Elektor Formant with step sequencer
video upload by MusicMiK
"Finally i got the missing VCO module for my Elektor Formant. And there also was "something else" in the box, which clearly looked like a step sequencer.
After finding out where the loose cables go and where power has to go, it needed some repair and now works quite fine. According to the chip labels, this thing might be built 1978, it's a very simple design with a 4520 binary counter, 3 4051 for potentiometer multiplexing and sequence control, together with a 4001 which generates the reset signal for the 4520.
The main clock comes from a NE555, the output buffers are TL071 now as one of the CA3130 was dead.
I don't know more about this thing, it looks a bit like a kit, but it also might just be built around a commercial PCB (single sided hand-drawn layout but white print on the component side). No signs about who made this thing, no schematics available (but in fact, it could be developed from scratch in less than a day i think :)
No, i didn't take care of dialing in any well-sounding melody, so it for sure sounds a bit strange..."

R.I.P. Tali

Tali and Serge
The coolest of the synth cats has passed away. I had the great fortune to meet Tali on several occasions. It pains me to think she is gone. She was the coolest, sweetest cat I ever met, with the most loving, caring friends. Tali is pure magic. I will miss her deeply. via Carbon111
Update: some more pics of Tali (Circle Cat) and kind words on Harmony Central here.

PoesBoes Fitting a Roland PG-800 with a New Microcontroller

"With this modification the original processor is replaced and C11 of the reset circuit is removed (although not really needed) and the uPD7001C is removed."
You'll find the full details on PoesBoes.

Lightfoot Labs: Goatkeeper3 (color variants)

via Analogue Haven where you'll find some samples.
"goatkeeper 3 is an all analog signal path, digitally controlled tremolo. it's unique sound is due it's analog vca (voltage controlled amplifier) and highly customizable waveforms. six of the eleven waveforms are standard; the other five can be created and saved using the waveform recorder function. either goatkeeper's depth knob or the expression/cv input can be used as the source for waveform recording. a four step sequencer multiplies the lfo's rate by either 1,2,3,4,6,8, or 16. a step can also be set to full amplitude or minimum amplitude. the random setting will select between 1 through 16 or minimum amplitude. lfo rate is set by tap tempo (requiring two or more taps), the expression/cv input, or external sync input.
features:
capable of completely unique sounds as well as standard tremolo
advanced lfo
four step sequencer
skip a step by setting it to ">>"
set the step to multiply the speed by 2,3,4,6,8,16
set the step to minimum or maximum amplitude
set the step to random, selecting between 1 through 16 ro minimum amplitude
waveform recorder function - draw an arbitrary waveform
six preset waveforms and five slots for user drawn waveforms
tap tempo speed control
set tempo duration from approximately 250 msec to 6 seconds
the resulting speed can then be multiplied by up to 16 times using the sequencer knobs
either the depth knob or expression/cv input is used to "draw" the waveform when in waveform record mode
expression/cv input for control over lfo rate
external sync input - syncs goatkeeper to an audio click track
100% analog signal path
relay bypass"
