Simple Guitar Synthesizer Reaktor 5.0 Roland GR-300

"I was inspired by a Moog Freq Pedal demo. I took my monophonic Fatman synthesizer, and used an external input (guitar) as the sync source for oscillator 2. Oscillator 1 is still on the control panel, but it does nothing. The external input (guitar) forces the sync of Oscillator 2, making it track the pitch of the guitar. Making this work well depends on the settings of the input compressor, noise gate, and a low pass filter used to roll off the treble from the guitar. These elements are common to all guitar synthesizers. I was amazed at how well the whole thing works with minor tweaking. This unit is monophonic. If you could input each string individually, as with a hex pickup, you could create a very workable polyphonic guitar synthesizer in software only. The other thing needed is a good envelope follower. The file is on the Native Instruments website, available for improvements from other user. Search for SIMPLE_GTR_SYNTH.ens."

Richard Lainhart - Arts Center of Capital Region 3/28/09
YouTube via rustyanalog Seven vids. Six videos of performance and seventh is a talk at the intermission.
"Richard Lainhart, award-winning composer and filmmaker, presented a concert of live electronic music at the Arts Center of the Capital Region, featuring new works and improvisations for high-definition film projection and synthesizer in quadraphonic sound. Richard performed with his Buchla 200e modular analog synthesizer, controlled by the Haken Continuum Fingerboard, an innovative 3-dimensional keyboard."
Exploring the Waldorf Q Keyboard
YouTube via attorks
"This a probably a boring video if you are not interested in the Waldorf Q Keyboard. The Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequencer is driving the Synthesizers.com with a bass sound and the self-built Modular with the accompanying melody. The internal sequencer of the Waldorf Q Keyboard is synchronized with the MAQ16/3 MIDI clock doing a 8 step sequence which I transpose with the keyboard (to make the music a little bit less boring ;-). Fiddling with various dials but mainly the pulse width dials on VCO 1 and 2 to scan through the wave tables of the Alt1 wave selection, with the cutoff, resonance and envelop amount for the 24dB lowpass filter and with the decay for the filter ADSR. At 09:35 I switch to the PPG filter but then the video almost ends. You can see or download the full version from my website in a few days."
OXYGENE 4 COVER (EXTENDED VERSION) played on VINTAGE SYNTHS
YouTube via AnalogAudio1
"I recorded this cover of OXYGENE IV - music by Jean-Michel Jarre. Every sound was played by hand and recorded onto multitrack without MIDI - like Jarre did in 1976. It was hard work - it required good timing - but I enjoyed the recording process very much! At the first picture in the video you can see a part of my studio. I used only the following vintage analog synthesizers / instruments:
EMINENT 310 U (for the strings and pads with Small Stone)
KORG MINIPOPS 7 DRUMBOX
ARP ODYSSEY (brass-like lead sound)
KORG MS-20 (bass)
MOOG MICROMOOG for the sequencer sound, white noise FX and the lead sound with ELECTRIC MISTRESS flanger.
It took three days to record and mix this track. Recording and mixing was doing digitally with LOGIC - I also used the reverb and delay plugins - as well as some equalizer plugs.
Sure, Jarre used not exactly the same instruments - (I don't have a RMI or an ARP 2600). However, the ARP Odyssey that I used is the small brother of the 2600 and its basic sound is similar). For the RMI sounds I used the Micromoog, which has very fast envelopes.
As a big JMJ fan I always wanted to make a very good OXYGENE 4 cover - as a maxi-single version, that never existed. For all JMJ fans, here it is...
There are many Oxygene 4 covers on YouTube... but to come as close to the original as this, you need analog equipment - you will not get such a sound from digital stuff.
It is recorded in stereo, enjoy it..."
