard Scott (https://richardscott.bandcamp.com) for the insights.

Space music: Korolev's Last Rocket (For the 60th anniversary of human spaceflight)
video by Richard DeHove
"Sergei Korolev was the driving force behind most of the early Soviet successes in space from Sputnik to Vostok-1. Although his last rocket, the massive N-1 failed, Korolev's influence lives on even today in the incredible Soyuz launcher. "Korolev's Last Rocket" (Последняя ракета Королев) is a tribute to Korolev, Gagarin's Vostok-1 mission and the N-1. Release date is to mark the 60th anniversary of human spaceflight: Gagarin's Vostok-1 mission of April 12th 1961. (April 12th is also the annual International Day of Human Space Flight).
Russian ground control audio at the start of the clip is from a modern Soyuz launch; the audio at the end is radio chatter between Korolev and Gagarin. The track was written at DubDub studios and mastered by Scott Craggs at Old Colony Mastering.

Dark ambient music: Fear Has Brought You Here
Richard DeHove
"Gloomy, anguished track featuring the 01/IV [The Division Department] doing drums and the repeating bass squelch, me bashing metal together (then later pitched down), sampled unhappy crowd noises, and the Sub37 doing all the rest. Wasn't sure about the genre. 'Dark Ambient' was what I settled on although perhaps it has too much thump and clunk for anything claiming to be ambient? Maybe Electro-Industrial, Electronica, Dark Wave or even synth wave? All genre advice appreciated.
The track was written at DubDub studios and mastered by Scott Craggs at Old Colony Mastering.
If the metal clunk sounds appeal then you can download 16 free samples, most of which were used in this track:

Infiltration - dark ambient / space music by Richard Dehove
Richard DeHove
"A dark ambient / space music track. The track features mainly in-the-box production with the Pro-One, Pro-5 and ArcSyn VSTi synths. Sampled words include (in order): 'Your planet is about to be attacked. Some of their secret agents have infiltrated your most restricted areas; your governments, your scientific laboratories. You and the others have no choice but to submit. Your mind is becoming quite blank. You feel that don't you?'

Dennis Verschoor WRC_WORM from hellviss on Vimeo.
"I first met Dennis whilst I was in the WORM studio on an artist residency in 2017. The WORM studio is like a geological trip through electronic music's history but I was about to travel even further back. Strange ghostly tones emanated from the old vocal booth next door, it was this space that Dennis had filled with mid 20th century audio test equipment, going back to the roots of audio electronic experiments before commercially available instruments from Moog or Roland, before keyboards, back to Stockhausen, Else Marie Pade, Daphne Oram, Raymond Scott and the like. Why now? is this the logical conclusion of Mark Fisher's cultural hauntology? do we end up back at the source? the sound of past futures? For Dennis it seemed more a way to dodge the hipsters, and invite collaboration.
Dennis and I had a friend in common Steve Grimley-Taylor, a lover of all things electronic and sound related (founder of Thonk.co.uk). When I expressed the idea of making a film about Dennis, Richard Foster from WORM kindly agreed to let us. This is a short film about Dennis, his journey and his installation.
