"Cousin TR-606 comes to visit TB-303 bringing a DIN sync with him! A little touch of glitch on the drums, some verb on the bass and let the tweaking commence!!"
"When you take a closer look at this inventor/librettist/geologist’s biography, it doesn’t take you long to realize that owning the first ever computer in a home environment, helping develop the sequencer, and building one of the first and most influental synthesizers of all time, the EMS VCS3, all are nothing but rather mundane details. So if you wanted to REALLY discuss how to shorten methodologies of brain signal analysis, whether there is another way to generate REAL random numbers other than the Geiger counters they even use in Vegas, or if you REALLY wanted to think new avenues in intuition-led interface design - this Russian-English renaissance man will keep it very, very real for you." "The moon cycle delay pedal is a new design by Spunkytoofers for hands free control of a circuit bent boss ps 2 delay pedal.
the boss ps-2 is a dual board pitch shifter/delay pedal. the unit is demonstrated in the one of the delay settings. with the moon cycle stomp switch you can capture 2 second loops, or faster loops to stutter, all the way into self oscillation with help from the foot pedal. in the delay setting you can create some tonal variation as well as adding some synthesizer variants to the delay loop. stomps can be selected to have pattern slicers, circuit bends, and rhythmic sound variation.
the pitch shifter modes creates a synthesizer tone in which the synthesizer can be circuit bent in sound as well as sustained by the moon cycle switch. this allows the user to duet with the synthesizer generated by the pedal as well as isolated the synthesizer to have a fully pitch controllable circuit bent synthesizer.
"Bend Matrix from 4ms factory. This one was custom build by Dann Green himself. It has the classic two parts matrix hardwired to circuit bent toys producing some infinite possibilities of bent sequences. Several modes are added for extra flexibility : record sequence, different modes of bent sounds (effects, notes, drum parts). Rare enough on those art piece is a midi out and midi in (!) to sync the Bend Matrix to some other midi gear.
Here you can see me use it with a Flame midi talking synth : more vids (theau playing the ghostmatrix).
what is the bend matrix?
the bend matrix is a midi sequencer for circuit bent projects
...a dynamic tool to store and recall your analog synth patches
...a microcontroller brain that leeches onto a host circuit
...a signal router/mixer that can be played like an instrument and patched to your other midi gear
...an octophonic surround-sound system controller for routing and spinning 4 inputs to 8 outputs
...a circuit bending controller for live performance, e.g. turn a thrift-store kids keyboard into an arpeggiating, sequenced, midi-controlled player piano (forget squinting over a pcb with an alligator clip in the dark trying to find your glitch point!)
...an automatic patch-bay and sequencer with real-time analog controls: strobe, arp, gloob, random.
...a meta-instrument: play the playing of other sound-makers, routing them into each other, multiple outputs/effects, programming and saving patches
what does the bend matrix do?
connect/disconnect glitch points within an external circuit-bent device (two separate 4x4 matrices or one single 4x8 matrix)
connect/disconnect/route audio inputs into multiple outputs (4 inputs=>8 outputs or 8=>4)
act as a patch matrix for modular synthesizers, or other cv/signal routing
store up to 128 "patches" in memory (memory is held even when power is disconnected)
sequence the 128 stored patches at specified bpm (2 - 2000 bpm)
generate random patches
apply effects to the current patch (or sequence of patches) using analog controls: randomization, arpeggiation, strobing, gloobing.
inputs midi note/cc commands, so you can program your patches and sequences using standard midi gear
outputs midi note/cc commands, so you can use the bend matrix to sync up to other midi gear (video effects, etc...)
how might i use it?
a. circuit bending
add midi in/out to your circuit bent projects
program/save/recall patches of bend points
sequence trigger points to essentially convert any sound generating device into a player piano
real-time analog controls (joystick, knobs, photocells) provide special effects/glitching/strobing/arpeggiation and randomization
b. effect switching/re-ordering
change effect ordering and routings on the fly: store up to 8 patches per bank, with 16 banks
series, parallel, and series-parallel configurations possible
sequence your effect changes, so you can simply hit "next" after each song and the next effect ordering
up to 4 effects in any order and combination of in/out of the loop
dynamic re-routing
external stomp switches and rack-mounting optionally available.
c. modular synthesizers
patch synth modules together using a central button matrix to control routings
save/recall patches, (8 per bank, 16 total banks = 128 patches)
sequence patches within banks, sequence playback of multiple banks
split matrix functionality allows one half to control patches (e.g. lfo->vcf, adsr->vca, etc) while the other half can send midi note commands or make
d. art installations
flexible configuration allows a variety of sound sources and amplifiers to be dynamically routed (16 total bi-directional ports: e.g 4 inputs => 8 outputs, or two separate 4 in => 4 out...)
route trigger/sensor/microphone signals to various processing devices
outputs can trigger lights, sounds, motion, anything that runs on electrical power (use your imagination!)
customizable matrix size and configurations available
additional notes:
the photocell modification adds four light-sensitive photocells, each with an enable switch. the photocell overrides use of the knob for real-time effects.
the trigger input jacks include step ahead, step back and play/pause. this versatile input accepts cv, audio or any line signal.
9vdc powersupply included (120/240v).

via this auction "Roland MC-202 analogue synthesizer and 2x channel sequencer. It has a Kenton 5 socket kit installed, the sockets are CV, GATE, Filter and Portamento inputs, allowing the 202 to be controlled via a Kenton Pro Solo or similiar device.
For those that dont know the MC202 is basically a cross between a Roland SH101 and a TB303. It has the same synth engine as the SH101 and sounds the same, but has a sequencer very much like the TB303, where you can program sequences much like on the TB303, you have slide and accent to get those acid type sequence lines.
The sequencer is actually 2 channels, one internal for the synth engine and another channel that can be used to control another external synth.
The 202 comes with the original user manual and also the Kenton information regarding the socket kit upgrade."
Note the auction is for the strap only. Always read the full description at the auction, not here. I usually just grab the portion relative to the functionality or interesting history of the item.
"THE original leather strap that came with the sh-101synthesizer in the early 80's when it was released. the strap is more rare than the mod grip or the sh-101 carry bag which i will also likely be posting up soon. this strap is in EXCELLENT to PERFECT condition and was NEVER, EVER used. it is made from sturdy, nice, good quality brown leather. it has ROLAND and the roland logo imprinted into the leather. looks really really great. a very beautiful vintage strap. this auction is for the strap ONLY. this is a very rare addition to compliment your sh-101 or for a collector."
"Berlin, March 23rd, 2010 - Native Instruments today introduced ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS, the second instrument developed together with the iconic British recording studios. Providing two expertly engineered classic drum kits for use in the free KONTAKT PLAYER and the industry-leading KONTAKT 4 sampler, ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS delivers the essential punch and flair for typical Seventies sound aesthetics and various modern music styles.
At the heart of ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS are two sought-after drum kits of the Seventies, a Premier and a Ludwig, both painstakingly recorded in Abbey Road's legendary Studio Two renowned for its unique acoustic properties. While the Ludwig kit provides the typical big and roomy sound that is a hallmark of many classic rock songs of the Seventies, the Premier kit was recorded in a deadened environment within the famous studio to create a tight and punchy tone that also lends itself to R&B, disco and other contemporary genres. All samples were captured using Abbey Road's profound engineering expertise and outstanding arsenal of vintage equipment. Classic microphones from the studios' famed collection, the exclusive EMI TG mixing desk, an analog 2-inch tape machine and other authentic outboard gear all contribute to the charismatic and genuine sound of ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS.
Up to 34 velocity layers per instrument with up to six additional variation samples guarantee ultimate authenticity both for rhythm programming and for real-time MIDI-controlled playing, with a selection of different MIDI mappings accommodating the established layouts of various popular electronic drum kits and third-party drum libraries. Separate "vintage" and "modern" microphone setups provide a choice between classic and contemporary tone, with the Ludwig kit also offering an optional "Glyn Johns" configuration, a technique used for some of the most acclaimed drum recordings of the Seventies era.
The user interface of ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS makes full use of the advanced GUI features of KONTAKT, providing convenient controls for articulation, sound shaping, mixing and routing. Advanced randomization can even add subtle nuances to the tone and timing to make it virtually indistinguishable from a conventional studio-recorded drum performance.
ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS is available for purchase in the NI Online Shop on DVD and as a download for $119 / 99 EUR.
