Sequential Circuits Six-Trak song Multitimbrality 11.3.2026.

video upload by Veli-Matti Rautio

"My very first Six-Trak multitimbral performace with synths own sequencer : )
Five sequencer track's (sounds) recorded first with Six-Trak's sounds and solo made live when making this video. Strymon Mobius Chorus used fattening sounds :) Sony FDR-AX43A video camera. Composed, played, arranged and improvised by me in Studio Tupos upstairs living room 11.3.2026. Nr. 1530.
Kas tässäpä ihka ensimmäinen Six-Trakin omilla soundeilla ja sekkarilla tehty multitimbraalinen esitys :) MS Audiotronin kataloogissa 84 - 85 mainittiin tämän olevan pienstudion perustyökalu : ) Sekkarissa käytetty viisi raitaa/ääntä ja soolo soitettu päälle kuudentena äänenä. Strymon Mobius tarjosi Choruksen lihavoittamaan synan ääniä. Kuvaajana Sony FDR-AX43A."

Sequential 02 : Oberheim OB-6 Sound Demo : " Massive Mod " user bank preview by I.H.R

video upload by I Hate Robots

"Sequential Oberheim OB-6 (module) - sound demo of few user programs, this is not a jam, and the video is a loop, not in realtime.

00:00 Duality
04:20 X-Rhodes
08:15 Gate 1
10:05 Lux
12:15 Alien 1
14:06 Sun
15:10 Coma
17:02 Gate 2
18:22 Nop
19:31 Dark Phaz
22:40 Omniarp
25:00 Alien 2
26:25 Berlin Mod
29:35 Crispy Pad

In practical terms, the OB-6 (keyboard or module version) is a modern and refined embodiment of all the experience and expertise of Dave Smith (Sequential) and Tom Oberheim. Its sound engine sits somewhere between the Sequential Prophet-6 and the Oberheim OB-Xa; it's essentially a fusion of the two!

It's high-end, old-school analog in the purest tradition—the sound is big, fat, deep, and powerful—but with modern digital assistance that allows it to fully exploit its capabilities and push its boundaries.

This is precisely the subject and purpose of this preset bank, which I designed entirely myself.

This is my main OB-6 bank, which I use very often for my sound design work in the studio or for my training sessions. User Bank #3 (Massive Mod), it contains a total of 96 custom presets. I'm not presenting them all here, the demo would have been far too long, but I've prepared this short demo with a few of them to give you a sonic preview of the synth and its modulation capabilities!
Sometimes I use a single preset with its modulations, either played directly on the keyboard or sequenced with a keyboard layer on top, and other times I mix two presets together (the OB-6 is monotimbral).

Everything you hear comes from the OB-6; there are no added effects, no post-production processing !

Vivarium

video upload by MIDERA

"Here's a new track. I wanted to bring the Tempest back in and use it again... but almost everything about it is just difficult to use... I tried to sequence the beats, but the OS would freeze when doing it that way, so I had to opt to manually change beats. Using the external sequencer kind of ruins half the fun of the Tempest, so I chose to do it all in the box, and it's great for that... but it's extremely hard to put a track together using the Tempest.

Gear used:
Cirklon 2 sequencer
DSI Tempest (drums)
Moog Minimoog (bass)
Roland SH-101 (Bass)
Sequential OB-6 (arp)
Roland JD-990 (initial melodic pad)
Oberheim Matrix 1000 (later pad sound)
Prophet 10 (secondary melody halfway through track)
NI Raum (Reverb)
DAW: Reaper

Korg Volca Modular & Sequential Circuits Six-Trak song Seven Point Three 7.3.2026.

video upload by Veli-Matti Rautio

"Saturday musical session with Volca Modular & Six-Trak. Volca Modular self-made 16 steps sequence with pots adjustments and Six-Trak sound 41, two voice bass pad with Strymon Mobius chorus. Roland Go:Mixer Pro mixing desk and Sony FDR-AX43A video camera. Composed, played, arranged and improvised by me in Studio Tupos upstairs living room 7.3.2026. Nr. 1521. Last Friday was quite nice, got both Volca Modular and Six-track in same day : ) Eilen oli varsin mukava päivä, posti toi ensin Volca Modularin ja kohta sen jälkeen tuli tieto, että Six-Trak on haettavissa Limingan postista : ) Tänään lauantaina tein Volca Modularilla ja Six-Trakilla pienen esityksen. Modulariin tein 16 steppisen sekvenssin ja säätelin potikoita, Six-Trakin soundina oli 41, kaksiääninen bassopad. Six-Trakissa oli Strymon Mobius yhdistettynä choruksella. Roland Go:Mixer Pro miksasi ja Sony FDR-AX43A kuvasi."

Iridium Desktop MK2: The Next Sound Dimension

Iridium Desktop MK2 is a new generation of the highly acclaimed Iridium Desktop synthesizer introduced in 2020 by Waldorf Music, and since then used by countless artists and sound designers. After six years the time has come to advance the sonic success story even further.

Based on the legendary multi-engine design of the Quantum & Iridium product line, the MK2 innovates even further, thus fitting perfectly into Waldorf’s forward-looking synthesizer design philosophy.

The MK2 features a new and fresh design, and an improved CPU board with more RAM and flash storage allowing for more sample storage and opening a whole new world of synthesis capabilities.

Per-Note-Parameter-Locks
(ft. Aphex Twin)
Only on the MK2 you can enjoy a very special feature called Per-Note-Parameter-Locks which is the result of a collaboration with legendary Aphex Twin, a long-term Iridium Desktop user.

With this feature, each of the 128 notes can be assigned up to 16 individual parameter variations by simply holding a note and turning knobs. This system allows each note to have a different set of parameters. You can even change the synthesis mode of oscillators for each note or change effect parameters. It feels like adding a whole new dimension to your music. Per-Note-Parameter-Locks are saved with each patch and can be inspected and edited on a dedicated page.

Seeds – The Sixth Synthesis Sense
The added RAM further allows a new sixth synthesis method for each of the three oscillators. Inspired by wavetable synthesis, in which each wavetable represents a timbral journey, Waldorf has found a way to base these timbral journeys not only on static waveforms, but also to dynamically synthesize each waypoint from sub-oscillators we called “Seeds”. These can be controlled and recombined using techniques like ring modulation and frequency modulation, and enriched with noise and other non-pitched material. While we provide, similarly to wavetables, a set of predefined timbral journeys, you can also edit and create your own.

Protein’s “Flavour” Knob
The new knob called “Flavour” adds sonic liveliness using our new concept of micro-variations in timing, timbre, pitch, and a whole set of additional parameters we recently introduced with the Protein synthesizer.

More Memory, Layers & Sound
With the increased memory capacity, you can change the multi-timbral layer count from 2 to 4. In addition to layered and split modes, the new MK2 also features more advanced multi-timbral modes, such as round-robin and random-robin. These additions bring greater timbral richness and variety, letting you build deep and complex sonic landscapes. A dream come true for all sound designers, sonic explorers and cinematic artists!

Iridium & Quantum Update 4.0
A general update of the Iridium and Quantum operating system will be available soon.

Version 4.0 provides some of the new features for all existing Quantum and Iridium models like the Mutator patch randomizer introduced in the Microwave plugin, a new polyphonic arpeggiator, new microtonal features saved in patches and other features.

Syntakt 1.40 – 7 Power-Ups That Completely Redefine It

video upload by Sineway

"Syntakt firmware 1.40 just dropped - and yes, it plays samples now. But that's not the real story.

After spending serious time with this firmware, I found 7 power-ups that completely change what this machine is capable of. We're talking new oscillator colors, evolving morph engines, harmonic stacking with real instrument samples, character layering that captures the soul of your synths, track linking with analog filter routing, stereo filter panning, and performance upgrades that make jamming more intuitive than ever.

This isn't about drum one-shots. This is about what sampling unlocks for sound design, harmony, and musicality on a machine that already had serious creative depth.

All sounds in this video come from my own sample library recorded from my synthesizers — including the Novation Peak, Sequential Fourm, and Arturia AstroLab 37. The full sample pack and project files are available on my Patreon.

Drum Machine plugin preset for Decent Sampler (MaskinTrommer)

video upload by Benjamin Dehli

"MaskinTrommer is a drum sample library for Decent Sampler, featuring electronic drum sounds created from analog synthesizers. Each drum type contains multiple samples per sound to eliminate the typical 'machine gun' effect associated with digital sample based drum machines.

The drum sounds were created using:
Korg MS-20
Roland SH-09
Doepfer Dark Energy
Sequential Circuits Pro-One
The result is a versatile collection of synthetic kicks, snares, hi-hats, cymbals, and toms with a broad tonal range, from tight and percussive to big and sustaining.

User Interface:
The interface is divided into two main areas
Left section: Individual drum controls and sample mixer
Right section: Global settings and effects
The keyboard at the bottom is color-coded to match each drum section, making it easy to identify the mapping.

Drum Settings
The top row of knobs in each drum section controls the primary sound-shaping parameters.

Pitch (Kick & Snare):
Adjusts the tuning of the drum.
Turning clockwise raises the pitch.
Turning counterclockwise lowers the pitch.
Affects both sample types for the kick and the "body" samples for the snare.

Sustain (Snare, Hi-Hat, Cymbal, Tom):
Controls which sustain-length samples are triggered.
For snare and tom, it only affects the "head" samples.
Lower values select shorter, tighter sounds.
Higher values select longer sustaining samples.
Dyn (Dynamic) mode:
Higher MIDI velocity → longer sustaining samples
Lower MIDI velocity → shorter sustaining samples

This allows expressive control directly from performance dynamics.

Drum Mixer
The second and third rows of knobs in each drum section form the sample mixer.
Each knob controls the volume of a specific sample type for that drum.
The knob design visually represents which synthesizer the samples originate from.

Sample Type Blending:
You can blend multiple synthesizer sources for a single drum.
Each active source contributes its own round robin variations.
Combining sources dramatically increases variation and complexity.

Display Indicators:
Some mixer knobs include a small display.
The display shows how the samples assigned to that knob are influenced by either pitch (kick & snare) or sustain (snare, hi-hat, cymbal & tom).
This provides quick visual feedback when shaping the sound.

Global Settings
Located in the rightmost section.

Sensitivity:
Controls how strongly MIDI velocity affects sample volume.
Lower values → More consistent volume regardless of velocity
Higher values → Greater dynamic range
This allows you to tailor the instrument to your playing style or sequencing needs.

Global Effects
Impact:
Controls the level of the transient (initial attack) relative to the sustain portion.
Higher values → Louder attack, quieter sustain
Lower values → More even balance between attack and body
This is useful for tightening drums or making them cut through a mix.

Saturation:
A volume-compensated overdrive/distortion effect.
Adds harmonic content and edge.
Maintains perceived loudness while increasing intensity.
Suitable for subtle coloration or more aggressive processing.

Keyboard Layout
The on-screen keyboard is color-coded to match the drum sections:
Kick (pink): C1
Snare (blue): D1
Closed hi-hat (green): E1
Open hi-hat (green): F1
Cymbal (yellow): G1
Tom (red): A1 to G2
This makes it easy to identify which keys trigger which drums, especially during performance.

Equipment used:
Doepfer Dark Energy
Korg MS-20
Roland SH-09
Sequential Circuits Pro-One

Technical specification:
Sample rate: 48 kHz
Bit depth: 24 bit
Channels: 1 (mono)
Number of samples: 342
File size: 80.4 MB

From Thom Yorke to Vangelis — A Short History of Sequential (Dave Smith Instruments) | PlayJason

video upload by Jason Mays

"When musicians talk about revolutions in electronic instruments, certain names echo through time — and few are more influential than ‪@SequentialLLC‬ the company founded by the late, great Dave Smith. In today’s "History of" episode, we’re tracing the complete history of Sequential (formerly Dave Smith Instruments), from the world-changing arrival of the Prophet-5 to the modern renaissance that brought the Sequential name back into the spotlight. Whether you’re a synth enthusiast, a gear historian, a Prophet devotee, or just someone who loves the intersection of music and technology — this is the story you need to know."
